## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does InHerSight Scraper do?

InHerSight Scraper extracts structured job data from [inhersight.com](https://inhersight.com) — including company metadata, full descriptions, and ratings and reviews. It supports keyword search and controllable result limits, so you can run the same query consistently over time. The actor also offers detail enrichment (full descriptions and company metadata) where the source provides them.

**New to Apify?** [Sign up free](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=1h3gvi) and use the included $5 monthly platform credit to test this actor.

### Key features

- **🏢 Employer details:** `companyName`, `industry` and `companySize` name the employer behind each job.
- **⭐ Ratings and review counts:** `ratingCount` and `reviewCount` for every job that has them.
- **📇 Contact details:** `websiteUrl` where the job publishes them.
- **🔍 Keyword search:** search inhersight.com by keyword with the `query` input.
- **🔗 Paste-mode:** paste inhersight.com URLs into `startUrls` to scrape exactly the pages you picked in the browser.
- **📋 Detail enrichment:** two-stage mode: list, then enrich each job with the full description + detail-page fields (apply counts, education, etc.). One toggle, no extra orchestration.
- **♻️ Incremental mode:** recurring runs emit only NEW / UPDATED / REAPPEARED records — UNCHANGED and EXPIRED are opt-in. First run builds the baseline; subsequent runs emit and charge only for the diff. Pair with notifications for daily "new jobs" alerts to your hiring team. Saves 80–95% on daily monitoring.
- **🔔 Notifications:** Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp Cloud API, generic webhook — out of the box. Pair with incremental + `notifyOnlyChanges` for daily "new Inhersight jobs" pings to your hiring channel.
- **📦 Compact mode:** AI-agent and MCP-friendly compact payloads with core fields only — pipe straight into your ATS, salary-benchmarking tool, or LLM context without parsing extras.
- **🔌 MCP connectors:** export your results into Notion via Apify's MCP connectors — a clean run-summary page, no glue code. Opt-in via the App connector field; deterministic field-mapping, no AI. Built on Apify's connector framework, so more destinations open up as their catalog grows.
- **📌 Change classification:** each record carries a `changeType` of NEW / UPDATED / UNCHANGED / REAPPEARED / EXPIRED. Default emits NEW + UPDATED + REAPPEARED; opt into the others with `emitUnchanged` / `emitExpired`.

### What data can you extract from inhersight.com?

Each result includes Core job fields (`recordType`, `listingId`, `name`, `slug`, `profileUrl`, `portalUrl`, `score`, and `ratingCount`, and more), detail fields when enrichment is enabled (`descriptionMarkdown` and `detailFetched`), and company metadata (`companyId`, `companyUuid`, `topCompany`, and `companyType`). In standard mode, all fields are always present — unavailable data points are returned as `null`, never omitted. In compact mode, only core fields are returned.

Enable detail enrichment in the input to get richer fields such as full descriptions and company metadata where the source provides them.

### Input

The main inputs are a search keyword and a result limit. Additional filters and options are available in the input schema.

Key parameters:

- **`query`** — Company name or keyword to look up (e.g. "Percepta"); each term returns up to 5 matching companies, which is the most the site's search gives back. Use a JSON array for several terms, e.g. \["Percepta","Deloitte"]. Leave empty to use Start URLs or the best-companies list.
- **`maxResults`** — Maximum number of companies to return (0 = unlimited). Each company's reviews come on top. The best-companies list has 50 companies and a search term returns at most 5. (default: `100`)
- **`startUrls`** — Paste company page URLs from inhersight.com (e.g. https://www.inhersight.com/company/percepta/ratings). Each URL becomes its own company; results are merged and deduped. When provided, Start URLs REPLACE the search terms and the best-companies list (unsupported URLs are skipped, and if none is supported the run stops with an input error). (default: `[]`)
- **`bestCompaniesList`** — Return the ranked "Best Companies to Work For" list (top 50 companies for women, with rank and list name). Combine with search terms to add more companies; ignored when Start URLs are given.
- **`includeDetails`** — Fetch each company's full profile, rating breakdown and employee reviews (one extra record per review). Turn off for the list/search data only, with no further requests. (default: `true`)
- **`includeRatingBreakdown`** — Add the per-category ratings (Women in Leadership, Equal Opportunities, Pay and more) and category groups to each company. Needs Include Company Details. (default: `true`)
- **`includeReviews`** — Emit each company's employee reviews as separate records (recordType "review"). Needs Include Company Details. (default: `true`)
- **`maxReviewsPerCompany`** — Stop after this many reviews per company (0 = all reviews). Default 25: a first run stays quick; raise it or set 0 for full review histories. (default: `25`)
- **`minRating`** — Only return companies with an overall score of at least this (0-5, 0 = no filter). Companies without a score are kept. (default: `0`)
- **`descriptionMaxLength`** — Truncate each review text to N chars. 0 = no truncation. (default: `0`)
- **`compact`** — Core fields only (for AI-agent/MCP workflows). (default: `false`)
- **`excludeEmptyFields`** — Drop null / empty-string / empty-array fields (and fully-null nested objects like socialProfiles) from each output record. Off by default to preserve dataset schema compatibility; turn on to slim output for LLM / agent consumption. (default: `false`)
- ...and 19 more parameters

### Input examples

**Company search** — Search inhersight.com by company name (up to 5 companies per term). Set `bestCompaniesList: false` so only the search runs.

→ One company record per match with score, rating breakdown and profile, plus up to 25 employee reviews per company as separate records.

```json
{
  "query": "Deloitte",
  "bestCompaniesList": false,
  "maxResults": 5
}
```

**Specific company pages** — Paste inhersight.com company URLs to scrape exactly those employers.

→ The company record and its newest reviews for each URL.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    "https://www.inhersight.com/company/percepta"
  ],
  "bestCompaniesList": false,
  "maxReviewsPerCompany": 50
}
```

**Incremental tracking** — Only emit records that changed since the previous run with this `stateKey`.

→ First run builds the baseline state; later runs emit only new or changed records. Set `emitUnchanged: true` to include unchanged records as well.

```json
{
  "bestCompaniesList": true,
  "maxResults": 200,
  "incrementalMode": true,
  "stateKey": "inhersight-tracker"
}
```

**Compact output for AI agents** — Return only core fields for AI-agent and MCP workflows.

→ Small payload with the most important fields, ready to pipe into LLMs without token overhead.

```json
{
  "query": "Deloitte",
  "bestCompaniesList": false,
  "maxResults": 5,
  "compact": true
}
```

### Output

Each run produces a dataset of structured job records. Results can be downloaded as JSON, CSV, or Excel from the Dataset tab in Apify Console.

### Incremental fields

When incremental mode is on, each record also carries:

- `changeType` — one of `NEW`, `UPDATED`, `UNCHANGED`, `REAPPEARED`, `EXPIRED`. Default output covers `NEW` / `UPDATED` / `REAPPEARED`; set `emitUnchanged: true` or `emitExpired: true` to opt into the others.
- `isRepost`, `repostOfId`, `repostDetectedAt` — populated when a new listing matches the tracked content of a previously expired one. Set `skipReposts: true` to drop detected reposts from the output.

### How to scrape inhersight.com

1. Go to [InHerSight Scraper](https://apify.com/blackfalcondata/inhersight-com-scraper?fpr=1h3gvi) in Apify Console.
2. Enter a search keyword.
3. Set `maxResults` to control how many results you need.
4. Enable `includeDetails` if you need full descriptions, company data.
5. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
6. Export the dataset as JSON, CSV, or Excel.

### Use cases

- Research company hiring patterns, employer profiles, and industry distribution.
- Feed structured data into AI agents, MCP tools, and automated pipelines using compact mode.
- Export clean, structured data to dashboards, spreadsheets, or data warehouses.
- Collect ratings and reviews for reputation monitoring and benchmarking.

### How much does it cost to scrape inhersight.com?

InHerSight Scraper uses [pay-per-event](https://docs.apify.com/platform/actors/paid-actors/pay-per-event) pricing. You pay a small fee when the run starts and then for each result that is actually produced.

- **Run start:** $0.009 per run
- **Per result:** $0.0009 per job record

Example costs:

- 10 results: **$0.018**
- 25 results: **$0.032**
- 100 results: **$0.099**
- 200 results: **$0.19**
- 500 results: **$0.46**

#### Example: recurring monitoring savings

These examples compare full re-scrapes with incremental runs at different churn rates. Churn is the share of jobs that are new or whose tracked content changed since the previous run. Actual churn depends on your query breadth, source activity, and polling frequency — the scenarios below are examples, not predictions.

Example setup: 250 jobs per run, daily polling (30 runs/month). Costs scale linearly with the number of jobs.

| Churn rate | Full re-scrape run cost | Incremental run cost | Savings vs full re-scrape | Monthly cost after baseline |
|---|---:|---:|---:|---:|
| 5% — stable niche query | $0.23 | $0.02 | $0.21 (91%) | $0.61 |
| 15% — moderate broad query | $0.23 | $0.04 | $0.19 (82%) | $1.28 |
| 30% — high-volume aggregator | $0.23 | $0.08 | $0.16 (67%) | $2.29 |

Full re-scrape monthly cost at the same cadence: $7.02. First month with incremental costs $0.82 / $1.47 / $2.45 for the 5% / 15% / 30% scenarios because the first run builds baseline state at full cost before incremental savings apply.

Platform usage is included in the per-result fee shown above.

### FAQ

#### How many results can I get from inhersight.com?

The number of results depends on the search query and available jobs on inhersight.com. Use the `maxResults` parameter to control how many results are returned per run.

The hosted server signs you in with OAuth on first connect, so no API token belongs in this config. Clients without OAuth support can send an `Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_API_TOKEN>` header instead, using a token from API & Integrations in Apify Console (https://console.apify.com/settings/integrations).
