## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Job Bank Canada Scraper · + Salaries

Extract job postings from [Job Bank](https://www.jobbank.gc.ca), the Government of Canada's official job board (over 70,000 active postings). No login, no browser, no API key: title, employer, location, NOC occupation code, salary range and full description (requirements, tasks and benefits), read straight from the site's own posting pages.

### What you can do with it

- **Search Canada's official job board directly.** Any keyword Job Bank's own search accepts, nationwide.
- **Benchmark Canadian wages.** `salary.minValue`/`maxValue` kept as numbers, with currency and unit (hourly, yearly...), whenever a posting discloses one.
- **Classify by occupation.** `nocCode` is the posting's official National Occupational Classification code.
- **Feed a job alert or aggregator.** A stable `id` and canonical `url` per posting for deduplication across runs.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `keywords` | Job title, skill or employer, for example `software developer`. Empty means every posting nationwide. |
| `maxItems` | The run stops once this many postings are saved (default 50). |

Example input:

```json
{
  "keywords": "software developer",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

### Output

One record per posting:

```json
{
  "id": "50481442",
  "url": "https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/jobsearch/jobposting/50481442",
  "title": "cook",
  "originalTitle": null,
  "employer": "Goat St Restaurant Corp.",
  "employerUrl": null,
  "datePosted": "2026-10-12",
  "validThrough": "2026-10-26",
  "nocCode": "63200",
  "location": { "city": "Radium Hot Springs", "region": "BC", "postalCode": "V0A 1M0" },
  "workSetting": "On site",
  "employmentType": "Term or contract, Full time",
  "salary": { "minValue": 20, "maxValue": null, "unitText": "HOUR", "currency": "CAD" },
  "vacancies": 3,
  "description": "Overview\n\nLanguages\n\nEnglish\n\n..."
}
```

Export the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the Apify API.

### Why this one

- **Structured salary, not buried in free text.** `salary.minValue`/`maxValue`/`unitText`/`currency` are numbers whenever the posting discloses a wage.
- **NOC code on every posting**, useful for occupation-level analysis without an extra lookup.
- **No browser, no proxy, no API key.** Job Bank's posting pages are plain server-rendered HTML.

### Good to know

- `originalTitle` is only set for postings mirrored from a third-party board (for example Talent.com): Job Bank shows its own NOC-normalized title plus the recruiter's original wording. Most postings, filed directly by the employer, have none, so this field is empty on the majority of results.
- Many postings do not disclose a salary; `salary` is `null` when that is the case, nothing is guessed.
- `employerUrl` is only set when the employer linked their own website on the posting.
- The dataset contains job postings only. Any named contact's e-mail or phone number found in a posting's text is dropped from `description`.
- This is an unofficial tool, not affiliated with the Government of Canada or Job Bank. Check the site's terms and the data protection rules that apply to your use.

### FAQ

**Does it need a browser or a proxy?**\
No. The Actor reads Job Bank's own posting pages directly.

**Does it work without `keywords`?**\
Yes. Leave it empty for a productive default run across the newest postings nationwide.

**Can I get the data in Excel or Google Sheets?**\
Yes. Export the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON from the Apify console, or connect the Apify Google Sheets integration.
