## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Contact & Email Extractor

**Website Contact Extractor** is an email extractor and contact details scraper for lists of websites. For each site it returns the **emails, phone numbers and social media profiles** it finds, cleaned, de-duplicated and tagged with the exact page each contact came from. It uses plain HTTP with no headless browser, so it stays fast and cheap on big lead lists.

> **Pricing:** pay per result: $2.00 per 1,000 results ($0.20 per 100, $20.00 per 10,000), plus $0.00005 per run start. One result = one website checked, whether or not contacts are found.

### What data you get (one row per website)

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `site`, `domain` | The website you gave and its domain |
| `statusCode` | HTTP status of the homepage |
| `pagesScanned` | Every page that was read (homepage plus contact/about/team pages) |
| `emails` | List of `{ email, sourceUrl }`, de-duplicated |
| `phones` | List of `{ phone, sourceUrl }`, normalized to digits (with `+` when given) |
| `socials` | LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok profile URLs |
| `emailCount`, `phoneCount`, `socialCount` | Counts, handy for filtering in a spreadsheet |
| `contactsFound` | `true` if any email, phone or social profile was found |

### How it finds contacts

- **Emails:** `mailto:` links, Cloudflare-protected emails (decoded), and email addresses in the page source. Junk is filtered out: no-reply addresses, image or asset file names that look like emails, placeholder domains, and strings without a real top-level domain.
- **Phone numbers:** `tel:` links always; numbers in page text only when written in international format (starting with `+`), to avoid picking up order numbers and dates.
- **Social profiles:** links to the main social networks, normalized and de-duplicated, with share buttons and other junk links filtered out.
- **Contact pages:** with **Crawl contact pages** on (the default), it also follows links on the homepage whose address or text mentions contact, about, team, imprint or impressum, up to **Max pages per site** (default 4, maximum 10).

### How to use it

1. Paste your websites into **Websites**.
2. Leave **Crawl contact pages** on and set **Max pages per site** (4 is a good default).
3. Click **Start**, then export to CSV or Excel, or read the results through the API.

### Input example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    { "url": "https://apify.com" },
    { "url": "https://example-plumbing.com" }
  ],
  "crawlPages": true,
  "maxPagesPerSite": 4
}
```

### Output example

A real row from a test run on `https://apify.com` (13 Oct 2026):

```json
{
  "site": "https://apify.com",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "domain": "apify.com",
  "pagesScanned": ["https://apify.com", "https://apify.com/about"],
  "emails": [{ "email": "support@apify.com", "sourceUrl": "https://apify.com" }],
  "phones": [],
  "socials": {
    "linkedin": ["https://linkedin.com/company/apify"],
    "twitter": ["https://x.com/apify"],
    "youtube": ["https://youtube.com/apify"],
    "tiktok": ["https://tiktok.com/@apifytech"]
  },
  "emailCount": 1,
  "phoneCount": 0,
  "socialCount": 4,
  "contactsFound": true
}
```

### Pricing

| Websites checked | Cost |
|---|---|
| 100 | $0.20 |
| 1,000 | $2.00 |
| 10,000 | $20.00 |

Emails, phones and social profiles all come in the same row, with no separate enrichment or verification charge. You pay one result per website checked, including sites where nothing is found, plus $0.00005 per run start. Apify's free plan includes monthly platform credit you can use to try it, and free-plan users get the same features.

### Use it with the API, Make, Zapier or Google Sheets

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/autoloom~website-contact-extractor/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"startUrls":[{"url":"https://apify.com"}],"maxPagesPerSite":4}'
```

You can also send results straight to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or n8n through Apify's integrations.

### FAQ

**Does it verify that emails are deliverable?** No. It reports what each site publishes. Run the list through an email verification service before a campaign.

**Does it render JavaScript?** No. Contacts added only by JavaScript in the browser may be missed. Most sites put contact details in the HTML, often on a contact page, which is why the contact-page crawl is on by default.

**What about sites that block bots or are down?** You still get a row with the status code and `contactsFound: false`, so you can see which sites could not be read.

**Why are some phone numbers missing?** Numbers in plain text are only taken when written in international format (`+1 …`, `+44 …`). Numbers in `tel:` links are always taken.

**Is it legal?** It reads publicly available pages. You are responsible for how you use contact data, including privacy and marketing laws such as GDPR, CAN-SPAM and the site's own terms.
