## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Jobs.ch Scraper · Swiss Jobs, No Login

Scrape [jobs.ch](https://www.jobs.ch) Swiss job postings: title, company, location, employment type, work hours, salary range and full description. No login, no browser required.

### What you can do with it

- **Monitor new Swiss job postings.** Run it on a schedule and get the newest postings first, filtered by keyword.
- **Benchmark Swiss salaries.** `salaryMin`/`salaryMax` kept as numbers in CHF whenever a posting publishes a range.
- **Feed a Swiss job alert or aggregator.** Structured fields and the canonical `url`, deduplicated by `id`.
- **Read postings in German, French or English.** jobs.ch publishes every posting in all three.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `language` | Which jobs.ch UI language to read the postings in (`de`, `fr` or `en`). The site offers the same postings in all three. |
| `keywords` | Keep only the postings whose title, company or description contain this text, for example `software` or `pflege`. |
| `maxItems` | The run stops once this many postings are saved (default 50). |
| `includeDescriptions` | Adds the full job description as plain text. |

Example input:

```json
{
  "language": "de",
  "keywords": "software",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

### Output

One record per posting:

```json
{
  "id": "1e6ad5e0-1972-4371-875b-bb8ac98c2517",
  "url": "https://www.jobs.ch/de/stellenangebote/detail/1e6ad5e0-1972-4371-875b-bb8ac98c2517/",
  "title": "Mitarbeiter:in Mailroom",
  "company": "ISS Schweiz AG",
  "companyUrl": null,
  "employmentType": "Festanstellung",
  "workHours": "42 - 42 hours/week",
  "industry": null,
  "location": "Vulkanplatz 3, Zürich, 8048, CH",
  "region": "Zürich",
  "postalCode": "8048",
  "country": "CH",
  "salaryMin": null,
  "salaryMax": null,
  "salaryCurrency": "CHF",
  "datePosted": "2026-10-01T18:02:49+02:00",
  "jobStartDate": "2026-10-31T16:02:49.000Z",
  "totalJobOpenings": 73,
  "description": "Werde Teil des ISS Schweiz Teams als Mitarbeiter:in Mailroom!..."
}
```

Export the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read it through the Apify API. A real sample (five results, personal data removed, long texts truncated) is in [`sample-output.json`](sample-output.json).

### Three ways to use it

#### 1. Apify console, no code

1. Open [the Actor page](https://apify.com/bibian/jobs-ch-jobs-scraper) and click **Try for free** (a free Apify account is enough).
2. Fill in the language, optional keywords and the maximum number of results, then click **Start**.
3. When the run finishes, open the **Output** tab, check the table, then **Export** as CSV, Excel or JSON.
4. For a daily alert, open **Schedules**, create a daily schedule for the Actor and, optionally, add an integration that sends new results to Slack, e-mail or Google Sheets.

#### 2. Apify API with JavaScript

```bash
npm install apify-client
export APIFY_TOKEN="your token from Apify console, Settings, Integrations"
node examples/run.js
```

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor('bibian/jobs-ch-jobs-scraper').call({
  language: 'de',
  keywords: 'software',
  maxItems: 50,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
```

The complete file is [`examples/run.js`](examples/run.js).

#### 3. Apify API with Python

```bash
pip install apify-client
export APIFY_TOKEN="your token from Apify console, Settings, Integrations"
python examples/run.py
```

```python
import os
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient(os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"])
run = client.actor("bibian/jobs-ch-jobs-scraper").call(run_input={
    "language": "de",
    "keywords": "software",
    "maxItems": 50,
})
items = client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).list_items().items
```

The complete file is [`examples/run.py`](examples/run.py). Never put your token in the code: read it from the `APIFY_TOKEN` environment variable as above.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$3.00 per 1,000 job postings**, plus a tiny start fee of $0.00005 per run. You pay only for the results saved to the dataset. Prices are those shown on the [Store page](https://apify.com/bibian/jobs-ch-jobs-scraper) when this guide was written; the Store page is the reference.

### Why this one

- **No login, no browser.** Postings are read from jobs.ch's own sitemap and each page's published `JobPosting` structured data.
- **Salary kept as numbers** (`salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`) whenever a posting publishes a range, over half of them do.
- **Named HR contacts removed, not just their e-mail.** Many jobs.ch postings sign off with a named recruiter's own phone line under a "Dein Kontakt" / "Ihre Ansprechperson" heading; this Actor drops that whole closing block, not only an e-mail address.

### Good to know

- jobs.ch's search and listing pages are a client-rendered app with no server-rendered job list, so discovery goes through the site's own per-language sitemap (tens of thousands of live postings) instead.
- `employmentType` and `workHours` are kept as jobs.ch publishes them (for example `"Festanstellung"`, `"42 - 42 hours/week"`), not translated or normalized.
- `salaryMin`/`salaryMax` stay empty on postings that do not publish a range; nothing is guessed.
- The dataset contains job postings only. Recruiter and candidate contact details (name, e-mail, direct phone) are never exported.
- This is an unofficial tool, not affiliated with jobs.ch. Check the site's terms and the data protection rules that apply to your use.

### FAQ

**Does it need a browser or a proxy?**
No. The Actor reads jobs.ch's own sitemap and each page's structured data directly.

**How do I get only the new postings every day?**
Schedule the Actor daily with Apify Schedules. Postings are read newest-first from the sitemap; dedupe on `id` if you keep your own copy.

**Can I read postings in French or English instead of German?**
Yes, set `language` to `fr` or `en`. jobs.ch publishes the same postings in all three.

**Can I get the data in Excel or Google Sheets?**
Yes. Export the dataset as CSV, Excel or JSON from the Apify console, or connect the Apify Google Sheets integration.

**Something does not work?**
Open an issue in the Issues tab. Every public actor is test-run daily and the broken ones are repaired.
