## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Product Hunt Scraper

Export **Product Hunt launches and products** by date, keyword, category or URL: product, website and social links,
upvotes, comments and ranks, topics and categories, review rating, and the **makers and hunter with their headlines,
X, website and LinkedIn links**. Turn on **Find contacts** to add the emails and phone numbers published on the product's
and makers' websites. Clean JSON, CSV or Excel, ready for your CRM.

### Who uses it

- **Sales teams and agencies**: a daily list of new startups with their website, founders and contact details.
- **Investors and scouts**: the day's, week's or month's top launches with upvotes and the team behind them.
- **Dev-tool and SaaS vendors**: find launches in your niche (keyword or category) and reach the makers.
- **Market researchers**: map a category with ratings, review counts and launch history.

### What you get (one row per product)

| Field | Example |
| ----- | ------- |
| `product_name`, `product_tagline`, `product_url` | `/dev/null`, `a social network for devs` |

### How to use it

| **Category** | Products in Product Hunt categories (slug or URL, e.g. `crm`, `/categories/ai-agents`). |
| **URLs** | Specific products or launches (`/products/attio`, `/products/attio/launches/...`, `/posts/...`). |

Each product appears once per run, even if it matches several dates or keywords.

### Contacts

With **Find contacts** on, the actor visits the product website and the makers' personal websites (home page plus up to
three contact or about pages each) and keeps emails on the site's own domain or a personal mailbox, plus phone numbers
from `tel:` links. Placeholder addresses from code samples (`you@example.com`) are dropped. In our tests about 4 in 10
products had a published email. You pay the contact event only for products where an email or phone was found.

### Scheduling and integrations

Run it every morning for yesterday's launches (leave the dates empty) and send the results to Google Sheets, HubSpot,
a webhook, Make, Zapier or n8n with Apify integrations.

### Use it from AI agents (MCP)

AI assistants that support MCP can call this actor through Apify's MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`), for example
"list yesterday's top 10 Product Hunt launches with their makers' X accounts".

### FAQ

**Does it need a Product Hunt account or API key?** No.

**How far back can I go?** Leaderboards work for any past date; one run covers up to 400 days.

**Why are some makers missing?** Some launches list no makers, or makers hide their profiles; the hunter is still there.

**Are emails guaranteed?** No. The actor only returns what the product or maker publishes on their own websites.

**Is it legal?** The actor collects publicly visible information. Use contact data in line with the privacy and
anti-spam laws that apply to you (for example GDPR and CAN-SPAM).

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the actor's Issues tab.
