## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk PageSpeed Insights & Core Web Vitals Checker

Paste a list of URLs. For each page you get Google's **PageSpeed (Lighthouse) score**, **Core Web Vitals**, **real-user pass/fail**, page weight and the **biggest fixes**, in one row. Mobile, desktop or both.

**$4 per 1,000 page tests. Pages that fail to load are free.**

### What you get per page

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `performanceScore` | 87 (0-100, same score as pagespeed.web.dev) |
| `coreWebVitalsPass` | true / false from real Chrome users (null if Google has too little traffic data) |
| `lcpMs`, `cls`, `tbtMs`, `fcpMs`, `speedIndexMs` | Lab metrics from a fresh Lighthouse run |
| `fieldLcpMs`, `fieldInpMs`, `fieldCls` | Real-user 75th percentile, last 28 days (page, or whole site as fallback) |
| `pageWeightKb`, `requests` | 1,500 KB, 42 requests |
| `topOpportunity`, `topOpportunities` | "Reduce unused JavaScript", with estimated time saved |
| `seoScore`, `accessibilityScore`, `bestPracticesScore` | Optional, no extra cost |

### Use cases

- **SEO and web agencies:** audit a client's top 500 pages in one run, or score a prospect list and pitch the slow sites.
- **Site owners:** find which templates fail Core Web Vitals before Google notices.
- **Monitoring:** schedule a weekly run on key pages and export to Sheets, Slack or a webhook.

### How it works

Uses Google's official PageSpeed Insights API, the same engine as pagespeed.web.dev. No scraping, no logins, no personal data.

Runs on our Google API key by default. **Big lists or heavy schedules:** add your own free key (Google Cloud > enable PageSpeed Insights API > Credentials > Create API key, 25,000 tests a day free) in the optional field.

### Notes

- Lab scores vary a few points between runs; that's normal for Lighthouse.
- `coreWebVitalsPass` uses Google's "good" thresholds: LCP up to 2.5 s, INP up to 200 ms, CLS up to 0.1.
- Pages that time out or block Google's tester return `status: page_error` and are not charged.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to test, one per line. example.com and https://example.com/pricing both work. Up to 5,000 per run.

## `strategy` (type: `string`):

Mobile is what Google ranks on. 'Both' tests each URL twice (charged twice).

## `extraCategories` (type: `array`):

Performance is always included. Add SEO, accessibility or best-practices scores at no extra cost.

## `googleApiKey` (type: `string`):

Optional. A free PageSpeed Insights API key from Google Cloud makes big runs faster and avoids rate limits. Not stored or logged.

        "https://web.dev"
    ]
};

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("brightrun/pagespeed-audit").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
