## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Grants.gov Fit and Deadline Feed

Search currently posted federal grant opportunities by topic, minimum days to close, and an optional Grants.gov applicant type code. Each result includes the source notice URL, deadline, published applicant types, and a plainly labeled preliminary code match. The Actor never decides full eligibility; read the complete notice before applying.

**Independent product notice:** This Actor is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Grants.gov or the U.S. government. Source: [Grants.gov](https://www.grants.gov/). Data may change; consult the official opportunity page for current terms and dates.

Example input:

```json
{"keyword":"community education","maxItems":10,"maxScanned":25,"minDaysUntilClose":7}
```

`maxScanned` limits the search records inspected to 50. Only public `api.grants.gov` endpoints are contacted. No login, proxy, browser, or AI model is used. Search result order is the order returned by Grants.gov. A blank/invalid closing date is skipped. A code match only checks the published applicant type code (or unrestricted code `99`), and is not a legal or program-specific eligibility determination.

The Actor currently emits records to the default dataset. Store PPE should use the platform's automatic dataset-item event; do not also configure a custom item charge. No price is embedded in code.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

A specific topic such as rural health, community education, or clean energy.

## `applicantTypeCode` (type: `string`):

Two-digit Grants.gov applicant type code. Leave empty to include all types. Code matches do not establish full eligibility.

## `minDaysUntilClose` (type: `integer`):

Skip opportunities closing sooner than this many calendar days from the run date.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many validated opportunities have been emitted.

## `maxScanned` (type: `integer`):

Caps requests to Grants.gov; the Actor scans at most 50 search hits.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keyword": "community",
  "minDaysUntilClose": 0,
  "maxItems": 10,
