## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Fast ATS Job Scraper - Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable

Pull live job postings straight from the source: the applicant tracking system that the
company itself publishes. Give it a careers URL and the ATS is detected automatically.

Supported boards: **Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee and SmartRecruiters.**

### Why go to the ATS instead of a job aggregator

Aggregators lag, duplicate and drop postings. The ATS board **is** the company's own list,
so a job appears here the moment the company publishes it and disappears the moment it is
filled. No API key, no browser, no proxy.

### Input

Paste careers URLs, or use the short `board:slug` form:

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "https://boards.greenhouse.io/stripe",
    "https://jobs.lever.co/example",
    "ashby:ramp",
    "https://apply.workable.com/loomly/"
  ],
  "remoteOnly": true,
  "titleContains": "engineer",
  "includeDescription": false,
  "maxJobsPerCompany": 0
}
```

| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| `companies` | Careers URL or `board:slug`. The ATS is detected from the URL. |
| `includeDescription` | Adds the full posting text. Off by default - it makes rows much larger. |
| `remoteOnly` | Keeps only postings that look remote. |
| `titleContains` | Case-insensitive filter on the job title. |
| `maxJobsPerCompany` | Cap per company. `0` means no limit. |

### Output

One flat row per job, with the same shape across all six boards:

```json
{
  "title": "Senior Backend Engineer",
  "company": "stripe",
  "ats": "greenhouse",
  "location": "Remote - US",
  "isRemote": true,
  "department": "Engineering",
  "employmentType": "Full-time",
  "publishedAt": "2026-07-28T10:04:00+00:00",
  "url": "https://boards.greenhouse.io/stripe/jobs/123456",
  "jobId": "123456",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-08-05T13:20:00+00:00"
}
```

Dates from six different ATS formats are normalised to **ISO 8601 UTC**, so you can sort
across companies without cleaning anything.

A `JOB_SUMMARY` record in the key-value store lists every company, how many jobs it
returned, and the reason for any that returned none.

### No personal data

**A job posting is a company, not a person.** Recruiter names, hiring-manager names and
contact details are never collected, even when the ATS returns them in the same payload.

### Honest limits

- A company that has **no open roles** returns zero rows. That is not an error - and you
  are **not charged** for it.
- A wrong slug returns `HTTP 404`. Check the careers URL; it is reported in `JOB_SUMMARY`.
- **SmartRecruiters** does not include the description text in its list endpoint, so
  `description` comes back empty for that board even with `includeDescription` on.
- Some companies self-host their board behind a custom domain. If the URL is not one of the
  six supported hosts, it is skipped and listed under `skipped`.

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small charge on start, then per job returned. **A run that finds no jobs
costs you the start event only** - you never pay for rows that do not exist.

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

One entry per company. Paste the careers page URL (https://boards.greenhouse.io/stripe, https://jobs.lever.co/netflix, https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/ramp) and the ATS is detected automatically. You can also write board:slug, e.g. greenhouse:stripe.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the complete posting text. Makes rows much larger. Off by default.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only postings whose location looks remote.

## `titleContains` (type: `string`):

Case-insensitive filter on the job title. Leave empty for everything.

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

0 means no limit.

  "maxJobsPerCompany": 0
}
```
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("automia-admin/ats-jobs-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
