## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Pinterest Scraper: pins, boards and search results, no login

Scrape **public Pinterest pins** by search query, board, profile or pin URL, with original image, outbound link, saves and board info. No login, no cookies.

### What does Pinterest Scraper do?

- Search by keyword, or paste board, profile or single-pin URLs.
- Original-size image URL, title, description, outbound `link` and `domain`.
- Saves, repin and comment counts (single-pin URLs), creation date.
- Pinner username, board name and URL, dominant colour.
- Video flag and video URL.

### Why use it

- **Four entry points**: search, board, profile, pin.
- **No Pinterest account** or cookies.
- **Low price**: $2.50 per 1,000 pins plus proxy usage.
- **Residential proxy by default** because Pinterest rate-limits aggressively.

### Use cases

- Trend and keyword research for content, ecommerce and design.
- Collecting inspiration images with original URLs and outbound links.
- Seeing which domains and creators get saved most for a topic.
- Moodboard and dataset building.
- Competitor board monitoring.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor on Apify and click **Try for free** (or call it through the API).
2. Add **search queries** and/or **pin, board or profile URLs**.
3. Click **Start**, then download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read it through the API.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["minimalist kitchen"],
  "startUrls": ["https://www.pinterest.com/pinterest/pinterest-tips/", "https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1070308667715288822/"],
  "maxPins": 50,
  "proxyConfiguration": {"useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"]}
}
```

`maxPins` applies to each query / URL. A profile URL returns the user's created pins.

### Output example

```json
{
  "pinId": "1070308667715288822",
  "url": "https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1070308667715288822/",
  "title": "nice cats",
  "description": "cute cats",
  "imageUrl": "https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e5/68/36/e56836fd62e5d592ebac20863c484ab9.jpg",
  "link": null,
  "domain": null,
  "saves": 1,
  "repinCount": 0,
  "commentCount": 0,
  "reactionCount": null,
  "createdAt": "2026-10-21T14:54:30+00:00",
  "pinnerUsername": "12Lovelycats9",
  "boardName": "Lovely cats",
  "boardUrl": "https://www.pinterest.com/12Lovelycats9/lovely-cats/",
  "isVideo": false,
  "videoUrl": null,
  "dominantColor": "#857b6b",
  "source": "https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1070308667715288822/"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription. You pay only for what is returned:

| Event | Price per 1,000 | 1,000 | 10,000 | 100,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pin | $2.50 | $2.50 | $25.00 | $250.00 |

Example: 1,000 pins cost $2.50; 10,000 cost $25.00.

Residential proxy traffic is **not** included: it is billed to you as Apify platform usage on top of the per-pin price.

### Integrations & API

Run it from code with the Apify API. Replace `<APIFY_TOKEN>` with your API token.

**Python** (`pip install apify-client`)

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("bachiembmt/pinterest-pins-boards-scraper").call(run_input={"searchQueries": ["minimalist kitchen"], "maxPins": 50})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```

**cURL** (run synchronously and get dataset items)

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/bachiembmt~pinterest-pins-boards-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<APIFY_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"searchQueries": ["minimalist kitchen"], "maxPins": 50}'
```

Works with:

- **Make** and **Zapier**: use the Apify app/module to run this Actor and pass the dataset on.
- **n8n**: use the Apify node or an HTTP Request node with the API call above.
- **Google Sheets**: export the dataset as CSV, or use the Apify integration to append rows automatically.
- **Webhooks**: trigger your own endpoint when a run finishes; combine with Apify schedules for recurring jobs.
- **AI agents**: expose the Actor as a tool through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com).

### FAQ

**Why are `commentCount`/`repinCount` null?**
Search and board feeds do not include them; only single-pin URLs do. `saves` is filled when Pinterest exposes it.

**Why do some search pin URLs not open?**
Anonymous search results use obfuscated pin ids (`e1_...`); the pin URL for those may not open in a browser.

**Can I scrape private boards?**
No. Public data only.

**Do I need an account or API key for the source?**
No. The Actor needs no login or source API key. You only need an Apify account to run it.

**Is it legal to scrape this data?**
Public pins only. Respect Pinterest's terms and the image owners' copyright; do not republish images without rights. This is general information, not legal advice.

### Limitations

- Public data only. Private boards and secret pins are not available.
- Search and board feeds do not include `commentCount` / `repinCount` (only the single-pin URL does); `saves` is filled when Pinterest exposes it.
- Search results (anonymous) use obfuscated pin ids (`e1_...`); the pin URL for those may not open in a browser.
- Pinterest rate-limits aggressively: residential proxy is the default. Blocked requests are logged as warnings.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search for pins, e.g. 'minimalist kitchen'.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

pinterest.com/pin/<id>/, pinterest.com/<user>/<board>/ or pinterest.com/<user>/ (a profile returns the user's created pins).

## `maxPins` (type: `integer`):

Maximum pins collected for each search query, board or profile.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Residential Apify Proxy recommended; Pinterest rate-limits datacenter and busy IPs.
