## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Indeed Job Monitor — New-Posting Alerts for Recruiters & Job Seekers

Track Indeed job postings by **keyword + location** — full description, employer, skills, and exact publish timestamp, sorted newest-first — plus a **watch mode built for scheduled first-to-apply alerts**. No login, no API key.

Job postings get most of their applicants in the first 24–48 hours. Poll your keywords on a schedule and see new posts the moment they land — recruiters spot competitors hiring, agencies find client leads, job seekers apply first.

### What you can do

| Mode | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| `search` | Jobs for a keyword + location — title, employer, location, full description, skills, posted time, apply URL | Market scans, comp research, lead gen |
| `watch` | Sweeps a **list of {what, where} pairs** each run, emitting `job_snapshot` rows newest-first | Scheduled new-job alerts |

### Example inputs

```json
{ "mode": "search", "what": "registered nurse", "where": "Houston, TX", "maxResults": 100 }
```

```json
{ "mode": "watch", "queries": [
  { "what": "data engineer", "where": "Remote" },
  { "what": "account executive", "where": "New York, NY" },
  { "what": "electrician", "where": "Phoenix, AZ" }
] }
```

### Example output

```json
{
  "recordType": "job_snapshot",
  "jobId": "102728ccef16587f",
  "title": "Software Test Engineer",
  "employer": "Visa",
  "location": "Austin, TX 78759",
  "description": "Visa is a world leader in payments...",
  "skills": ["Project reporting", "ERP systems", "Materials management"],
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-16T05:00:00+00:00",
  "expired": false,
  "url": "https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=102728ccef16587f",
  "query": "software engineer",
  "locationQuery": "Austin, TX",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-17T04:10:00Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Flat pay-per-event: **$0.001 per job row** — 5 keyword+location pairs polled hourly ≈ 108k rows/mo ≈ **$108/mo** for always-on coverage. One placement or one early application pays for years.

### FAQ

**Do I need an Indeed account?** No — this uses the public job-search surface.

**How fresh is the data?** Results are sorted by publish date (`sort=DATE`), 25 jobs per request, cursor-paginated to `maxResults`.

**How do I get only *new* jobs?** Rows carry `jobId` + `publishedAt` — keep seen IDs in your pipeline and alert on first-seen. `watch` + Apify Schedules + a webhook is a real alert loop.

**Why the residential proxy?** Indeed blocks datacenter IPs — the actor defaults to Apify Residential proxy (billed separately by Apify at bandwidth rates; a typical run is well under 1 MB).

**Is salary included?** When employers publish it, salary appears inside `description`/`attributes` text — Indeed's API doesn't expose a standalone salary field for most listings.

**Is it legal?** We collect only publicly accessible job-search data. Respect Indeed's Terms of Service and applicable rules in your jurisdiction.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

'search' jobs by keyword + location (newest first), or 'watch' sweeps a list of keyword/location pairs for scheduled new-job alerts.

## `what` (type: `string`):

What to search — job title, skill, company, or keyword, e.g. 'software engineer', 'registered nurse', 'welder'. Same syntax as Indeed's 'what' box.

## `where` (type: `string`):

Where to search — city, state, zip, or 'Remote'. Same syntax as Indeed's 'where' box.

## `queries` (type: `array`):

List of {what, where} pairs to sweep each run — e.g. \[{"what": "nurse", "where": "Remote"}]. Plain strings also accepted (searched everywhere).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum jobs per query (fetched 25 per request).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy — Indeed blocks datacenter IPs, so residential is required and enabled by default.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "mode": "search",
  "what": "software engineer",
  "where": "Austin, TX",
  "queries": [
      "what": "data engineer",
      "where": "Austin, TX"
    },
    {
      "what": "python",
      "where": "Remote"
    }
  ],
  "maxResults": 50,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
