## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper & API

**App Store Reviews Scraper is an Apify Actor that extracts reviews for any app on Apple's App Store.** Each review comes with its star rating, title, text, date, author and the developer's reply. It covers any country, goes past the 500-review limit of Apple's public review feed (tens of thousands of reviews per app), and costs $0.08 per 1,000 reviews.

It works as an **App Store reviews API**:

- call it from code
- schedule it to monitor new reviews
- let AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) use it through Apify's MCP server

#### Quick facts

- **What you get, one row per review:**
  - stars, title, review text, date, the reviewer's public name
  - whether the review was edited
  - the developer's reply and its date
  - app name, developer, overall rating, number of ratings and App Store URL
- **Any app, any country:** paste App Store URLs, numeric App IDs (`324684580`) or just app names (`Spotify`), and list the storefronts you want (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp`, …).
- **More than 500 reviews:** most App Store review scrapers read Apple's public review feed, which stops at the newest 500 reviews per country. This Actor reads the review API behind apps.apple.com and pages back tens of thousands of reviews for popular apps.
- **Newest or most helpful first**, plus star filters such as "1 and 2 stars only" for complaints.
- **Only new reviews:** scheduled runs return just the reviews you haven't seen. Repeats aren't charged.
- **Price:** $0.08 per 1,000 reviews (less on paid Apify plans). Apify's free $5 monthly credit covers over 60,000 reviews.
- **Also reads Google Play apps** when you give a Google Play URL or package name.
- **AI agents:** connect `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=automationnation/app-store-reviews-scraper`.

### What can you do with App Store reviews?

- **Product and engineering teams.** See what users complain about after each release: filter 1 and 2 stars and read the newest first.
- **App store optimisation (ASO).** Find the words users use, the features they ask for and how ratings move in each country.
- **Competitor research.** Pull reviews of rival apps and compare what people praise and hate.
- **Customer support.** See which reviews got a developer reply, how fast, and what was said.
- **AI and analytics.** Feed clean review data into sentiment analysis, topic modelling or an LLM. For a ready-made AI report of bugs, feature requests and critical issues, see [App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper + AI](https://apify.com/automationnation/app-store-review-miner).

### How to scrape App Store reviews

1. Click **Try for free** (or **Start**).
2. Add apps: an App Store URL, an App ID such as `570060128`, or an app name such as `Duolingo`.
3. Optionally list countries (`us`, `gb`, `de`, …). Leave it empty to use the country in each URL.
4. Set **Max reviews per app**, the sort order, and optionally a star range.
5. Click **Start**. Download JSON, CSV or Excel, or use the API.
6. For monitoring, tick **Only new reviews** and schedule the Actor daily.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580", "570060128", "Notion"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 1000,
  "sort": "newest",
  "minRating": 1,
  "maxRating": 2
}
```

#### Output example

```json
{
  "platform": "App Store",
  "appId": "324684580",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "us",
  "reviewId": "14617330566",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": "Glitches",
  "text": "What is up with all of the glitches and lagging lately?? And playlists not loading/updating?",
  "date": "2026-10-02T03:19:14.000Z",
  "userName": "(the reviewer's public name)",
  "isEdited": true,
  "replyText": "Hi. Thanks for sharing your experience. We suggest clean reinstalling the app as this process is a step above a basic reinstall and it fixes many common issues…",
  "replyDate": "2026-08-24T17:34:54.000Z",
  "developer": "Spotify",
  "appRating": 4.77,
  "appRatingsCount": 42389641,
  "appUrl": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-03T11:57:03.671Z"
}
```

A reply can be older than the review when the reviewer edited the review after the developer answered.

#### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `platform`, `appId`, `appName`, `country` | Which app and storefront |
| `reviewId`, `rating`, `title`, `text`, `date` | The review; `rating` is 1 to 5 stars, `date` is ISO |
| `userName` | The reviewer's public display name |
| `isEdited` | Whether the reviewer edited the review |
| `replyText`, `replyDate` | The developer's reply, when there is one |
| `developer`, `appRating`, `appRatingsCount`, `appUrl` | App details, on every row (switch off with "Add app details") |
| `thumbsUp`, `appVersion`, `reviewUrl` | Filled for Google Play apps; empty for App Store reviews |

The **Run summary** (key-value store `OUTPUT`) lists each app and country with its review count and average rating.

### How much does it cost?

$0.08 per 1,000 reviews on Apify's Free plan, and less on paid plans. Apps that can't be found and reviews already returned by earlier runs (Only new reviews) are free. Apify's free $5 monthly credit covers over 60,000 reviews.

### Review monitoring: Only new reviews

Tick **Only new reviews** and schedule the Actor, for example daily. Each run returns only the reviews that earlier runs with the same app, country and sort didn't return, and stops paging as soon as it reaches reviews it has seen. Add a Slack, email or webhook integration to get new 1-star reviews as they arrive.

### Use it with AI agents (MCP)

**Hosted:** add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=automationnation/app-store-reviews-scraper` to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, and sign in with Apify.

**Local (Claude Desktop or Cursor config):**

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "app-store-reviews": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apify/actors-mcp-server", "--tools", "automationnation/app-store-reviews-scraper"],
      "env": { "APIFY_TOKEN": "YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}
```

Then ask, for example, "What do UK users complain about in Duolingo's App Store reviews this month?"

### Integrations and API

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/automationnation~app-store-reviews-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"apps":["324684580"],"countries":["us"],"maxReviewsPerApp":100}'
```

Python and JavaScript: the `apify-client` package with Actor ID `automationnation/app-store-reviews-scraper`. n8n, Make, Zapier, Google Sheets, Slack and webhooks work through Apify's integrations.

### FAQ

**How many reviews can I get?**
Tens of thousands per app and country for popular apps. The Actor pages back through Apple's review API until it reaches your limit or the oldest review.

**Why do other scrapers stop at 500 reviews?**
Apple's public RSS review feed only returns the newest 500 reviews per country (10 pages of 50). This Actor uses the review API that apps.apple.com itself uses, and keeps the feed as a fallback.

**Can I get reviews from several countries?**
Yes. List the storefronts in `countries`; each app is read once per country, and `country` is on every row.

**Does it include the developer's replies?**
Yes, `replyText` and `replyDate` whenever the developer replied.

**Can I get Google Play reviews too?**
Yes, paste Google Play URLs or package names. There is also a dedicated [Google Play Reviews Scraper](https://apify.com/automationnation/google-play-reviews-scraper).

**Is it legal to scrape App Store reviews?**
Reviews are public, but they include reviewers' display names. Use the data for analysis and follow the privacy laws that apply to you, such as GDPR.
