## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Macy's Product Scraper - Prices, Ratings & Variants

Turn macys.com into a clean dataset: one row per product with the current price, the regular price, percent off, the sale end date, brand, rating and review count, colors, sizes, per-SKU variants, images, description and specs. No Macy's account and no API key needed.

### What it collects

The actor opens macys.com in a real browser (Macy's is protected by Akamai bot management) and reads the product data the site itself embeds in every page, so the values match what shoppers see.

- **Pricing**: `price`, `original_price`, `price_formatted` (including price ranges), `percent_off`, `on_sale`, `sale_ends`, `currency`
- **Product**: `product_id`, `url`, `name`, `brand`, `product_type`, `category_id`, `in_stock`
- **Ratings**: `rating`, `review_count`, and on product pages the per-star `ratings_breakdown`
- **Variants**: `colors`, `color_count`, `sizes`, and `variants` (one entry per SKU with its UPC ID, color and size)
- **Media and text**: `images`, `thumbnailUrl`, `image_count`, `description`, `specs`
- **Product pages only**: `department`, `division`, `categories` (category path)

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `scrapeMode` | string | `catalog` (browse listings) or `products` (by URL or ID). Default `catalog`. |
| `keyword` | string | Catalog mode: searches Macy's and keeps products whose URL, name, brand or type contains the word. |
| `productUrls` | array | Products mode: Macy's product URLs containing `?ID=` or bare numeric product IDs. |
| `includeDetails` | boolean | Catalog mode: also open each product page to add department, division, category path and ratings breakdown. Default `false`. |
| `maxResults` | integer | Maximum number of products to save. Default `50`. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Proxy settings. Apify RESIDENTIAL (US) is recommended for Macy's. |

Catalog mode starts from the search results for your keyword (or the home page), then follows the category and sale pages those pages link to until `maxResults` products are saved.

```json
{
  "scrapeMode": "catalog",
  "keyword": "boots",
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

```json
{
  "scrapeMode": "products",
  "productUrls": [
    "https://www.macys.com/shop/product/womens-dot-mini-dress?ID=22430669",
    "19711485"
  ]
}
```

### Example output

}
```
Fields Macy's does not publish for a given product are `null` (for example `sale_ends` when there is no dated promotion, or `price` on a product page of an item that is no longer sold).
### Use cases
- Competitive pricing and discount monitoring against your own catalog
- Assortment research: which brands, colors and sizes Macy's carries in a category
- Promotion tracking: on-sale flags, percent off and promotion end dates
- Catalog enrichment: images, specs and SKU tables
### Price per result
You pay per product saved to the dataset (pay-per-result): each row in the dataset is one billed result, and nothing is charged for pages that return no products. The exact price per 1,000 results is shown on the actor's Pricing tab.
# Actor input Schema
## `scrapeMode` (type: `string`):
Catalog walks Macy's product listings (search results when a keyword is set, then the home page and the category and sale pages it links to). Products renders only the product URLs or IDs you supply.
## `keyword` (type: `string`):
Optional. Searches Macy's for this word and keeps only products whose URL, name, brand or type contains it, e.g. "dress", "boots", "handbag". Leave empty to browse everything. Ignored in Products mode.
## `productUrls` (type: `array`):
Macy's product page URLs (containing ?ID=) or bare numeric product IDs. Required when Scrape mode is Products.
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also render every product page found in the catalog to add department, division, category path and the per-star ratings breakdown. Slower: one extra page per product.
## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):
Maximum number of products to save in this run.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Macy's is protected by Akamai bot management; Apify RESIDENTIAL proxy (US) is recommended.
## Actor input object example
```json
{
  "scrapeMode": "catalog",
  "includeDetails": false,
  "maxResults": 50,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
    ],
    "apifyProxyCountry": "US"
  }
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
Dataset with the scraped product records.
