## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Trustpilot Business Leads Scraper

Turn Trustpilot's company directory into lead lists. Pick a category and a country (or a keyword) and get one row per company with its **website, email, phone, address, TrustScore and review count**. No Trustpilot account, API key or cookies needed.

### Who uses this

- **Lead-generation and sales teams** who prospect by niche and country: every row already carries the company's public contact details.
- **Reputation-management and review-software sellers** who look for companies with a low TrustScore, many reviews, or an unclaimed profile.
- **Market researchers and data resellers** who need deduplicated company lists per industry and market.

### What you get per company

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `name`, `domain`, `url` | Company name, Trustpilot identifier (the domain) and profile link |
| `website` | The company's own website |
| `email`, `contact_url` | Public contact email; when Trustpilot shows a contact page instead, its link is in `contact_url` |
| `phone`, `address`, `city`, `zip_code`, `country` | Contact details shown on the profile (not every company publishes all of them) |
| `trust_score`, `stars`, `review_count` | Current TrustScore (1-5), star rounding and total reviews |
| `primary_category`, `categories`, `category_names` | Trustpilot category ids and names |
| `source_country`, `source_category`, `source_keyword` | The query that found the company |
| `is_claimed`, `reply_percentage`, `avg_days_to_reply`, `review_count_12m`, `ai_summary`, `claimed_date` | **Only with "Enrich with profile data"**: claimed status, how often and how fast the company answers reviews, reviews in the last 12 months, Trustpilot's AI summary |

In a 600-company US sample every row had a website, about 75% a valid email, 67% a phone number and 69% an address. Trustpilot only shows what a company chose to publish.

### High-value use cases

1. **Niche outreach lists**: all "Pet Stores" in the US with an email and at least 4.0 stars, ready for your CRM.
2. **Reputation-management prospecting**: companies rated 3.0 or lower with hundreds of reviews (set Maximum TrustScore and Minimum reviews).
3. **Engagement gaps**: enable profile enrichment and filter on `is_claimed = false` or a low `reply_percentage` to find companies that ignore their reviews.
4. **Market maps**: every company in a category across several countries, with review volume and score.
5. **New-company monitoring**: schedule the actor with "Only companies not seen in a previous run" to receive just the new ones each week.

### Input

| Parameter | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `categories` | Trustpilot category ids (the last part of `trustpilot.com/categories/<id>`, e.g. `electronics_technology`, `hotel`, `pet_stores`). `*` = every top-level category |
| `keywords` | Search companies by keyword instead of, or in addition to, categories |
| `countries` | ISO codes such as `US`, `GB`, `DE`; `*` = all 250 |
| `location` | Optional city filter |
| `minTrustScore` / `maxTrustScore` | Score range (1 to 5) |
| `minReviews` | Skip companies with fewer reviews |
| `onlyWithEmail` / `onlyWithPhone` | Skip rows without contact data (skipped rows are not charged) |
| `enrichProfile` | One extra request per company for claimed status, reply behaviour and AI summary |
| `onlyNewSinceLastRun` | Monitor mode: return only companies not returned in an earlier run with the same input |
| `maxItems` | Maximum companies (you pay per company, so this caps your spend) |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Keep Apify Proxy on |

#### Example input

```json
{
    "categories": ["electronics_technology"],
    "countries": ["US"],
    "minTrustScore": 4,
    "onlyWithEmail": true,
    "maxItems": 500
}
```

#### Example output

```json
{
    "name": "B&H Photo-Video",
    "domain": "www.bhphotovideo.com",
    "website": "https://bandh.com?BI=19550",
    "email": "cs@bandh.com",
    "phone": "877-619-4907",
    "address": "420 9th Ave",
    "city": "New York",
    "zip_code": "10001",
    "country": "United States",
    "trust_score": 4.9,
    "review_count": 331391,
    "primary_category": "Photo Shop",
    "source_country": "US",
    "source_category": "electronics_technology"
}
```

### How large lists work

Trustpilot shows at most 10,000 companies per query. When a category reaches that limit the actor automatically descends into its subcategories and, for large leaf categories, re-queries with several TrustScore minimums and sort orders, removing duplicates. Very large leaf categories may still not be listed completely; for full coverage run several narrower categories, cities or score ranges.

### Scheduling and integrations

Run it on a schedule (weekly lead refresh), send results to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or a webhook, and download CSV, Excel or JSON from the dataset. Run it from your own code with the Apify API or MCP-compatible AI assistants through the Apify MCP server.

### FAQ

**Does it need a Trustpilot login?** No. It reads the public company pages and listings.

**Why are some emails empty?** Trustpilot only shows contact details a company published. Use `onlyWithEmail` to pay only for rows that have one.

**Does it scrape reviews?** No, this actor returns company data. Enrichment adds review-behaviour statistics, not review text.

**Is it legal to use?** The data is publicly visible. You are responsible for using contact data in line with the laws that apply to you (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, local rules) and Trustpilot's terms.

This actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by Trustpilot.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Trustpilot category ids, e.g. <code>electronics_technology</code>, <code>hotel</code>, <code>pet_stores</code>, <code>marketing_agency</code> (the id is the last part of trustpilot.com/categories/\<id>). Use <code>\*</code> for every top-level category. Large categories are split into subcategories automatically.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Search companies by keyword instead of (or in addition to) categories, e.g. <code>plumber</code> or <code>crm software</code>.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter ISO codes of the country Trustpilot lists the company in (US, GB, DE, FR, ...). Use <code>\*</code> for all 250.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Only companies in this city, e.g. <code>Boston</code>.

## `minTrustScore` (type: `number`):

Server-side filter, 1 to 5 (e.g. 4 keeps companies rated 4.0 and up).

## `maxTrustScore` (type: `number`):

Keep only companies rated at or below this score (prospects with reputation problems). Applied after crawling.

## `minReviews` (type: `integer`):

Skip companies with fewer reviews than this.

## `onlyWithEmail` (type: `boolean`):

Rows without a valid email address are skipped and not charged.

## `onlyWithPhone` (type: `boolean`):

Rows without a phone number are skipped and not charged.

## `enrichProfile` (type: `boolean`):

One extra request per company adds claimed status, reply rate, average days to reply, reviews in the last 12 months and the AI summary. Charged as a separate event per enriched company.

## `onlyNewSinceLastRun` (type: `boolean`):

Monitor mode: remembers the company ids returned for this input between runs (kept in your account) and returns only new ones. Schedule it weekly for a stream of new companies.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many rows. You are charged per row, so this caps your spend.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Trustpilot blocks some datacenter IPs. Keep Apify Proxy enabled; the actor opens a browser once every few minutes and reuses the session over plain HTTP from the same exit IP.
