## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Scraper: products, prices, stock and change tracking

Scrape the **full public catalogue of any Shopify store** and, with change tracking, get only price, sale, stock and catalogue changes since the last run. No login, no API key.

### What does Shopify Store Scraper do?

- Every product with all variants: SKU, price, compare-at price, stock status per variant.
- Images, tags, vendor, product type and clean description text.
- Whole store, specific collections, or a single product URL.
- Change tracking: `price`, `compareAtPrice`, `available`, variant added/removed, `new` and `removed` products.
- Export to JSON, CSV or Google Sheets.

### Why use it

- **Diffs, not dumps**: scheduled runs return only what changed, so you pay only for changed products.
- **Many stores per run.**
- **Low price**: $2 per 1,000 products plus proxy usage.
- **No login or API key.**

### Use cases

- Competitor price and stock monitoring (schedule daily).
- Dropshipping and product research.
- Sale and restock alerts, MAP-price compliance checks.
- Marketplace and comparison feed building.
- Catalogue exports to CSV or Google Sheets.

### How to use

1. Open the Actor on Apify and click **Try for free** (or call it through the API).
2. Add **store URLs** (or collection handles) and switch on **Track changes** for monitoring.
3. Click **Start**, then download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read it through the API.

#### Input example

```json
{
  "storeUrls": ["https://allbirds.com", "https://kyliecosmetics.com"],
  "collections": [],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 20,
  "trackChanges": true,
  "currency": "USD"
}
```

- `storeUrls`: store domains/URLs. A product URL (`/products/<handle>`) fetches only that product.
- `collections`: optional collection handles; empty = whole store.
- `trackChanges`: stores a snapshot per store in the named key-value store `shopify-store-snapshots`. The first run outputs everything as `new`; later runs output only changed products. Removed products are detected only on a **full** scan (not cut by `maxProductsPerStore`).
- `currency`: free text label copied into each item (Shopify's public feed does not state the currency).

### Output example

```json
{
  "store": "kyliecosmetics.com",
  "productId": 8740888117490,
  "handle": "dewy-balm-stick",
  "url": "https://kyliecosmetics.com/products/dewy-balm-stick",
  "title": "Dewy Balm Stick",
  "vendor": "kylie-cosmetics",
  "productType": "Face Highlighter",
  "tags": ["finish:dewy", "vegan"],
  "createdAt": "2025-05-08T15:49:13-07:00",
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-21T02:28:01-07:00",
  "publishedAt": "2025-06-02T21:12:18-07:00",
  "priceMin": 28.0,
  "priceMax": 28.0,
  "available": true,
  "variants": [{"id": 47551520047346, "sku": "KC978", "title": "solar glow", "price": 28.0,
                "compareAtPrice": null, "available": true,
                "option1": "solar glow", "option2": null, "option3": null}],
  "images": ["https://cdn.shopify.com/.../image.jpg"],
  "descriptionText": "",
  "currency": "USD",
  "changes": ["price: 32.0 -> 28.0 (variant 47551520047346)", "available: False -> True (variant 47551520047346)"]
}
```

`changes` entries: `new`, `removed`, `price: a -> b`, `compareAtPrice: a -> b`, `available: a -> b`, `variant <id> added/removed`. Removed products only carry store, ids, handle, url, title.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription. You pay only for what is returned:

| Event | Price per 1,000 | 1,000 | 10,000 | 100,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| product | $2.00 | $2.00 | $20.00 | $200.00 |

Example: 1,000 products cost $2.00; 10,000 cost $20.00.

With change tracking you pay only for products actually returned (changed, new or removed). Residential proxy traffic is **not** included: it is billed to you as platform usage, about 0.1 MB per 20 products by default.

### Integrations & API

Run it from code with the Apify API. Replace `<APIFY_TOKEN>` with your API token.

**Python** (`pip install apify-client`)

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("bachiembmt/shopify-store-products-monitor").call(run_input={"storeUrls": ["https://allbirds.com"], "maxProductsPerStore": 20, "trackChanges": True, "currency": "USD"})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```

**cURL** (run synchronously and get dataset items)

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/bachiembmt~shopify-store-products-monitor/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<APIFY_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"storeUrls": ["https://allbirds.com"], "maxProductsPerStore": 20, "trackChanges": true, "currency": "USD"}'
```

Works with:

- **Make** and **Zapier**: use the Apify app/module to run this Actor and pass the dataset on.
- **n8n**: use the Apify node or an HTTP Request node with the API call above.
- **Google Sheets**: export the dataset as CSV, or use the Apify integration to append rows automatically.
- **Webhooks**: trigger your own endpoint when a run finishes; combine with Apify schedules for recurring jobs.
- **AI agents**: expose the Actor as a tool through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com).

### FAQ

**Which stores work?**
Stores that expose Shopify's public `/products.json` feed. Stores that block or disable it (Cloudflare 403, headless stores) are skipped with a warning; there is no bot-protection bypass.

**Do I get inventory quantities?**
No, only a per-variant in-stock yes/no; Shopify's public feed does not expose quantities.

**How do I reset tracking?**
Delete the store's key in the `shopify-store-snapshots` key-value store.

**Do I need an account or API key for the source?**
No. The Actor needs no login or source API key. You only need an Apify account to run it.

**Is it legal to scrape this data?**
Only the store's public product feed is read. Respect each store's terms and local competition law when using price data. This is general information, not legal advice.

### Limitations

- Uses Shopify's public `/products.json` feed (fallback `/collections/all/products.json`; single products via `/products/<handle>.js`). Stores that disable or block it (e.g. Cloudflare 403, headless stores such as gymshark.com) are reported with a clear warning and skipped. No bot-protection bypass.
- Default proxy is RESIDENTIAL (datacenter IPs get HTTP 429 from many stores). You can switch to datacenter or your own proxies in `proxyConfiguration`.
- Non-Shopify sites are detected and reported.
- Stock is a per-variant yes/no; Shopify's public feed does not expose quantities.
- Prices are as the store's default market shows them. `.js` single-product mode has no `createdAt`/`updatedAt`.
- Throttled to one request per 1.5 s, with backoff on HTTP 429; 250 products per request.

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify store domains or URLs (https://allbirds.com). A product URL (/products/<handle>) fetches just that product.

## `collections` (type: `array`):

Only scrape these collections (handle from /collections/<handle>). Empty = whole catalogue.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit per store (all collections together).

## `trackChanges` (type: `boolean`):

Keep the last snapshot per store in the named key-value store 'shopify-store-snapshots' and output only new/changed/removed products with a `changes` list. The first run outputs everything as 'new'. Only a full scan (not cut by the max limit) can detect removed products.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Apify Proxy helps avoid rate limits (HTTP 429) from datacenter IPs. Residential proxy works best for strict stores.

## `currency` (type: `string`):

Free label copied to every item (e.g. USD). Shopify's public feed does not state the currency.
