## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Indeed Jobs Scraper

Turn an Indeed job search into clean, structured rows. Give the words you would type into Indeed's **What** box, an optional **Where**, and the Indeed country site, and get one row per job with its **title, company, location, salary as shown, posting age and date, the card's job summary, the job link and Indeed's job key**. No Indeed account or login is needed. Indeed sites in 21 countries are supported.

**Important: one results page per search.** This actor delivers the jobs on the **first page of Indeed's results**: about **15 jobs** on most country sites and up to about **50** on indeed.com (United States). Indeed shows later result pages only to signed-in visitors, so they are not collected. The run summary reports how many jobs Indeed says match in total, so you can see how much of the search the first page covers. For more jobs, run narrower searches (one per city, title or company) and combine them.

### What it covers

- **Searches** on indeed.com and 20 country sites: United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, India, Singapore, South Africa, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, Mexico, Brazil and Japan.
- **Every job on the first results page**, sponsored jobs included (each row says whether it is sponsored, and you can leave them out).
- **Not covered**: results beyond the first page, the full job description, apply links, and Indeed's filters (date posted, job type, salary and so on). A search with no matching jobs delivers nothing and is not charged per row; the suggestions Indeed shows instead are left out.

### Use cases

- **Job market snapshots**: what the first page of Indeed shows for a title in a city, today and on a schedule.
- **Salary checks**: the pay ranges employers post for a role, with currency and period.
- **Hiring signals and lead lists**: which companies are advertising which roles where, with their Indeed rating.
- **Recruiting and job alerts**: new jobs for a set of narrow searches, deduplicated by job key across runs.
- **Research datasets**: job titles, locations and summaries across countries.

### Quick Start

```json
{
  "query": "data analyst",
  "location": "New York, NY",
  "country": "US"
}
```

This gives the jobs on the first page of indeed.com for "data analyst" in New York, NY.

### Input

| Input | Type | Default | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | string | — | Required. Job title, keywords or a company name, as you would type them into Indeed's "What" box. |
| `location` | string | empty | City, region, postcode or `remote`, as you would type them into Indeed's "Where" box. Empty searches the whole country. |
| `country` | string | `US` | The Indeed site to search, by country code: `US`, `GB` (or `UK`), `CA`, `AU`, `IE`, `NZ`, `IN`, `SG`, `ZA`, `DE`, `AT`, `CH`, `FR`, `BE`, `NL`, `ES`, `IT`, `PL`, `MX`, `BR`, `JP`. |
| `includeSponsored` | boolean | `true` | Keep the sponsored jobs Indeed mixes into its results. |
| `maxItems` | integer | `100` | Cap on jobs delivered, 1 to 100. The first page rarely has more than 50. |

### Example queries

- `{"query": "nurse", "location": "Chicago, IL"}`: nursing jobs on the first page of indeed.com in Chicago.
- `{"query": "software engineer", "location": "London", "country": "GB"}`: uk.indeed.com, about 15 jobs.
- `{"query": "comptable", "location": "Paris", "country": "FR"}`: fr.indeed.com; posting ages and job types come in French.
- `{"query": "Amazon", "country": "CA", "includeSponsored": false}`: Amazon jobs in Canada without sponsored listings.
- `{"query": "warehouse", "location": "remote", "maxItems": 10}`

### What it returns

One row per job:

| Field | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `jobKey` | Indeed's job key (the `jk=` value in job links). Stable across runs, so use it to deduplicate. |
| `title`, `company` | Job title and employer, as shown. |
| `location`, `city`, `region`, `postalCode` | The location as shown, and its parts when Indeed gives them (`region` is a state, province or region code such as `IL` or `ENG`). |
| `salaryText` | The salary as shown, for example `$38.20 - $52.06 an hour`; `null` when the card shows none. |
| `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryPeriod`, `salaryCurrency` | The same salary as numbers, with `hour`, `day`, `week`, `month` or `year`, and the currency code. |
| `posted`, `postedDate` | The posting age as shown (`Just posted`, `3 days ago`, `30+ days ago`) and the posting day (`YYYY-MM-DD`). |
| `snippet` | The short job summary on the card, as plain text. |
| `jobUrl` | The job's page on the Indeed site that was searched. |
| `jobTypes` | Full-time, Part-time, Contract and so on, in the site's language. |
| `remote`, `urgentlyHiring`, `sponsored` | Flags from the card. |
| `companyRating`, `companyReviewCount`, `companyUrl` | The employer's Indeed rating, review count and company page, when shown. |
| `position` | Rank on the results page (1 = first delivered). |
| `searchQuery`, `searchLocation`, `country` | The search that produced the row. |
| `scrapedAt` | Collection time (UTC). |

The run summary (`OUTPUT`) reports `items`, `jobsOnPage`, `totalJobCount` (how many jobs Indeed says match the search across all its pages), `sponsoredSkipped`, `noResults`, and an `error` with a short code and message if the search could not be read.

```
### How fast
One search takes about 5 to 20 seconds. Each run is one search; to cover several searches, start several runs (they can run at the same time) or schedule them.
### Price
**$0.0005 per job delivered** ($0.50 per 1,000 jobs), plus **$0.005 per run start**. The run-start event is charged per GB of memory; the default 512 MB run is one start event. The start is charged even if the run saves no results, for example when no job matches the search. A search that could not be read is not charged per job. When your maximum charge for the run is reached, the run stops and keeps the jobs already saved. Platform usage is included in the prices.
### Good to know
- Results are what Indeed shows on its first page at collection time; Indeed's ranking, and which sponsored jobs it mixes in, change from one run to the next.
- `totalJobCount` is Indeed's own estimate of all matching jobs; only the first page of them is delivered.
- Posting ages, job types and salary wording come in the language of the site searched.
- `salaryText` is only what the employer or Indeed shows on the card; many jobs have none.
- If Indeed temporarily refuses the request, the run retries a few times with short pauses. If the page still cannot be read, the run fails with a clear message and no jobs are charged.
