## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store + Google Play Reviews Scraper

Get an app's reviews from **both** the Apple App Store and Google Play in one run. Enter an app name, or a link from either store, and the actor finds the same app on the other store and collects reviews from both. A **summary row** per app gives you the average rating, the star breakdown, how often the developer replies, and the most common words in 1-2 star reviews.

No browser, no login, no API keys.

### What people use it for

- **Find what users hate**: pull only 1-2 star reviews and read `topComplaintWords` for the themes.
- **Competitor research**: compare your app with competitors on both stores in one dataset.
- **Review monitoring**: schedule daily with *Only reviews since* set, and get only new reviews.
- **Product and support teams**: send fresh reviews to Slack, Sheets or your helpdesk through Apify integrations.
- **AI and sentiment analysis**: clean review text, stars, dates and app versions, ready for an LLM or a spreadsheet.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| **Apps** | One per line. `Duolingo`, `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/.../id570060128`, `id570060128`, `https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp` or `com.whatsapp`. |
| **Stores** | App Store, Google Play, or both (default). |
| **Countries** | `us`, `gb`, `de`... Each store keeps separate reviews per country. |
| **Max reviews** | Per app, store and country. Default 200. |
| **Sort** | Newest first, or most relevant/helpful. |
| **Only these star ratings** | For example 1 and 2 for complaints only. |
| **Only reviews since** | Skip older reviews. Ideal for scheduled runs. |
| **Find the app on the other store** | On by default. Turn off to stay on the store you linked. |
| **Summary row per app** | On by default. |

### Output

Each review row:

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "store": "play",
  "appId": "com.duolingo",
  "appName": "Duolingo: Learn Languages",
  "country": "us",
  "reviewId": "05262455-2e77-44ed-bc11-b2515857dd44",
  "userName": "Alan Squires",
  "rating": 5,
  "title": null,
  "text": "you can review and learn at your own pace.",
  "date": "2026-10-26T22:47:50Z",
  "appVersion": "6.102.4",
  "thumbsUp": 0,
  "replyText": null,
  "replyDate": null
}
```

Each summary row (`"type": "summary"`) has `storeRating`, `storeRatingCount`, `reviewsCollected`, `averageRating`, `starCounts`, `repliedShare`, `oldestReview`, `newestReview` and `topComplaintWords`. Filter the dataset by `type` to get one or the other.

### Limits you should know

- The **App Store** public review feed returns at most the **500 most recent reviews per country** (or the 500 most helpful). Add more countries to get more. Google Play has no such limit.
- App Store reviews have a title; Google Play reviews have developer replies. Missing fields are `null`.
- Name search takes the best match. Check `matchedBy` in the run summary, or use store links to be exact.

### Pricing

Pay per result:

- **$0.15 per 1,000 reviews** ($0.00015 per review)
- **$0.001 per app summary row**

Proxy and platform usage are included. Inputs that match no app cost nothing.

| Job | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1 app, both stores, 200 reviews each | about $0.06 |
| 10 apps, both stores, 1,000 Play + 500 App Store reviews each | about $2.27 |

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

One per line: an app name (Duolingo), an App Store link or ID (id570060128), or a Google Play link or package (com.whatsapp). The same app on the other store is found automatically.

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Which stores to collect from.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes (us, gb, de...). Each store keeps separate reviews per country.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Google Play has no practical limit. The App Store feed stops at the 500 most recent reviews per country.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest first works best with the date filter.

## `stars` (type: `array`):

Leave empty for all. Pick 1 and 2 to collect complaints only.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Skip reviews older than this date. Use with a daily or weekly schedule to get only new reviews.

## `matchOtherStore` (type: `boolean`):

When you give one store's link, also collect the same app's reviews from the other store.

## `includeSummary` (type: `boolean`):

One extra row per app, store and country: average rating, star breakdown, developer reply rate, top complaint words.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many apps are processed at the same time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy is included in the price.

```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
type = review or summary.
## `runSummary` (type: `string`):
What each input matched on each store, review counts, status.
