## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Loom Video Scraper do?

Loom Video Scraper turns Loom share links into structured record data: one JSON row per video from [loom.com](https://loom.com). Each row carries the video title, owner, duration, view and comment counts, created date and thumbnail, plus the full transcript with timed segments, speakers and ready-made SRT/VTT subtitles wherever Loom provides them. Paste share or embed URLs, embed code or 32-character video IDs, or point it at web pages that embed Loom videos, and get the same fields back on every run.

**New to Apify?** [Sign up free](https://console.apify.com/sign-up?fpr=1h3gvi) and use the included $5 monthly platform credit to test this actor.

### Key features

- **📝 Full transcripts:** `transcript` carries the full spoken text and `transcriptSegments` the timed segments (start, end, speaker), plus links to the caption and transcript files where Loom provides them.
- **🎞️ SRT and VTT subtitles:** `transcriptSRT` and `transcriptVTT` hold the transcript as ready-to-use subtitle files, built from the timed segments.
- **🗣️ Speakers:** `speakers`, `speakerCount` and `speakerSegmentGrouping` list who spoke and group consecutive segments per speaker, when Loom labels speakers.
- **💾 Video file download:** turn on `downloadVideo` to save each video's MP4 into the run's key-value store; `videoKvKey` and `videoStoredUrl` point to the saved file, `videoDownloadError` explains a video that could not be saved. Off by default.
- **👀 Views and engagement:** `viewCount` and `commentCount` show how far each record reached and how people reacted.
- **🖼️ Images:** `thumbnailUrl` on every record, ready for a content library or a feed.
- **🎬 Share links or video IDs:** put Loom share or embed URLs, or 32-character video IDs, in the `query` input; use a JSON array for several videos. Values that are not Loom videos are reported in the log, never fetched.
- **🔗 Paste-mode:** paste loom.com URLs, `{"url": ...}` request objects or iframe embed code into `startUrls` to scrape exactly the videos you picked.
- **🌐 Page discovery:** put any web page into `pageUrls` (a blog post, help-center article or landing page) and every Loom video embedded or linked there is scraped.
- **📋 Detail enrichment:** on by default: each video comes with its transcript, captions and download link. Turn `includeDetails` off for a faster metadata-only run.
- **♻️ Incremental mode:** recurring runs emit and charge only for videos that are new or whose tracked content changed. First run builds the baseline; subsequent runs emit only NEW / UPDATED / REAPPEARED records, and keep scanning past unchanged videos until `maxResults` changes are found.
- **🔔 Notifications:** Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp Cloud API, and generic webhook out of the box. Pair with incremental for alerts on new or changed videos without pipeline glue.
- **📦 Compact mode:** AI-agent and MCP-friendly payloads with core fields only.
- **🔌 MCP connectors:** export your results into Notion via Apify's MCP connectors — a clean run-summary page, no glue code. Opt-in via the App connector field; deterministic field-mapping, no AI. Built on Apify's connector framework, so more destinations open up as their catalog grows.
- **📌 Change classification:** each record carries a `changeType` of NEW / UPDATED / UNCHANGED / REAPPEARED / EXPIRED. Default emits NEW + UPDATED + REAPPEARED; opt into the others with `emitUnchanged` / `emitExpired`. With `emitExpired`, a video that disappeared from your list or page is delivered once as an EXPIRED row (ID, URL, title, first/last seen).

### What data can you extract from loom.com?

Each result includes core video fields (`listingId`, `loomId`, `url`, `title`, `creatorName`, `durationSeconds`, `viewCount`, `commentCount`, `createdAt`, `thumbnailUrl`, and more) and, with detail enrichment (on by default), the transcript, timed segments, speakers, SRT/VTT subtitles and a download link. In standard mode, all fields are always present — unavailable data points are returned as `null`, never omitted. In compact mode, only core fields are returned.

### Input

The main inputs are a result limit. Additional filters and options are available in the input schema.

Key parameters:

- **`query`** — Loom share/embed URLs or 32-character video IDs. Use a JSON array for several videos. Required if no startUrls provided. (default: `"[\"912e89a68ccc42c5ab5096fec7cd63d6\",\"002508e86fde4232bb8de474eb5c65c4\",\"09b1aa507cb846138847bf8e98b56a71\",\"221f217704be4b668928c1a4cacb2f0e\",\"230fc263c6784be7a0a4840a8c8f6216\",\"3690d29d5e3c426eb0f7ea00f9d3ae7b\",\"3dd45fa63b3748cd816c8f9549febcc9\",\"43d05f362f734614a2e81b4694a3a523\",\"473fad25ebd24b5ea8091503253dfecf\",\"4c0c4d7396a543b8a55d67bcf5c0f41c\",\"50fca6637e8e4c5e9ea2d5186baf3d21\",\"56fde5f991b8490d9033dd226ebf3043\"]"`)
- **`startUrls`** — Paste Loom share or embed URLs (loom.com/share/... or loom.com/embed/...) or Loom iframe embed code, one per line. Via the API each entry may also be a {"url": ...} request object, as other Apify actors take it. Each URL is one video; results are merged and deduped by video ID across all URLs. When provided, startUrls REPLACE the query field (each supported URL becomes one task; unsupported URLs are skipped, and if none is supported the run stops with an input error). (default: `[]`)
- **`pageUrls`** — Web pages (any site) to scan for embedded or linked Loom videos; each video found is scraped like a start URL. (default: `[]`)
- **`maxResults`** — Maximum total results (0 = unlimited). (default: `100`)
- **`includeDetails`** — Fetch full video details including transcript and captions. (default: `true`)
- **`downloadVideo`** — Downloads the MP4 into the run's Key-Value Store and adds its key and URL to each record. Only possible when the owner allows downloads; increases run time and storage. (default: `false`)
- **`incrementalMode`** — Compare against previous run state. stateKey is optional — defaults to a value derived from search inputs (queries, startUrls) so different filter sets never share state. (default: `false`)
- **`emitExpired`** — When incremental mode is on, also emit videos that were seen before but are no longer found. (default: `false`)
- **`compact`** — Core fields only (for AI-agent/MCP workflows). (default: `false`)
- ...and 19 more parameters

### Incremental fields

When incremental mode is on, each record also carries:

- `changeType` — one of `NEW`, `UPDATED`, `UNCHANGED`, `REAPPEARED`, `EXPIRED`. Default output covers `NEW` / `UPDATED` / `REAPPEARED`; set `emitUnchanged: true` or `emitExpired: true` to opt into the others.
- `isRepost`, `repostOfId`, `repostDetectedAt` — populated when a new listing matches the tracked content of a previously expired one. Set `skipReposts: true` to drop detected reposts from the output.

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

Loom share/embed URLs or 32-character video IDs. Use a JSON array for several videos. Required if no startUrls provided.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum total results (0 = unlimited).

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Paste Loom share or embed URLs (loom.com/share/... or loom.com/embed/...) or Loom iframe embed code, one per line.

## `pageUrls` (type: `array`):

Web pages (any site) to scan for embedded or linked Loom videos; each video found is scraped like a start URL.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch full video details including transcript and captions.

## `downloadVideo` (type: `boolean`):

Downloads the MP4 into the run's Key-Value Store and adds its key and URL to each record. Only possible when the owner allows downloads; increases run time and storage.

## `descriptionMaxLength` (type: `integer`):

Truncate description to N chars. 0 = no truncation.

## `compact` (type: `boolean`):

Core fields only (for AI-agent/MCP workflows).

Pick a single description representation. `all` keeps every variant; `text` / `html` / `markdown` drop the others.

## `excludeEmptyFields` (type: `boolean`):

Drop null, empty-string, and empty-array fields from each record before push. Smaller payloads for AI agents and dashboards.

## `incrementalMode` (type: `boolean`):

Compare against previous run state. stateKey is optional — defaults to a value derived from search inputs (queries, startUrls) so different filter sets never share state.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Optional. Stable identifier for the tracked search universe. Leave empty to auto-generate from search inputs.

## `skipReposts` (type: `boolean`):

When incremental, skip videos whose content matches an expired video from a prior run (cross-run duplicate detection).

## `emitUnchanged` (type: `boolean`):

When incremental mode is on, also emit videos whose content has not changed since the last run.

## `emitExpired` (type: `boolean`):

When incremental mode is on, also emit videos that were seen before but are no longer found.
