## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## ImportYeti Monitor — US Import Trade Data

Search and **monitor US import bill-of-lading records** through ImportYeti — public CBP customs data covering sea shipments into the US. Pull complete supply-chain profiles: top suppliers with volumes, HS-code product mix, TEU/weight trends, China exposure, carriers, and the latest bill-of-lading shipments. Then schedule `watch` runs for **new-shipment alerts on any company or supplier**.

Built for **sourcing teams, competitive-intel analysts, sales prospecting (find who imports what you sell), and logistics research** — the same bill-of-lading data that Panjiva/ImportGenius sell for hundreds per month.

### Modes

#### `search` — find companies & suppliers

```json
{ "mode": "search", "query": "walmart" }
```

Returns ranked matches with total shipment counts, most recent shipment date, addresses, and profile URLs.

#### `profile` — full supply-chain intelligence

Paste any `/company/` or `/supplier/` URL:

```json
{
  "mode": "profile",
  "entityUrls": ["https://www.importyeti.com/company/dollar-general"]
}
```

One profile row includes:

- **Totals & trends** — total shipments, shipments last 12m / 12–24m, YoY %, avg TEU/shipment
- **China exposure** — chinaShipments, chinaTeu (tariff/sourcing analysis)
- **`topSuppliers[]`** — each with name, country, shipments-to-company, total TEU/weight, HS codes, and **`topCompanies[]` = who else that supplier serves** (spot shared suppliers across competitors)
- **`hsCodes[]`** — product mix with shipment counts, weight, TEU
- **`recentShipments[]`** — ~45 latest BOL records: bill of lading #, master BOL, ship date, shipper, product description, origin country, weight, quantity, CIF value
- **`carriersPerCountry`** — which shipping lines they use where

#### `watch` — new-shipment alerts ⭐

```json
{
  "mode": "watch",
  "entityUrls": ["https://www.importyeti.com/company/dollar-general"],
  "knownLastShipments": {}
}
```

Poll profiles on a schedule. Emits `shipment_event` rows for BOLs **newer than your last known date**; empty `knownLastShipments` = baseline snapshot of the newest shipment so you can verify wiring. Companies with nothing new emit `company_heartbeat` rows with fresh totals — confirm coverage at a glance.

**Use case**: watch a competitor → get notified when a new supplier appears in their bill-of-lading history, or when shipment volume spikes.

### Output fields

| Row type | Highlights |
|---|---|
| `company_result` | name, address, country, totalShipments, mostRecentShipment, profile URL |
| `company_profile` | totals, trends, china metrics, topSuppliers\[], hsCodes\[], recentShipments\[], carriers |
| `shipment_event` | companyName, date, billOfLading, shipperName, productDescription, originCountry, weightKg, cifUsd, supplierUrl |
| `company_heartbeat` | coverage confirmation with latest totals |
| `error` | url + error for per-item failures |

### Notes

- **No login, no API key** — works from Apify datacenter IPs.
- Data = US **sea** imports (CBP bill-of-lading public records); air/truck/rail not covered — standard for this data class.
- \~45 most-recent BOL records embedded per profile — deep history lives on the site.
- "Missing in source document" entries are ImportYeti's own artifacts (unparseable manifest names), kept for completeness.
