## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Canada Job Bank Postings × LMIA Demand

See where Canadian employers are hiring **and** where they are getting approval to hire temporary foreign workers, occupation by occupation. This Actor joins two official Government of Canada open datasets:

- **Job Bank job postings** (monthly), published by ESDC
- **Positive LMIA Employers List** (quarterly), published by ESDC

For every NOC 2021 occupation and province (or city), you get current postings, vacancies, a median hourly wage, and positive LMIA approvals side by side. No scraping and no logins: only the official open data files, under the Open Government Licence – Canada.

### What you get

**Occupation summary** (default): one row per occupation and province (or city). Example values are from a real run: cooks in Ontario, August 2026 postings vs. LMIAs 2025Q2–2026Q1.

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `nocCode` / `occupation` | `63200` / `Cooks` |
| `province` / `provinceCode` / `city` | `Ontario` / `ON` / `Toronto` (city only when grouped by city) |
| `jobBankMonths` | `["2026-08"]` |
| `jobPostings` / `jobVacancies` | `638` / `846` |
| `medianHourlyWage` / `wageSampleSize` | `20.00` / `634` |
| `pctPermanent` (also `pctFullTime`, `pctViaPlacementAgency`) | `57.7` (permanent) |
| `lmiaQuarters` | `["2025Q2","2025Q3","2025Q4","2026Q1"]` |
| `lmiaApprovedPositions` / `lmiaEmployers` | `1229` / `732` |
| `lmiaMainStreams` | `["Low Wage", "High Wage", "Permanent Resident Only"]` |
| `lmiaPositionsPer100Vacancies` | `145.3` |

**Individual postings**: each Job Bank posting (job title, NOC, first posting date, vacancies, city, postal FSA, employment type and term, education and experience level, salary text and an estimated hourly wage), annotated with LMIA approvals for the same occupation in the same province and city.

Export as JSON, CSV or Excel, call it through the Apify API, or schedule it monthly.

### Typical uses

- **Immigration and workforce research:** which occupations and regions rely most on the TFW program compared with how much they advertise locally.
- **Recruiters and HR teams:** benchmark posted wages and demand by occupation and city.
- **Job seekers and advisers:** find occupations and cities where employers are both advertising and obtaining LMIAs, then search Job Bank itself for current openings.
- **Journalists and policy analysts:** track LMIA reliance against local job advertising over time.

### How matching works

The Job Bank open file **does not include employer names**, so postings are matched to LMIA approvals by **occupation (NOC 2021) and place**, not by employer. A posting row tells you "employers in this occupation and province received N positive LMIAs recently". It does **not** say this particular employer holds an LMIA. For employer-level LMIA data, use our [Canada LMIA Employers List](https://apify.com/bigdws77/canada-lmia-employers) Actor.

Hourly wages are estimates, taken from the midpoint of the posted range and normalised from yearly, monthly, weekly or bi-weekly pay using the posted hours (40 h/week if none).

### FAQ

**How current is the data?** ESDC publishes each month's Job Bank file early in the following month, and the LMIA list quarterly. The Actor always uses the latest files published.

**Does it include employer names or contact details?** No. The Job Bank open data has no employer names, and this Actor publishes no personal information. Locations are limited to city, province and the first three characters of the postal code.

**Is a positive LMIA a job offer?** No. It means ESDC confirmed an employer may hire a temporary foreign worker for a position. It is not a job opening, a hire, or a guarantee of anything.

**Can I get live postings?** This Actor uses the official monthly open-data release rather than scraping jobbank.gc.ca, so it trails the live site by about a month.
