# Email Deliverability Audit: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, BIMI (`brightrun/email-auth-audit`) Actor

Bulk email deliverability audit. Checks SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, BIMI and MTA-STS for each domain, grades it A to F and gives the exact fix. Built for agencies and teams meeting Gmail and Yahoo sender rules.

## Pricing

from $10.00 / 1,000 domain auditeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Email Deliverability Audit: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, BIMI

Audit the email authentication of any number of sending domains in one run. Each domain gets an **A to F grade**, a **0 to 100 score**, and a **plain-English list of what to fix first**.

**$10 per 1,000 domains audited. Invalid domains and failed lookups are free.**

### Who it is for

- **Agencies and freelancers** onboarding clients onto cold email, newsletters or CRM sending.
- **Ops and marketing teams** checking they meet the **Gmail and Yahoo bulk-sender rules** (SPF, DKIM and DMARC required).
- **Lead-gen and sales teams** screening prospect domains before outreach.

### What it checks

| Check | What you get |
|---|---|
| **SPF** | Present, single record, DNS-lookup count against the 10 limit, `all` qualifier, deprecated `ptr` |
| **DKIM** | Probes 37 common selectors (Google, Microsoft 365, SendGrid, Mailgun, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, GoHighLevel and more) plus any you add; flags revoked and short keys |
| **DMARC** | Policy (none / quarantine / reject), `pct`, report address |
| **MX** | Records and priority |
| **BIMI, MTA-STS** | Present or not |

### Input

- **Domains:** `example.com`, `https://www.example.com/page` or `jane@example.com` all work.
- **Extra DKIM selectors:** optional, if your platform uses a custom one.

### Output (one row per domain)

```json
{
  "domain": "example.com",
  "grade": "C",
  "score": 71,
  "summary": "Grade C (71/100). Fix first: DMARC policy is p=none (monitoring only)...",
  "bulkSenderReady": true,
  "spf": { "status": "ok", "lookups": 6, "allQualifier": "~" },
  "dkim": { "status": "found", "selectors": [{ "selector": "google" }] },
  "dmarc": { "policy": "none", "pct": 100, "reportAddress": "mailto:dmarc@example.com" },
  "mx": { "count": 5 },
  "issues": [{ "severity": "medium", "message": "...", "fix": "..." }]
}
```

### Notes

- Reads public DNS only. No emails are sent and nothing is changed on your domain.
- DKIM can only be confirmed for selectors we probe. If yours is custom, add it under **Extra DKIM selectors**.
- Results reflect DNS at run time; recent changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Sending domains to audit, for example example.com. Up to 1,000 per run. URLs and email addresses are accepted and reduced to their domain.

## `dkimSelectors` (type: `array`):

Optional. Add your own DKIM selectors (for example the one shown in your sending platform). Common selectors for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Mailgun, SendGrid, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, GoHighLevel and others are always checked.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "domains": [
        "github.com",
        "example.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("brightrun/email-auth-audit").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
