## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website SEO Audit: On-Page SEO Checker

Audit any website for on-page SEO problems in minutes. Enter a URL. The Actor crawls the site, scores every page from 0 to 100, and lists each issue by severity, so you know what to fix first.

### What it checks on every page

- **Title tag:** missing, too short, or too long
- **Meta description:** missing, too short, or too long
- **Headings:** missing `<h1>` or multiple `<h1>`s
- **Indexing:** `noindex` robots meta and canonical tags
- **Images:** missing alt text, with sample image URLs
- **Content:** thin pages (word count)
- **Mobile:** viewport meta tag; `lang` attribute
- **Social:** Open Graph tags
- **Structured data:** the JSON-LD types found on the page
- **Security and speed:** HTTPS, server response time, HTML size
- **Links:** internal and external link counts

**Site-wide:** a `SUMMARY` record in the key-value store lists **duplicate titles** and **duplicate meta descriptions** across pages, plus the average score.

### How to use it

1. Add one or more website URLs.
2. Set **Max pages**.
3. Click **Start**, then download the results as JSON, CSV, or Excel, or open the "Pages" table view.

### Pricing

You pay per page audited. There are no monthly fees, and the **Max pages** setting caps your cost.

### Sample output (one row per page)

```json
{
  "url": "https://example.com/pricing",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "score": 78,
  "issueCount": 3,
  "issues": [
    {"severity": "medium", "message": "Missing meta description"},
    {"severity": "medium", "message": "4 of 9 images missing alt text"},
    {"severity": "low", "message": "Title may be truncated in search results (71 chars)"}
  ],
  "title": "Pricing plans for teams of every size | Example Company Inc.",
  "wordCount": 812,
  "imagesMissingAlt": 4,
  "structuredDataTypes": ["Organization"],
  "responseTimeSec": 0.41
}
```

### Good crawling manners

- The crawler follows each site's `robots.txt`.
- It stays on the same site.
- It limits concurrency.
- It identifies itself with a clear user agent.
- It never logs in or bypasses access controls.

Only audit sites you own or have permission to analyze, and follow each site's terms.

### Use cases

- Pre-launch and post-migration SEO checks
- Agency client audits and monthly reports
- Finding pages with missing alt text for accessibility work
- Spotting duplicate titles and descriptions across large sites
