# Structured Data Extractor & Validator (`autoloom/structured-data-extractor`) Actor

Extract structured data (JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa) from a list of pages, list the schema.org types and their properties, and validate the required properties Google expects for Article, Product, Organization, LocalBusiness, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Recipe and more.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Schema Markup & JSON-LD Validator

**Structured Data Extractor & Validator** pulls the schema markup out of any list of pages, in all three formats (**JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa**), and checks each item against a checklist of the core properties Google's rich-result guidelines expect. You get the schema.org types on every page, the properties each JSON-LD item has, and a plain-English list of what is missing. It uses plain HTTP with a real JSON parser, so you can audit a whole site in one run.

> **Pricing:** pay per result: $1.50 per 1,000 results ($0.15 per 100, $15.00 per 10,000), plus $0.00005 per run start. One result = one URL checked.

### What data you get (one row per URL)

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `url`, `statusCode` | The page and its HTTP status |
| `formats` | How many items were found in each format: `{ jsonLd, microdata, rdfa }` |
| `detectedTypes` | Count of each schema.org type found in JSON-LD |
| `jsonLd` | Each JSON-LD item's `type` and the property `keys` it has |
| `microdataTypes`, `rdfaTypes` | Types found in Microdata and RDFa |
| `hasStructuredData` | `true` if any structured data was found |
| `issues`, `issueCount` | Plain-English problems, e.g. "Article missing required: datePublished, author" |
| `valid` | `true` when no issues were found |

### What it validates

JSON-LD items of these types are checked for these properties:

| Type | Properties checked |
|---|---|
| Article, NewsArticle, BlogPosting | headline, image, datePublished, author |
| Product | name, image, plus one of offers, review or aggregateRating; each offer needs price and priceCurrency |
| Organization | name, url |
| LocalBusiness | name, address |
| FAQPage | mainEntity |
| BreadcrumbList | itemListElement |
| Recipe | name, image, recipeIngredient, recipeInstructions |
| Event | name, startDate, location |
| JobPosting | title, description, datePosted, hiringOrganization |
| VideoObject | name, thumbnailUrl, uploadDate |

It also reports JSON-LD blocks that contain invalid JSON, a common reason rich results silently disappear.

### How to use it

1. Paste your page URLs into **URLs** (one per line, or upload a list).
2. Click **Start**.
3. Filter the results on `valid = false` to get your fix list, or export to CSV or Excel.

### Input example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    { "url": "https://apify.com" },
    { "url": "https://example.com/product/blue-widget" }
  ]
}
```

### Output example

A real row from a test run on `https://apify.com` (14 Oct 2026):

```json
{
  "url": "https://apify.com",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "formats": { "jsonLd": 3, "microdata": 0, "rdfa": 0 },
  "detectedTypes": { "Organization": 1, "WebSite": 1, "SoftwareApplication": 1 },
  "jsonLd": [
    { "type": "Organization", "keys": ["name", "legalName", "url", "logo", "description", "foundingDate", "vatID", "address", "sameAs", "contactPoint"] },
    { "type": "WebSite", "keys": ["name", "url", "publisher"] },
    { "type": "SoftwareApplication", "keys": ["name", "url", "description", "applicationCategory", "operatingSystem", "provider", "offers", "softwareHelp"] }
  ],
  "microdataTypes": [],
  "rdfaTypes": [],
  "hasStructuredData": true,
  "issues": [],
  "issueCount": 0,
  "valid": true
}
```

### Pricing

| URLs checked | Cost |
|---|---|
| 100 | $0.15 |
| 1,000 | $1.50 |
| 10,000 | $15.00 |

One result per URL, plus $0.00005 per run start. Apify's free plan includes monthly platform credit you can use to try it, and free-plan users get the same features.

### Use it with the API, Make, Zapier or Google Sheets

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/autoloom~structured-data-extractor/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"startUrls":[{"url":"https://apify.com"}]}'
```

Send results to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or n8n through Apify's integrations, or schedule a weekly run to catch markup that breaks after a site update.

### FAQ

**Is this the same as Google's Rich Results Test?** No. It is a bulk checklist of core properties, listed above, so you can scan hundreds of pages at once and see what is missing. Use Google's own test to confirm a specific page's rich-result eligibility.

**Does it render JavaScript?** No. It reads the HTML the server returns. Markup injected only by JavaScript in the browser (for example by some tag managers) will not be found.

**Which types are validated?** The ones in the table above. Other types are still extracted and counted, just not checked for properties.

**What about sites that block bots?** You still get a row with the status code, so you can see which pages could not be read.

**Is it legal?** It reads publicly available pages, the same way a browser does. Only audit sites you have the right to access.
