## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Products Scraper — Catalog, Prices & Variants

**Get clean Shopify product rows** (title, handle, vendor, type, min/max price, variants, images, tags, URL) from one or many public storefronts via `/products.json`.

### Price (Pay-per-event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---:|
| **product** (primary) | **$0.90 / 1k** (`$0.0009` each) |
| actor-start | `$0.01` per run |
| store-processed | `$0.005` per store attempted |

Example: 1 store × 2,000 products ≈ `$0.01 + 2000×$0.0009 + $0.005` ≈ **$1.82**.\
Default **proxy OFF** — most mid-size Shopify stores need none.

Store: [apify.com/betelgues/shopify-store-products-scraper](https://apify.com/betelgues/shopify-store-products-scraper)

### Try it (curl / API)

```bash
curl "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/betelgues~shopify-store-products-scraper/runs?token=YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "startUrls": [{"url": "https://colourpop.com"}],
    "maxProducts": 100,
    "maxPagesPerStore": 1,
    "proxyConfiguration": {"useApifyProxy": false}
  }'
```

Or click a ready task on the Store page: **ColourPop sample**, **Multi-store demo**, **LatAm/ES**.

### Why this vs autofacts / clearpath

| | This Actor | Typical catalog scrapers |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-store queue | Soft-fail blocked/non-Shopify stores; continue | Often hard-stop |
| LatAm / ES | Verified examples (`doto.com.mx`, `misako.com`, `scalperscompany.com`) | Mostly EN/US demos |
| Proxy | Not required for most stores | Often forces proxy |
| Meter | Clear **$/1k products** PPE | Fuzzy or rental-heavy |
| Focus | Catalog volume (prices + variants) | Leads DB ≠ this SKU |

We do **not** compete with clearpath’s leads DB — we own **catalog volume PPE**.

### Features

- Paste 1–N store URLs → thousands of products per run
- Pagination: `/products.json?limit=250&page=N`
- Retries on 429 / 5xx / timeouts
- Soft-fail per store on 401/403/404/HTML — queue continues
- Optional `store-status` rows for observability

### Input (short)

| Field | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `startUrls` / `storeUrls` | — | Storefront origins |
| `maxProducts` | `5000` | Cap per store |
| `maxPagesPerStore` | `40` | 40 × 250 ≈ 10k/store |
| `maxStores` | `50` | Cap stores processed |
| `proxyConfiguration` | `{ useApifyProxy: false }` | Keep OFF unless many 403s |

### Output (product row)

`title`, `handle`, `vendor`, `productType`, `price`, `priceMax`, `variantsCount`, `images` (≤10), `image`, `url`, `productId`, `storeUrl`, `tags`, `scrapedAt`\
Plus optional `type: "store-status"` rows.

### Example stores

| Store | Region | Approx products |
|---|---|---:|
| https://colourpop.com | US | ~1,000+ |
| https://www.tentree.com | US/CA | large |
| https://www.doto.com.mx | MX | ~6,800+ |
| https://www.misako.com | ES | ~1,900+ |
| https://www.scalperscompany.com | ES | ~6,400+ |

### Limitations

- Needs public `/products.json` (most Shopify; not Tiendanube/VTEX/custom).
- Some stores 403 without cookies/residential — those soft-fail (no forced residential on happy path).
- Inventory depth beyond `/products.json` is out of scope for v1.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

One or more Shopify storefront origins or domains (e.g. https://colourpop.com or colourpop.com). Also accepts Apify request-list objects with a url field. Alias fields storeUrls / storeDomains are accepted in code.

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional alternate input: plain string list of store URLs/domains. Merged with startUrls.

## `maxProducts` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many unique products per store. Each /products.json page returns up to 250 items.

## `maxPagesPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Max /products.json pages to fetch per store (limit=250 each). 40 pages ≈ 10,000 products.

## `maxStores` (type: `integer`):

Process at most this many stores from the input list.

## `includeTags` (type: `boolean`):

Include Shopify product tags in each row.

## `includeStoreStatus` (type: `boolean`):

Push a store-status summary row per store (ok / soft_fail + reason). Useful for multi-store queues.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

OPTIONAL. Default OFF — most Shopify stores expose /products.json without a proxy. Only enable Apify Proxy if you hit many 403s. Do not enable residential unless necessary.
