## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bitcointalk Scraper — Crypto Forum Posts, Threads & Profiles

Extract data from **Bitcointalk** — the original crypto forum where Bitcoin was announced — **anonymously, no account required**. Latest posts, board listings, full thread history, user profiles with rank/merit/activity, and keyword monitoring for OSINT, crypto research, scam tracking, and market intelligence.

### Why Bitcointalk data matters

Bitcointalk is where crypto history lives: every major coin launched an ANN thread here, scammers get exposed in real time on the Scam Accusations board, and reputation (merit/trust/rank) drives a real economy of signature campaigns and account sales. Researchers, journalists, compliance teams, and token founders all need this data — and **forum search requires a login**. This actor doesn't.

### Modes

| Mode | Output | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| `recent` | Latest posts sitewide — board, thread, author, msg ID, excerpt | Real-time monitoring feed |
| `board` | Topics in a board: title, replies, views, starter, last post | Board/topic discovery (e.g. board 159 = Altcoin Announcements) |
| `topic` | Full post history: author, rank, merit, OP flag, dates, text | Thread archives, ANN thread analysis |
| `user` | Profile: posts, activity, merit, position, registered, last active | Reputation intel, account research |
| `watch` | Recent posts filtered by keywords and/or since-msg-ID | Scheduled alerts ("scam", token names) |

### Input examples

**Sitewide firehose:**

```json
{ "mode": "recent", "maxResults": 50 }
```

**Altcoin announcement board, 3 pages:**

```json
{ "mode": "board", "board": "159", "maxPages": 3 }
```

**Full thread history:**

```json
{ "mode": "topic", "topic": "718124", "maxPages": 10 }
```

**Profile intel:**

```json
{ "mode": "user", "users": ["35", "41911"] }
```

**Keyword monitoring** (schedule hourly — msg IDs are sequential, so `sinceMsgId` resumes exactly):

```json
{ "mode": "watch", "keywords": ["scam", "exit scam", "rug"], "sinceMsgId": 67199000 }
```

### Output fields

**post** — `topicId`, `msgId`, `title`, `board`, `boardId`, `date`, `startedBy`, `lastPostBy`, `text`, `url`
**topic** — `topicId`, `title`, `boardId`, `replies`, `views`, `sticky`, `startedBy`, `lastPostBy`, `lastPostDate`, `lastPostMsgId`
**topic\_post** — `topicId`, `msgId`, `poster`, `posterId`, `isOP`, `rank` (Newbie→Legendary), `meritReceived`, `date`, `text`
**user** — `userId`, `username`, `posts`, `activity`, `merit`, `position`, `dateRegistered`, `lastActive`

### Useful boards

`4` Bitcoin Discussion · `159` Altcoin Announcements · `67` Altcoin Discussion · `80` Scam Accusations · `52` Services · `83` Marketplace · `268` Trading Discussion · `7` Economics

### Limits & caveats

- **Anonymous access only** — site search (`search2`) is login-walled, so `watch` mode scans the recent-posts firehose instead (use `sinceMsgId` + keywords to build your own search).
- `recent` returns ~20 posts/page — it's a firehose snapshot; schedule frequent runs for full coverage (forum gets hundreds of posts/hour).
- Dates like "Today at HH:MM" are forum-relative; msg IDs are strictly sequential and reliable for resumption.

### Pricing

**$1.00 per 1,000 results** (pay-per-event). A daily keyword watchlist costs cents.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

recent = latest posts sitewide (monitoring feed). board = topics from a board listing. topic = full post history of a thread. user = profile data + stats. watch = recent posts matching keywords / since a msg ID.

## `board` (type: `string`):

board mode: board ID or URL — e.g. '159' (Altcoin Announcements), '4' (Bitcoin Discussion), 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0'.

## `topic` (type: `string`):

topic mode: topic ID or URL — e.g. '5595509' or 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5595509.0'.

## `users` (type: `array`):

user mode: user IDs, usernames, or profile URLs — e.g. \['35', 'theymos'].

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

watch mode: alert on posts containing any of these (case-insensitive) — e.g. \['airdrop','scam','bitcoin etf'].

## `sinceMsgId` (type: `integer`):

watch/recent: only posts with msg ID greater than this (use last msgId from previous run — IDs are sequential).

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Global cap on rows returned.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional Apify proxy — public pages rarely need it; enable if rate-limited.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "mode": "recent",
  "maxPages": 2,
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

# Actor output Schema
