## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Deliveroo Reviews Scraper — Ratings, Comments & Tags

Collect **Deliveroo customer reviews** for any restaurant or shop, or for the top
restaurants of a whole area: star rating, written comment, the praise or
complaint tags customers picked, and a clean ISO date. Sort by newest, oldest,
best or worst, keep only reviews since a date, or only 1–2 star complaints.

Works in **7 Deliveroo markets**: United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy,
Belgium, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. No browser, no login, no proxy.

### Who uses this

| You are… | You use it to… |
|---|---|
| A restaurant owner or franchise manager | Monitor new reviews every week and catch complaints early |
| A brand or CX analyst | Measure sentiment and recurring tags ("Hot food", "Missing items") across a chain |
| An agency | Produce reputation reports for restaurant clients |
| A researcher | Study food-delivery feedback at scale |

### What you get (output fields)

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `rating` | 1 | Stars, 1–5 |
| `text` | "Chicken still have feathers on it…" | Written comment (null if the customer left only stars or tags) |
| `tags` | \["Food quality"] | Tags the customer picked |
| `date` | 2026-09-25 | ISO date |
| `date_is_approximate` | false | True when Deliveroo shows e.g. "4 weeks ago" |
| `date_text` | "6 days ago" | Exactly as Deliveroo shows it |
| `position` | 10 | Position in Deliveroo's list for your sort order |
| `restaurant_name` | Miss Millie's Chicken - Gloucester Road | |
| `restaurant_rating` / `restaurant_rating_count` | 4.4 / "500+" | The restaurant's overall score |
| `restaurant_url`, `restaurant_id`, `restaurant_drn_id` | … | Deliveroo identifiers |
| `review_id`, `market`, `scraped_at` | … | |

Reviewer names are anonymised by Deliveroo itself ("Deliveroo customer"), so the
dataset contains no personal names.

### Use cases

1. **Weekly complaint alerts.** Most recent order, "Only reviews since" = last
week, maximum stars = 2, scheduled every Monday with a webhook to Slack.
2. **Chain benchmarking.** Pass every branch URL of your chain and compare
average stars and top complaint tags per branch.
3. **Competitor intelligence.** Pull the latest 200 reviews of the 10
   best-rated competitors in your area.
4. **Sentiment models.** Feed comments and tags into an LLM or classifier.

### Input

| Parameter | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| **Deliveroo URLs** (`startUrls`) | Restaurant pages (`…/menu/<city>/<area>/<name>`) and/or area pages (`…/restaurants/<city>/<area>`) | one example restaurant |
| **Max reviews per restaurant** | Per-restaurant cap; Deliveroo keeps about two years of reviews | 100 |
| **Review order** (`sort`) | newest, oldest, highest_rated, lowest_rated | newest |
| **Only reviews since** (`since`) | YYYY-MM-DD. With "Most recent" the run stops at the first older review | — |
| **Only reviews with a written comment** | Skip star-only and tag-only reviews | off |
| **Minimum / maximum stars** | Star range, e.g. 1–2 for complaints | 1 / 5 |
| **Restaurants per area** | For area URLs: how many restaurants (rated ones first) | 10 |
| **Max reviews in total** (`maxItems`) | Stop the run after this many rows | 1000 |

### Scheduling, webhooks and integrations

Schedule runs in Apify Console, send results to Slack, email, Google Sheets, Make,
Zapier or S3 with webhooks and integrations, or call it from the Apify API. For
monitoring, combine **Most recent** with **Only reviews since** so each run reads
only new reviews.

### Use it from AI assistants (MCP)

Available as a tool through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com), so
Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients can ask, for example, *"What are customers
complaining about at my three branches this month?"*

### FAQ

**How far back do reviews go?** Deliveroo shows roughly the last two years. Use
"Oldest" order to start from the earliest.

**Why do many reviews have no text?** Many customers leave only stars and tags.
Turn on "Only reviews with a written comment" to skip them; you pay only for rows
you get.

**Are dates exact?** Recent reviews show as "Today", "2 days ago" or a full
date, which are exact. "3 weeks ago" or "1 month ago" are converted to an
estimated date and flagged with `date_is_approximate: true`.

**Does it collect personal data?** No. Deliveroo shows every reviewer as
"Deliveroo customer"; the Actor stores no names or accounts. You are responsible
for using the data in line with Deliveroo's terms and applicable law.

**Do I need a proxy?** No.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Restaurant pages (https://deliveroo.co.uk/menu/<city>/<area>/<name>) and/or area pages (https://deliveroo.co.uk/restaurants/<city>/<area>, which take the first restaurants listed there, see 'Restaurants per area'). Supported: deliveroo.co.uk, .ie, .fr, .it, .be, .ae, .com.kw.

## `maxReviewsPerRestaurant` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many matching reviews for each restaurant. Deliveroo keeps about two years of reviews.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Which reviews to take first.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional date (YYYY-MM-DD). Keeps only newer reviews; with 'Most recent' order the run stops at the first older review, so it is ideal for daily or weekly monitoring.

## `onlyWithText` (type: `boolean`):

Skip star-only and tag-only reviews.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep reviews with at least this many stars.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Keep reviews with at most this many stars (e.g. 2 for complaint monitoring).

## `maxRestaurantsPerArea` (type: `integer`):

For area URLs: how many restaurants to take (those with ratings first, in Deliveroo's listing order).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop the run after this many review rows.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed: Deliveroo's API works without a proxy. Only set this if you see repeated errors.
