## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Company Lookup by Domain or Name — Wikidata Firmographics

Turn a list of **website domains, company names or Wikidata IDs** into clean company profiles: industry, country, headquarters, founding date, employees, revenue, stock tickers, ISIN, LEI, parent company, and links to OpenCorporates, Crunchbase, LinkedIn and Wikipedia.

The data comes from [Wikidata](https://www.wikidata.org), the open knowledge base behind Wikipedia, released into the public domain (CC0). You can use the output in any product, CRM or dataset with no licence strings attached.

### Use cases

- Enrich a CRM or lead list with industry, country, size and listing data
- Map domains to legal entities, LEIs and ISINs for KYB and finance workflows
- Find parent companies and listed tickers for competitive and market research
- Normalise messy company names to a stable ID (`wikidataId`)

### Input

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| **Website domains** | `stripe.com`, `https://www.natura.com.br/pt`, which is reduced to the domain |
| **Company names** | `Embraer`, `Petrobras`, `Mercado Libre` |
| **Wikidata IDs** | `Q95` |
| **Language** | `en` (default), `pt`, `es`, `de`, … for names and labels |
| **Skip dissolved companies** | leave out companies that no longer exist |

### Output

```json
{
  "query": "Embraer",
}
Employee and financial figures use the most recent value recorded, with its reference date. **No personal data is returned:** there are no executives, founders, employees, emails or phone numbers.
### Good to know
- **Coverage:** Wikidata is strongest for listed, mid-size and well-known companies across the world, and thin for small private businesses. Lookups with no match are listed in `RUN_SUMMARY` and **not charged**.
- **Domain matching** uses the company's official website as recorded in Wikidata. A company whose recorded website includes a path, such as `example.com/en`, may not match by domain. Try its name instead.
- **Name matching** returns the top-ranked organisation for that name, so check `name` and `description` for ambiguous names like "Vale" or "Delta". The `matchedBy` and `query` fields keep each result traceable.
- Requests follow Wikimedia's API etiquette, with a descriptive User-Agent and one request per second.
### Pricing
You pay per company returned. Unmatched lookups are free.
### Licence
Wikidata's structured data is available under [CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/): "You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission." This Actor is not affiliated with Wikimedia.
