## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## West Marine Store Inventory Checker

Find out **which West Marine stores have an item on hand, and how many units**. Give it
product URLs, product ids or variant SKUs. Get one row per store with the **quantity in stock**,
a low-stock flag, and the store's address, phone number, coordinates, opening hours and
distance from your ZIP code.

### Who uses this

- **Resellers and local buyers:** see which nearby stores have stock before you drive over or
  list an item.
- **Brands and distributors:** monitor retail stock levels and stock-outs across West Marine's
  store network.
- **App and tool builders:** power "pick up today near me" features for boaters and marinas.

### What you get

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `variant_id`, `variant_name`, `product_id`, `product_name`, `brand` | What was checked |
| `manufacturer_sku`, `price`, `online_stock_quantity`, `product_url` | Product context |
| `store_id`, `store_name` | West Marine store number and name |
| `street`, `city`, `state`, `zip`, `phone` | Store contact details |
| `latitude`, `longitude`, `distance_miles` | Location, and distance from your ZIP code |
| `hours` | Opening hours for each weekday |
| `in_stock`, `quantity`, `low_stock` | **Units on hand** and the store's low-stock flag |
| `scraped_at` | When the stock was read (UTC) |

### Use cases

1. **Nearest store with stock.** Enter a product and your ZIP code; rows come back sorted by
   distance.
2. **State-wide availability.** Check a SKU across every store in FL, CA or MD.
3. **Stock-out monitoring.** Schedule daily runs for your key SKUs and alert when `quantity`
   drops to 0.
4. **Store-level sell-through.** Compare quantities over time to estimate local demand.

### Input

| Parameter | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `products` | Product URLs, product ids (checks every variant) or variant SKUs | required |
| `zipCode` | Only stores near this US ZIP code | — |
| `radiusMiles` | Radius around the ZIP code | `50` |
| `states` | Only stores in these states (e.g. `FL`, `CA`) | — |
| `storeIds` | Only these store numbers | — |
| `onlyStoresCarryingProduct` | Skip stores that don't stock the item | `true` |
| `onlyInStock` | Return only stores with quantity > 0 | `false` |
| `maxResults` | Row cap | `1000` |

With no store filter, every West Marine store that carries the item is checked.

### Scheduling and integrations

Schedule runs in Apify and push results to Google Sheets, Slack, Make, Zapier, webhooks or
S3. Download any run as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the Apify API.

### Use with AI assistants (MCP)

Add this actor to an MCP client (`https://mcp.apify.com`) so an assistant can answer questions
like "which West Marine near 33101 has the 8 lb anchor package in stock?"

### FAQ

**How accurate is the stock count?**
Quantities are read live from West Marine's own store inventory at run time. Stores can sell
out during the day, so treat it as a snapshot.

**Which stores are covered?**
West Marine's active US retail stores. The actor ships a directory of the stores that report
inventory, and also accepts any store number directly.

**Why do I get fewer stores than I expected?**
By default only stores that carry the item are checked. Turn off
`onlyStoresCarryingProduct` to query every store in scope.

**Do I need proxies?**
No.

**Product ids or SKUs?**
A product id (e.g. `P005_159_001_006`) checks every size or variant. A variant SKU (e.g.
`11610540`) checks just that one.

**Is this legal?**
It reads publicly available inventory information. You're responsible for using the data in
line with applicable laws and West Marine's terms.

# Actor input Schema

## `products` (type: `array`):

West Marine product page URLs, product ids (e.g. P005\_159\_001\_006 — checks every variant) or variant SKUs (e.g. 11610540 — checks just that variant).

## `zipCode` (type: `string`):

Only stores within the radius of this 5-digit US ZIP code (rows include distance\_miles, nearest first).

## `radiusMiles` (type: `integer`):

Search radius around the ZIP code.

## `states` (type: `array`):

Only stores in these US states (2-letter codes, e.g. FL, CA, MD).

## `storeIds` (type: `array`):

Only these West Marine store numbers (e.g. 1266). Leave all store filters empty to check every store.

## `onlyStoresCarryingProduct` (type: `boolean`):

Skip stores that don't list the SKU in their assortment (faster, cheaper). Turn off to query every store in scope.

## `onlyInStock` (type: `boolean`):

Return only stores that currently have the item on hand (quantity > 0).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many store × SKU rows.
