## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play App & Review Scraper

Collect Google Play app information and customer reviews for market research, product comparisons, and review analysis. Enter app IDs, Google Play app links, or a search term.

It is built for product managers, app marketers, analysts and researchers who want app ratings, install ranges, prices and recent reviews in a spreadsheet or JSON, for any Google Play country and language.

### Input

- **appIds**: app IDs (such as `com.spotify.music`) or Google Play app links, up to 100.
- **searchTerm**: a search term. You can use app IDs, a search term, or both; duplicate apps are listed once.
- **country** and **language**: the storefront to read, such as `US` and `en`, or `JP` and `ja`.
- **maxItems**: maximum apps (default 50, up to 100).
- **includeDetails**: add rating count, update date, version and content rating to search results. App IDs and links always get these details.
- **includeReviews**: collect reviews for each app, sorted by **newest** or **rating** (highest ratings first), up to **maxReviews** per app (default 100, up to 5,000).

```json
{
  "searchTerm": "weather",
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en",
  "maxItems": 50,
  "includeDetails": false,
  "includeReviews": false,
  "reviewSort": "newest",
  "maxReviews": 100
}
```

### Output

App rows have `recordType: app`:

```json
{
  "recordType": "app",
  "appId": "com.weather.Weather",
  "title": "The Weather Channel - Radar",
  "developer": "The Weather Channel",
  "genre": "Weather",
  "rating": 4.594858,
  "ratingCount": null,
  "installs": "100,000,000+",
  "installsLowerBound": 100000000,
  "price": 0.0,
  "currency": "USD",
  "updated": null,
  "version": null,
  "contentRating": null,
  "structureStatus": "ok",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weather.Weather&hl=en&gl=US"
}
```

`installs` is the displayed range and `installsLowerBound` is its number (for example, 10,000,000,000+ becomes 10000000000). `price` is the listed purchase price, not in-app purchases. `updated` is a UTC date and time.

Review rows have `recordType: review`, with appId, reviewId, rating, text, date (UTC), thumbsUp (helpful votes), appVersion, developerReplyText and developerReplyDate (UTC). Use recordType to separate apps and reviews in your export, and appId and reviewId to remove duplicates across runs. Results are available as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### What can be empty

- Search results without **includeDetails** have no rating count, update date, version or content rating.
- Some apps do not show a version, rating or other value in a storefront; those fields are null.
- Review or reply text is null when it is very short, or when little is left after contact details are removed.
- Apps that do not exist in the chosen storefront are skipped and are not charged. The run status says how many were skipped.
- A search with no matches finishes with zero rows.

### Limits

- A search returns up to about 30 apps, the results Google Play shows for that term, even if **maxItems** is higher. Use app IDs to collect more apps.
- Some apps or storefronts show no reviews.
- Details and reviews take longer than search results. If a run reaches its time limit, the rows already collected are kept.
- Each run is a fresh snapshot, so values and availability can change between runs.

### Privacy

Reviewer names and profile images are not collected. Emails, phone numbers, web links and addresses are removed from review and reply text, but people can still mention names in what they write.
