This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Domain to Company do?

**Domain to Company** takes a list of website domains and returns one company
record per domain: the company name, its LinkedIn company page URL, headcount,
country, headquarters, founding year, a short description and the last funding
round when one is on record. It is a company lookup by domain for people who
have a column of websites and need to know who is behind each one.

- One row per distinct domain in your list.
- You pay only for a domain that resolved to a company with a LinkedIn company
  URL. Everything else is a free row that says why.
- Up to 1,000 domains per run. Paste full links if that is what you have:
  scheme, `www`, path and capitals are ignored, and repeats are looked up once.
- Answers come from our own database of company records. Nothing is fetched
  from the websites you submit or from LinkedIn, so there are no proxies to
  configure and no browser sessions to wait for.
- Works from the Apify Console, the API, schedules, and any integration that
  can start an Actor and read a dataset.

### What data do you get from a domain?

Fill rates are what we measured on our test sample of 69 domains on
2026-09-30 (see "What is the match rate" below), counted over the 60 rows that
resolved.

| Field | Example | Present in resolved rows |
|---|---|---|
| `domain` | `acme-robotics.com` | 100% |
| `companyName` | `Acme Robotics` | 100% |
| `linkedinUrl` | `https://www.linkedin.com/company/acme-robotics` | 100% |
| `employeeCount` | `212` | 100% |
| `employeeRange` | `201-500` | 100% |
| `country` | `DE` | 95% |
| `description` | first 500 characters | 95% |
| `website` | `https://www.acme-robotics.com` | 97% |
| `hqLocality`, `hqRegion` | `Munich`, `Bavaria` | 88% |
| `founded` | `2016` | 50% |
| `industry` | `Industrial Automation` | 43% |
| `hasFunding` | `true` / `false` | 97% |
| `lastRoundType`, `lastRoundDate` | `series_b`, `2025-03-14` | 53% |
| `lastRoundAmountUsd` | `40000000` | 45% |
| `_matchCandidates` | `4` | only when more than one company page lists the domain |

Funding is not available for every company. In our sample 32 of 60 resolved
rows carried a last round: 17 of 22 well-known companies, 12 of 22 startups and
3 of 16 small local firms. `hasFunding: false` means no round is on record for
the matched company record. It does not prove the company never raised.

### How to convert a domain to a company (3 steps)

1. Paste your domains or website links into **Website domains**, one per line.
2. Press **Start**.
3. Export the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON, or read it through the API.

### How much does it cost to look up a company by domain?

**$0.0055 per company found, which is $5.50 per 1,000.** That is the only
result fee. The other LinkedIn Company by Domain Actors on this shelf charge
$7.50 to $8 per 1,000 (checked on 2026-10-01).

| Outcome | `_status` | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Domain resolved to one company, LinkedIn company URL included | `found` | $0.0055 |
| No company lists this domain as its website | `not_found` | free |
| Several unrelated companies list the domain and none matches its name | `ambiguous` | free |
| Shared hosting address or a page on a social platform | `ambiguous` | free |
| Not a domain (an email address, a bare word, an IP address) | `invalid` | free |
| The data service failed on this domain | `error` | free |

Prices above are for Apify's Free and Starter plans. Scale plans pay 10%
less and Business plans and up 20% less, applied by Apify automatically; the
Store page quotes the lowest of these as "from".

A resolved row is charged whether or not it has funding fields, because
funding exists only for some companies. If you set a maximum charge for the
run, the run stops when it is reached and keeps the rows already delivered.

### Input

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "acme-robotics.com",
    "https://www.northwind-logistics.co.uk/about",
    "somebody.github.io"
  ]
}
```

`domains` is the only field. Subdomains that name a part of a site (`www`,
`blog`, `shop`, `careers`, `app` and similar) are folded into the main domain.
Other subdomains are looked up as written.

### Output

A found row:

```json
{
  "_status": "found",
  "_input": { "domain": "acme-robotics.com" },
  "_matchCandidates": 3,
  "domain": "acme-robotics.com",
  "companyName": "Acme Robotics",
  "linkedinUrl": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/acme-robotics",
  "website": "https://www.acme-robotics.com",
  "industry": "Industrial Automation",
  "employeeCount": 212,
  "employeeRange": "201-500",
  "country": "DE",
  "hqLocality": "Munich",
  "hqRegion": "Bavaria",
  "founded": 2016,
  "description": "Acme Robotics builds pick-and-place cells for mid-sized warehouses.",
  "hasFunding": true,
  "lastRoundType": "series_b",
  "lastRoundDate": "2025-03-14",
  "lastRoundAmountUsd": 40000000
}
```

A miss, free of charge:

```json
{
  "_status": "not_found",
  "_input": { "domain": "northwind-logistics.co.uk" },
  "domain": "northwind-logistics.co.uk",
  "_error": "no company lists this domain as its website — the company may be registered under a different domain than the site it runs."
}
```

A refusal, also free:

```json
{
  "_status": "ambiguous",
  "_input": { "domain": "somebody.github.io" },
  "_error": "github.io is a shared hosting platform — thousands of unrelated businesses publish under it, so it does not identify one company. Use the company's own domain."
}
```

Fields we do not know are left out of the row instead of being filled with
empty values.

### How is the company chosen when several share a domain?

A domain is not a unique key. Subsidiaries, regional offices, product pages
and unrelated pages that simply typed someone else's website all list the same
domain. The Actor picks in this order:

1. The company whose name or LinkedIn page handle is exactly the domain's name
   (`stripe.com` → "Stripe").
2. Otherwise the largest company whose name contains the domain's name.
3. If exactly one company lists the domain, that company.
4. Otherwise the row is `ambiguous` and free. We do not guess.

When more than one company page lists the domain, the row carries
`_matchCandidates` with how many did. For a big brand the pick can be a
division of the same brand instead of the parent (in our sample `toyota.com`
resolved to the North American company), so check rows with a high
`_matchCandidates` if the exact legal entity matters to you.

### Use cases

- Add the LinkedIn company URL, headcount and country to CRM accounts that
  only have a website.
- Sort inbound sign-ups by company size and funding stage, using the domain of
  the email they signed up with.
- Turn a list of websites from a directory or an event into a table of
  companies you can filter.
- Find the rows in your list where the "website" is a shared hosting address
  or a social page, not a company domain.

### FAQ

#### How do I find a company from a domain?

Put the domain into the input and run the Actor. If a company in our database
lists that domain as its website, you get its record back.

#### What is the match rate for domain to company?

On our test sample, measured 2026-09-30, 60 of 69 domains resolved (87%). The
sample was domains we had not looked up before: 22 well-known companies
(22 resolved), 24 startups (22 resolved) and 23 small local firms in Germany,
France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Australia and India (16 resolved). All 60
resolved rows named the company we expected when we checked them by name; one was a regional division of
the brand. Your rate depends on your list. Expect it to be lower on lists of
very small local businesses.

The usual reason for a miss is that the company has no company page in our
database, or its page lists a different domain than the site you submitted (a
parent brand's domain, an older domain, or a link shortener).

#### Am I charged when nothing is found?

No. `not_found`, `ambiguous`, `invalid` and `error` rows cost nothing.

#### Can I run domain to company in bulk from a CSV?

Paste the column of domains into the input, up to 1,000 per run, or send the
list through the API. For bigger lists, split them across runs.

#### Does it need cookies, a login or a LinkedIn account?

No. The Actor reads our own database and does not sign in anywhere.

#### How fresh is the data?

This is a database lookup, so a row is as recent as the record behind it.
Funding data covers rounds up to late 2025. Only the most recent round on
record is returned, and its date can read up to a month later than the public
announcement. Headcount is the number of people who list the company as their
employer, which can differ from the company's own figure.

#### Why did a subdomain come back as not found?

Only a company's main domain is normally listed as its website. We fold the
common functional subdomains (`www`, `blog`, `shop`, `careers`) into the main
domain, and leave the others alone: folding every subdomain would turn a
customer site hosted on a platform into the platform itself. Submit the parent
domain if it belongs to the same company.

#### Is it legal to look up a company by its domain?

The output is information about organizations, not about individuals. You are
responsible for how you use it and for following the laws that apply to you.

### Use Domain to Company with AI agents and MCP

This Actor works as a tool for AI agents. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other MCP client through the Apify MCP server:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=b2bsearch/domain-to-company
```

- **Fast enough for a tool call.** A small request finishes in seconds, so the agent gets its answer inside one call.
- **The agent pays only for results.** Prices are per result (see the pricing section above) and every miss is a free row. Cap what one call may spend with `maxTotalChargeUsd`.
- **Rows explain themselves.** Each row has a `_status`; a row that is not a result says why in `_error`, so the agent can decide what to do next without guessing.

Input an agent can send as is:

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "stripe.com",
    "linear.app"
  ]
}
```

The same Actor is available as a tool in LangChain, CrewAI and the OpenAI Agents SDK, and as a step in n8n, Make and Zapier through the Apify integrations.

### Large volumes

Paid Apify plans lower the per-result price on their own. Pulling more than
100,000 rows a month, or missing a field or filter you need? Open an issue
titled **Volume** with the monthly count and the fields you want (no names or
emails needed) and we answer in the thread.

### Free Apify plan

A run started from a free Apify plan delivers the first 100 results and stops;
the run's status line says so. Any paid Apify plan lifts the cap. The rows are
the same rows a paid run returns.

### Feedback and reviews

How did it go? A rating in the **Reviews** tab of this Actor tells the next
buyer what to expect; we read every word, good or bad. Got a wrong or stale
row? Open the **Issues** tab with the run ID. Issues are public, so leave out
emails, phones and names; the run ID is enough for us to find the row. We
check every report, fix what is ours to fix and answer in the thread.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

One company website per line: a bare domain (acme.com) or any link on the site (https://www.acme.com/about) — scheme, www, path and capitals are ignored, repeats are looked up once. Each domain resolves to one company for $0.0055; domains we cannot resolve, shared hosting addresses and unusable lines come back as free rows with the reason.
