## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SmartRecruiters Jobs Scraper

Recruiters and sales-intel teams tracking a specific company's hiring get every open SmartRecruiters role with date filters, without downloading the whole board and filtering by hand. SmartRecruiters is common among enterprise employers, rounding out coverage alongside Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby.

Get clean, structured job listings from a company's public SmartRecruiters board as JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it as a tool from Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client. Pay only for the results you receive.

### What you get

Give it one or more SmartRecruiters company identifiers or careers URLs and it returns every open job on that board: title, department, location, remote flag, employment type, posted and updated dates, and the job's own listing URL.

Every result is a flat record with stable field names, so it drops straight into a spreadsheet, a database or an AI agent's context.

### Why use this instead of the website

- Posted-after and updated-after date filters
- Every department and location in one run, no caps
- Filters and pagination handled for you, with automatic retries
- Results in JSON, CSV, Excel or via API, or piped into Zapier, Make, n8n and Google Sheets
- Works as an MCP tool, so AI agents can fetch open roles on demand
- No browser, no proxies, no personal data: fast runs and a tiny cost per result

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Meaning |
|-------|------|---------|---------|
| `companies` | array | | SmartRecruiters company identifiers or careers URLs, e.g. `SmartRecruiters` or `https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/SmartRecruiters` |
| `postedAfter` | string | | ISO date; only jobs first posted on or after this date |
| `updatedAfter` | string | | ISO date; only jobs posted or last updated on or after this date |
| `maxResults` | integer | 200 | Cap on results saved. You are charged per result, so this caps your cost. |

Example input:

```json
{
  "companies": ["SmartRecruiters"],
  "maxResults": 200
}
```

### Output

Sample rows from a live run:

| title | department | location | remote |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Operations Consultant | Technical Services | Poland, Remote, pl | True |

Full example result:

```json
{
  "ats": "smartrecruiters",
  "company": "SmartRecruiters",
  "jobId": "743999705",
  "title": "Account Executive",
  "department": "Sales",
  "location": "Berlin, Germany",
  "remote": false,
  "employmentType": "Full-time",
  "url": "https://jobs.smartrecruiters.com/SmartRecruiters/743999705",
  "postedAt": "2026-08-15T00:00:00Z",
  "updatedAt": "2026-09-01T00:00:00Z",
  "description": null
}
```

Field reference: `ats`, `company`, `jobId`, `title`, `department`, `location`, `remote`, `employmentType`, `url`, `postedAt`, `updatedAt`. `description` is always null: SmartRecruiters' list endpoint does not include job descriptions, and this Actor does not make a second, per-job request to keep cost and run time low.

### Pricing

Pay per event. You are charged **$2.00 per 1,000 results** saved to the dataset, plus a fraction of a cent per run start. Nothing is charged for results you do not receive. Set "Max total charge per run" in the run options to cap spending on any run. When a run reaches your cap it stops cleanly and keeps everything it already saved.

Rough guide: 1,000 results cost $2.00 and take about 20 seconds.

### Use it from an AI agent (MCP)

This Actor is available as an MCP tool through the Apify MCP server. Add it to your client, then ask the agent for the data in plain language.

Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor (`mcp.json` / `claude_desktop_config.json`):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apify": {
      "url": "https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=brightpath-data/smartrecruiters-jobs",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}
```

ChatGPT and other clients that support remote MCP servers: add `https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=brightpath-data/smartrecruiters-jobs` as a connector with your Apify token.

Example prompt once connected: "List every open sales role at SmartRecruiters."

### Use it from code

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/brightpath-data~smartrecruiters-jobs/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"companies":["SmartRecruiters"],"maxResults":200}'
```

Python:

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("brightpath-data/smartrecruiters-jobs").call(run_input={"companies": ["SmartRecruiters"], "maxResults": 200})
items = client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).list_items().items
```

### Limits and fair use

- Up to 2,000 postings per company per run, and up to 10,000 results per run overall.
- A company with no public SmartRecruiters board returns nothing for that entry rather than an error.
- Need jobs from more than one ATS in a single run? See `career-site-jobs`, which covers 10 platforms including SmartRecruiters.

### Data source and legal

Data comes from the public, unauthenticated SmartRecruiters Posting API (`api.smartrecruiters.com/v1/companies/.../postings`) that every SmartRecruiters customer's career site is built on. This Actor collects public, non-personal data only and does not bypass logins, paywalls or access controls. You are responsible for how you use the data.

### Support

Found a problem or need a field added? Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab. Fixes for broken runs are prioritized.

Maximum number of jobs to save. You are charged per result saved, so this also caps the cost of a run.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "companies": [
    "SmartRecruiters"
  ],
  "maxResults": 200
}
