## Pricing

from $4.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 🎙️ Spotify Podcast Scraper — show & episode data from 5M+ podcasts

Extract **podcast show and episode data from Spotify** — names, publishers, descriptions,
episode lists, durations, release dates and cover art — as clean, structured data via the
**official Spotify Web API**. Search Spotify's catalog of 5M+ podcasts by keyword, or look
up specific shows by ID or URL, and pull complete episode histories for each. Export to
JSON/CSV/Excel, run on a schedule, call via API, or connect to Make, Zapier or n8n.

**Access requirements, checked September 10, 2026:** bring credentials for an eligible
Spotify app. [Development Mode requires Premium](https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/tutorials/february-2026-migration-guide)
and supports [personal, non-commercial projects](https://developer.spotify.com/blog/2026-02-06-update-on-developer-access-and-platform-security).
Google sign-in alone does not provide API credentials. Check your app's permitted use
and endpoint access before running this Actor. A successful real-data cloud example
is not available for the current release.

### 🎙️ What is the Spotify Podcast Scraper?

It turns Spotify's podcast catalog into a structured dataset. Give it a search term (e.g.
`technology`, `true crime`, `comedy`) or a list of show IDs/URLs, and it returns full show
metadata plus, optionally, every episode with descriptions, durations, release dates and
audio-preview URLs when available. It uses Spotify's official Web API with your own
app credentials. Availability depends on the app's access, market and Spotify's
current endpoint rules; an API failure fails the collection rather than proving an
empty search.

#### What data does it extract?

**For each show:** `id`, `name`, `publisher`, `description` (plus `html_description`),
`total_episodes`, `explicit` flag, `media_type`, `languages`, `spotify_url`, cover
`images`, `copyrights`, `is_externally_hosted`, `episodes_fetched` count and a
`scraped_at` timestamp.

**For each episode (when included):** `id`, `name`, `description`, `duration_ms` and a
human-readable `duration_formatted` (HH:MM:SS), `release_date` with
`release_date_precision`, `explicit` flag, `language`/`languages`, `spotify_url`,
`audio_preview_url` (30-second clip when available) and cover `images`.

### ⬇️ Input

A Spotify Client ID and Secret from an eligible app are required (see the FAQ):

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `spotifyClientId` | Your Spotify API Client ID (required) |
| `spotifyClientSecret` | Your Spotify API Client Secret (required) |
| `mode` | `search` (find shows by keyword) or `show_ids` (look up by ID/URL) |
| `searchQuery` | Search term, e.g. `technology` (required in `search` mode) |
| `showIds` | List of show IDs or `open.spotify.com/show/...` URLs (used in `show_ids` mode) |
| `market` | Country code for the Spotify catalog, e.g. `US`, `GB`, `DE` (default `US`) |
| `maxResults` | Max shows to return in search mode (1–50, default 20) |
| `includeEpisodes` | Fetch full episode data for each show (default `true`) |
| `maxEpisodesPerShow` | Cap episodes per show (leave empty for all) |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "spotifyClientId": "your_client_id",
  "spotifyClientSecret": "your_client_secret",
  "mode": "search",
  "searchQuery": "technology news",
  "market": "US",
  "maxResults": 10,
  "includeEpisodes": true,
  "maxEpisodesPerShow": 20
}
```

### ⬆️ Output

Every show is one record (view as a **table**, or export **JSON / CSV / Excel**).
This is an illustrative field layout, not a verified cloud-run sample. Spotify may
omit fields for your app; for example, affected Development Mode apps no longer
receive `publisher`, which this Actor leaves empty.

```json
{
  "name": "The Joe Rogan Experience",
  "publisher": "Joe Rogan",
  "description": "The official podcast of comedian Joe Rogan...",
### 💡 Use cases
- **🔎 Podcast research:** discover every show in a niche or topic, with publisher, episode count and languages in one place.
- **📈 Competitive analysis:** track rival shows' episode cadence, release dates and durations to benchmark your own publishing.
- **🧠 Market intelligence:** monitor podcast trends, new releases and category leaders across different country markets.
- **📋 Content & ad planning:** research episode topics, formats and lengths, or build a list of shows for ad placement.
### ❓ FAQ
**How do I scrape podcasts from Spotify?** Add your eligible Spotify app credentials, pick
`search` mode with a keyword (or `show_ids` mode with show IDs/URLs), then Run. You get
full show metadata and, optionally, complete episode lists.
**Do I need an API key?** Yes, a Spotify Client ID and Secret from the
[Developer Dashboard](https://developer.spotify.com/dashboard). Development Mode
requires the app owner to have Premium and is for personal, non-commercial use.
An ordinary Spotify login does not establish API eligibility. Confirm the app's
approved access and permitted use; this Actor authenticates with Client Credentials.
**Why does it use the official Spotify API?** It reads the catalog through Spotify's
documented interface. Endpoint access and returned fields can change. An access error
fails the run; a show that fails midway through its episode collection is not exported
as complete. Earlier completed shows can remain in a failed run's partial dataset.
**Can I look up specific shows instead of searching?** Yes — set `mode` to `show_ids` and
pass either show IDs (e.g. `4rOoJ6Egrf8K2IrywzwOMk`) or full `open.spotify.com/show/...`
URLs; the actor extracts the ID for you.
**Can I limit how many episodes are pulled?** Yes — set `maxEpisodesPerShow` to cap
episodes per show, or set `includeEpisodes` to `false` to fetch show metadata only.
**Which countries/markets are supported?** Any Spotify market code, including US, GB, CA,
AU, DE, FR, ES, IT, NL, SE, JP, KR, BR, MX and more — set the `market` field.
**How many shows can it return in search mode?** `maxResults` bounds the search window
to 50 entries. The Actor requests pages of at most ten, as required by Spotify's
current search endpoint. Unavailable or duplicate entries can reduce the returned
count. A genuine empty API result succeeds with zero rows.
**Does it include audio?** It returns the 30-second `audio_preview_url` Spotify provides
when available, not full episode audio.
**Can I run it on a schedule or via API?** Yes — schedule recurring runs in Apify, call it
via the API/SDK, or connect it to Make, Zapier or n8n.
**What uses are permitted?** Your app and data use must comply with Spotify's Developer
Terms and its approved access. Development Mode is not a commercial scaling option;
using this Actor does not grant additional Spotify rights or permissions.
