## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Screwfix Product Scraper

Collect product listings from screwfix.com by keyword, category path, or both. Overview mode returns the fields available on search and category cards: SKU, product title, brand, category, GBP prices including and excluding VAT, previous price and savings when shown, rating, review count, images, availability and promotions. Detail mode also visits each product page for its longer description, full image gallery, technical specifications, supplied contents, item condition and manual or datasheet links.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description | Default |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| keywords | string list | Product searches, such as cordless drill or kitchen tap. | cordless drill |
| categoryPaths | string list | Optional category paths copied from a Screwfix URL after /c/. | — |
| scrapeMode | select | overview or detail. | overview |
| maxResults | integer | Maximum number of records across all supplied searches and categories. | 50 |
| proxyConfiguration | object | Optional Apify Proxy settings. Omit or disable it to connect directly. | — |

For example, the category path tools/combi-drills/cat830832 opens Screwfix's Combi Drills listing. The actor follows listing pagination, removes duplicate SKUs across inputs, and stops at maxResults. It reads public product pages without requiring an account. Fields that Screwfix does not provide for an individual item are omitted from that record.

### Example result

```
{
  "item_id": "906KV",
  "productTitle": "DEWALT DCD778P2T-SFGB 18V 2 x 5.0Ah Li-Ion XR Brushless Cordless Combi Drill",
  "brand": "DEWALT",
  "product_type": "Combi Drills",
  "url": "https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcd778p2t-sfgb-18v-2-x-5-0ah-li-ion-xr-brushless-cordless-combi-drill/906kv",
  "source": "overview",
  "price": 249.99,
  "price_ex_vat": 208.32,
  "currency": "GBP",
  "rating": 4.9,
  "review_count": 617
}
```

Detail mode adds product-page data to the same record when Screwfix supplies it. Prices, ratings, availability and the catalogue can change; each run returns the values present when it was collected.

### Pricing

The actor is intended for pay-per-result billing: the platform charges for each product record accepted into the dataset. Check the actor's Apify Store page for the current price per result before running it.
