## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 articles

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Articles, Sources & Dates

**Google News Scraper is an Apify Actor that returns Google News results for any topic, company or keyword: headline, source, publish date and article URL.** It's built for code and AI agents: one JSON row per article, a clean schema and runs that finish in seconds.

#### Quick facts

- **What you get, one row per article:** `title`, `snippet`, `source`, `publishedAt`, `publishedText`, `url`, `domain`, `googleLink` and more (all fields below).
- **Any country and language:** set `country` and `language`.
- **Fast:** plain HTTP through Apify's Google SERP proxy, no browser. A search takes a few seconds.
- **Price:** $1.00 per 1,000 articles (less on paid Apify plans). Apify's free $5 monthly credit covers 5,000 articles.
- **AI agents:** connect `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=automationnation/google-news-scraper` (setup below).

### What can you do with it?

- **Brand and media monitoring:** track every article that mentions your company, product or competitors.
- **Finance and investing:** collect news on tickers and companies for research and sentiment signals.
- **PR and comms:** see which outlets cover a topic and how fast stories spread.
- **AI agents and RAG:** give an LLM fresh, dated news with sources.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free**.
2. Add one or more **search queries**.
3. Set the **country**, language and how many articles you want per search, plus any filters.
4. Click **Start** and download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

  ],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 30,

#### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `query` | The search this row came from. |
| `position` | Rank in the results for this search, from 1. |
| `title` | Headline. |
| `snippet` | Summary text under the headline. |
| `source` | Publisher, e.g. Reuters. |
| `publishedAt` | Publish time (ISO), from Google's timestamp. |
| `publishedText` | Publish time as shown, e.g. 2 hours ago. |

| `scrapedAt` | When it was scraped (ISO). |

The **Run summary** (key-value store `OUTPUT`) lists each search with its status and result count.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per article saved; searches that fail are free.

| Articles | Free & Bronze plans | Silver | Gold and above |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $1.00 | $0.90 | $0.80 |
| 10,000 | $10.00 | $9.00 | $8.00 |

Set a **maximum cost per run** in the run options; the Actor stops at your limit and keeps everything saved up to then.

### Use it with AI agents (MCP)

**Hosted:** add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=automationnation/google-news-scraper` to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client and sign in with Apify.

**Local (Claude Desktop or Cursor config):**

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "google-news-scraper": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@apify/actors-mcp-server", "--tools", "automationnation/google-news-scraper"],
      "env": { "APIFY_TOKEN": "YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}
```

Then ask, for example: "Summarise this week's news about Apple earnings, with sources."

### Integrations and API

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/automationnation~google-news-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"queries": ["apple earnings"], "maxResultsPerQuery": 10, "country": "us"}'
```

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("automationnation/google-news-scraper").call(run_input={"queries": ["apple earnings"], "maxResultsPerQuery": 10})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item["title"])
```

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: 'YOUR_TOKEN' });
const run = await client.actor('automationnation/google-news-scraper').call({"queries": ["apple earnings"], "maxResultsPerQuery": 10});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

Schedules, webhooks, Google Sheets, Slack, n8n, Make and Zapier work through Apify's integrations.

### FAQ

**How fresh is it?**
Live Google News results at run time. Use `time` = Past hour or Past 24 hours and schedule the Actor for monitoring.

**Do I get the full article text?**
You get the headline, snippet, source, date and URL. For full text, pass the URLs to a content crawler such as Apify's Website Content Crawler.

**Which countries and languages?**
Any: set `country` and `language`, e.g. de + de for German news.

**How many articles per search?**
Up to 300 (30 pages). Google stops earlier for narrow topics.

**Is it legal to scrape Google?**
The Actor reads public Google results, like a person searching. Use the data in line with the laws and terms that apply to you.

**Why is it so fast and cheap?**
It reads Google's results pages over plain HTTP through Apify's Google SERP proxy: no browser, about a second per page.
