## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Welcome to the Jungle Jobs Scraper (WTTJ)

Scrape job listings from [Welcome to the Jungle](https://www.welcometothejungle.com) into an Apify dataset.

Uses the same public Algolia search index the website uses — **no browser**, no proxy by default.

### Input

| Field | Required | Default | Notes |
|-------|----------|---------|-------|
| `query` | no | `software engineer` | Keywords |
| `location` | no | — | City / area bias (e.g. Paris) |
| `websiteCountry` | no | `fr` | Marketplace: `fr`, `us`, `gb`, `es`, `cs`, `sk` |
| `countryCode` | no | — | ISO filter e.g. `FR` |
| `contractType` | no | — | e.g. `FULL_TIME`, `INTERNSHIP` |
| `remote` | no | — | Remote filters |
| `language` | no | `en` | URL language segment |
| `maxItems` | no | `50` | 1–1000 |
| `includeDetails` | no | `false` | Fetch `applyUrl` via job detail API |

### Output (one dataset row per job)

`title`, `company`, `location`, `contractType`, `publishedAt`, `url`, `applyUrl` (when details on), `source=wttj`, plus salary / remote / profession when present.

### Pricing (PPE)

| Event | Price |
|-------|------:|
| Actor start (`apify-actor-start`) | **$0.01** |
| Job row (`apify-default-dataset-item`) | **$0.0021** (**$2.10 / 1,000 jobs**) |

Example: 1,000 jobs ≈ **$2.11** events (start + rows). Platform usage billed by Apify separately.

Competitor list prices on Store (for positioning only; their paid GMV = **UNKNOWN**): Clearpath from ~$2.99/1k; several race-to-zero listings ~$0.20–$0.45/1k. This Actor sits in the mid band — clean schema + optional ATS `applyUrl`, not cheapest.

### Honest status

No fabricated user counts or GMV. Creator stranger revenue starts at **$0** until a non-owner paid run appears in Console.

### Limits

- Algolia pagination is capped at **1,000 hits** per query slice. Narrow with filters to go deeper.
- Site HTML is behind AWS WAF; this Actor does **not** scrape HTML — only Algolia + optional `api.welcometothejungle.com` detail.

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

Job search keywords (e.g. software engineer, data analyst).

## `location` (type: `string`):

City or area bias (e.g. Paris, Madrid, London).

## `websiteCountry` (type: `string`):

Marketplace tenant: fr, us, gb, es, cs, sk.

## `countryCode` (type: `string`):

ISO country code filter on offices (e.g. FR, ES, US).

## `contractType` (type: `array`):

Filter by contract type codes, e.g. FULL_TIME, INTERNSHIP, FREELANCE, TEMPORARY, APPRENTICESHIP.

## `remote` (type: `array`):

Remote policy filters as used by WTTJ (e.g. fulltime, partial, no).

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language segment for job URLs (en, fr, es).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum job rows to export (1–1000; Algolia caps reachable hits at 1000 per query slice).

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

If true, call WTTJ job detail API for each hit to fill applyUrl / ATS when available. Slower; more HTTP.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Default OFF. Algolia + api.welcometothejungle.com usually work without proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "query": "software engineer",
  "websiteCountry": "fr",
  "language": "en",
  "maxItems": 50,
  "includeDetails": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

Default dataset rows: title, company, location, contractType, publishedAt, url, applyUrl, source=wttj.
