## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Rightmove Scraper: UK Property Listings API

Turn any Rightmove search into a clean dataset. Paste a search results
URL from `rightmove.co.uk`, with every filter you set in the browser, or
pick one of ten major UK cities and choose sale or rent. Each listing
comes back as one record with the price in GBP, address, property type,
bedrooms, bathrooms, photos, the agent and the date the listing first
appeared.

Use it as a Rightmove API for UK property data: schedule it, call it
from your code, or download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel. Rightmove
is the UK's largest property portal, so one search covers most of the
homes on the market in an area.

### What you can do with it

- **Track asking prices in a market.** Re-run the same searches every
  day or week and follow asking prices, stock and new instructions by
  area, property type and bedroom count. Prices are integers in GBP, so
  medians and price bands need no cleanup.
- **Spot new listings first.** Sort a search by newest on Rightmove,
  paste it, and schedule the run. The stable `listing_key` and the
  `first_seen` date show which listings are new since your last run.
- **Build lead lists for agents, mortgage brokers and removal firms.**
  Every record names the selling or letting agent branch, so you can
  see which agents hold stock in a postcode district and how much.
- **Feed a valuation, rental-yield or investment model.** Run a sale
  search and a rental search for the same area and compare asking
  prices with monthly rents by bedroom count.
- **Research a relocation or a portfolio.** Pull every two-bed flat
  under a price cap in several towns into one spreadsheet, with links
  back to each listing and its photos.

### Quick start

1. Open [Rightmove](https://www.rightmove.co.uk/), search for a town,
   postcode or area and set the filters you want (price, bedrooms,
   property type, radius, added to site, sort order).
2. Copy the address of the results page and paste it into **Rightmove
   search URLs**.
3. Set **Maximum results** and run.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {"url": "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find.html?searchLocation=London&useLocationIdentifier=true&locationIdentifier=REGION%5E87490&radius=0.0&minBedrooms=2&maxPrice=600000&_includeSSTC=on&sortType=6&channel=BUY&transactionType=BUY"}
  ],
  "maxPages": 2,
  "maxResults": 30
}
```

Prefer not to paste URLs? The city input still works exactly as before:

```json
{"city": "london", "operation": "sale", "maxPages": 1, "maxResults": 50}
```

### Input

| Name | Type | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `startUrls` | array | empty | Optional. One or more Rightmove sale or rental search results URLs with any filters. When set, these searches run instead of `city`, `operation` and `locationIdentifier`. |
| `operation` | string | `sale` | Sale (`sale`) or rental (`rent`) listings. |
| `city` | string | `london` | `london`, `manchester`, `birmingham`, `liverpool`, `leeds`, `sheffield`, `bristol`, `newcastle`, `glasgow` or `edinburgh`. |
| `locationIdentifier` | string | empty | Optional Rightmove location code such as `REGION^475`; overrides `city`. |
| `maxPages` | integer | `1` | Result pages per search, 1 to 10 (24 listings per page). |
| `maxResults` | integer | `50` | Maximum listings for the whole run, 1 to 500. |
| `requestDelaySecs` | number | `1.0` | Pause between pages, 0.5 to 10 seconds. |

With `startUrls`, `maxPages` applies to each URL, `maxResults` is the
total for the run, and a listing that appears in two of your searches is
returned once. You can paste up to 20 URLs per run.

### Input recipes

**Any town, postcode or filter (pasted URL).** Search on Rightmove,
then paste the results page. Two-bed-plus homes under £600,000 in
London, sorted by newest:

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {"url": "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E87490&minBedrooms=2&maxPrice=600000&sortType=6"}
  ],
  "maxPages": 3,
  "maxResults": 72
}
```

**Several rental searches in one run.** Flats to rent under £2,000 a
month in Bristol and Edinburgh:

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {"url": "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E219&maxPrice=2000&propertyTypes=flat"},
    {"url": "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E475&maxPrice=2000&propertyTypes=flat"}
  ],
  "maxPages": 2,
  "maxResults": 96
}
```

**A city, no URL needed.** Rentals in Manchester:

```json
{"city": "manchester", "operation": "rent", "maxPages": 2, "maxResults": 48}
```

**A Rightmove location code.** If you already know the code of an area,
pass it directly:

```json
{"locationIdentifier": "REGION^475", "operation": "sale", "maxResults": 24}
```

### Output

One record per listing:

| Field | What it holds |
| --- | --- |
| `listing_key` | Stable key (`rightmove.co.uk:<id>`); use it to deduplicate across runs. |
| `url` | Listing page on rightmove.co.uk. |
| `price_gbp` | Asking price in whole pounds: the sale price, or the monthly rent as listed. |
| `address` | Display address, usually street, town and postcode district. |
| `property_type` | Flat, Apartment, Terraced, Semi-Detached, Detached and so on. |
| `bedrooms`, `bathrooms` | Counts when the listing shows them, otherwise null. |
| `images` | Photo URLs for the listing. |
| `agent_name` | Selling or letting agent branch. |
| `first_seen` | Date the listing first appeared on Rightmove (`YYYY-MM-DD`), when shown. |
| `city` | The city you searched; for a pasted URL, the searched place name. |
| `location_identifier` | Rightmove location code of the search. |
| `operation` | `sale` or `rent`. |
| `source` | `rightmove.co.uk`. |
| `scraped_at` | When the run collected the listing (UTC). |

### Output example

A record from the pasted London search above (run on 2026-10-20; photo
list trimmed to two of its entries):

```json
{
  "listing_key": "rightmove.co.uk:175008980",
  "url": "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/175008980",
  "price_gbp": 450000,
  "address": "St. Quintin Avenue, London, United Kingdom, W10",
  "property_type": "Apartment",
  "bedrooms": 3,
  "bathrooms": 1,
  "images": [
    "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-photo/ad24afe78/175008980/ad24afe78b87621319d07b3fe81d4673.jpeg",
    "https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-photo/ce3070dab/175008980/ce3070dab4b21a9ea0a038bee4e5ffa5.jpeg"
  ],
  "agent_name": "North Kensington",
  "first_seen": "2026-07-22",
  "city": "london",
  "location_identifier": "REGION^87490",
  "operation": "sale",
  "source": "rightmove.co.uk",
  "scraped_at": "2026-10-20T04:00:40.755600+00:00"
}
```

In that run all 30 listings had an agent and a first-seen date, and 28
of 30 showed a bathroom count. Listings usually carry 10 to 20 photos.

### FAQ

#### Is there an official Rightmove API?

Rightmove's own data feeds are for estate agents who list with them.
This Actor works as a Rightmove API for everyone else: it returns the
public listings you can see on the website as structured data you can
call from code, schedule or export.

#### Which searches can I paste?

Any Rightmove search results page for property for sale
(`/property-for-sale/find.html`) or to rent (`/property-to-rent/find.html`).
Run the search on Rightmove first so the address contains the location,
then copy it. Single listing pages, commercial property and the
"Property for sale in London" overview pages are not search results and
are rejected with a message.

#### Are my filters kept?

Yes. Price range, bedrooms, property types, radius, "added to site",
"include under offer / sold STC", must-haves and sort order all stay as
you set them, on every page the run reads.

#### How fresh is the data?

Every run reads Rightmove at the time you run it. Nothing is cached
between runs.

#### How many listings can I get?

Rightmove shows 24 listings per page. A run reads up to 10 pages per
search and returns up to 500 listings in total. For a bigger area, split
it into several pasted searches (by price band or postcode district).

#### Does it work for rentals?

Yes. Paste a "to rent" search, or set `operation` to `rent`. For
rentals, `price_gbp` is the monthly rent as listed.

#### Why is a field null?

Some listings do not show a bathroom count, a first-seen date or an
agent. The record keeps the field and sets it to null instead of
guessing.

#### What happens when a page is unavailable?

The run retries temporary failures. If Rightmove keeps refusing, the
run fails with a clear message instead of returning a partial or
misleading dataset.

#### My saved input from an earlier version still works?

Yes. `city`, `operation`, `locationIdentifier`, `maxPages`, `maxResults`
and `requestDelaySecs` behave exactly as before. Pasted URLs are an
optional addition.

#### Is this legal?

The Actor collects publicly visible listing information. You are
responsible for how you use it, including data protection rules for any
personal data such as agent names. If in doubt, ask a lawyer.

For help, contact Apify Support and include the run URL.

### Pricing

You pay per listing returned plus a small start event for each run.
The start event is charged per GB of memory, so the
default 512 MB run is one start event. See the Actor's Pricing tab on
Apify for current rates. Total run cost depends on the selected limits and your
Apify plan. Start with a small `maxResults` value and check the run cost
before scheduling larger collections.
