## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Reviews Scraper & Monitor (Android Apps)

**By Harlo.** Unofficial tool. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Google LLC. Google Play is a trademark of Google LLC.

Scrape and monitor Google Play Store reviews for one or many Android apps across countries and languages. Paste package ids (`com.whatsapp`) or Play Store URLs, get one clean row per review — star rating, text, helpful votes, app version, date and the **developer's reply**. Schedule it to receive only **new** and **edited** reviews.

### What you get

- **One row per review:** rating, title, content, thumbsUp, appVersion, updatedAt, replyText, replyAt, a link to the review, and a stable `reviewKey`. Reviewer names are omitted unless you turn on `includeReviewerName`.
- **Many apps × countries × languages** in one run (up to 40 combinations), up to 2,000 reviews each.
- **Sort:** NEWEST (best for monitoring), RATING or HELPFULNESS.
- **Star filter:** e.g. only 1–2 star reviews for complaint alerts.
- **App info + statistics in `OUTPUT`:** app name, developer, score, rating count, installs; per app/country/language average rating, share of 1–2 star reviews, newest/oldest date.
- **Monitor mode** (`onlyNewSinceLastRun`): first run is a baseline; later runs return only `new` reviews and `changed` ones (rating, text, version or developer reply changed) with a `previous` object. With NEWEST, paging stops once a full page is already known.
- **Compact output** for spreadsheets and LLM pipelines.

### Input example

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.spotify.music", "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "languages": ["en"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 300,
  "ratings": ["1", "2"],
  "onlyNewSinceLastRun": true
}
```

### Output example (full row)

```json
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.00005 per Actor start** + **$0.0003 per review row** (`review`) — 1,000 reviews ≈ $0.30. Only delivered rows are charged, and the run's maximum total charge is respected.

### FAQ

**How does delta (monitor) mode work?** Turn on `onlyNewSinceLastRun` and schedule the Actor. State lives in a named key-value store, `google-play-reviews-monitor-state`, in your own account — one record per input set (apps, countries, languages, sort, ratings). Rows cut by `maxItems` or your cost limit are delivered on the next run.

**How often should I schedule it?** Daily suits most apps; hourly for very busy apps with `maxReviewsPerApp` ≥ 300.

**Can I use it from an AI agent / MCP?** Yes — call it through the Apify MCP server or API; the compact format keeps payloads small.

**Is it official?** No. It reads public Google Play pages at a polite pace (≥ 1 s between requests, retries with backoff) using the open-source `google-play-scraper` library. No login, no private data. Client identifier: `google-play-reviews-monitor/0.1 (Apify Actor by Harlo; unofficial; digitalpromohub.support@gmail.com)`.

**Limits:** Google decides which reviews it shows per language/country; star-only ratings without text may be missing; Google may change its pages, in which case runs report errors in `scopesFailed`.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Google Play package ids (e.g. com.whatsapp) or play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=... URLs.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter country codes (Google Play gl=), e.g. "us", "gb", "de". Default \["us"].

## `languages` (type: `array`):

Review language codes (Google Play hl=), e.g. "en", "de", "pt-BR". Default \["en"]. apps x countries x languages max 40 per run.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

How many reviews to read for each app, country and language combination (150 per request).

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Google Play review order. Use NEWEST for monitoring.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

Keep only reviews with these star ratings (e.g. 1 and 2 for complaint monitoring). Empty = all. Statistics in OUTPUT always use every review read.

## `includeReviewerName` (type: `boolean`):

Add the reviewer's public Google Play display name to each row. Off by default (data minimisation).

## `onlyNewSinceLastRun` (type: `boolean`):

Remember delivered reviews per input set in a named key-value store in your account (google-play-reviews-monitor-state). Later runs return only new reviews and edited reviews (rating, text, app version or developer reply changed, with previous values). First run = baseline.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum dataset rows per run (each row is one charged event). In monitor mode, rows over the limit are delivered on the next run.

## `outputFormat` (type: `string`):

full = all fields; compact = reviewKey, updateType, appName, country, language, rating, title, content, appVersion, updatedAt, replyText, previous, changeHash.
