## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

**Bulk Email Verifier & Validator** checks every address on your list against the mail server that would receive it and tells you whether the mailbox exists. You get **valid**, **invalid**, **catch-all** or **unknown** for each email, the reason code, the mail provider and the date it was checked. It costs **$0.57 per 1,000 emails**, and unknown answers are free.

### What does Bulk Email Verifier check?

- **Mailbox exists:** an SMTP check against the domain's own mail server, without sending an email.
- **Catch-all domains:** domains that accept every address are marked catch-all, so you can decide whether to send.
- **Microsoft 365 and Outlook accounts:** answered too, including the ones a plain mailbox check can't confirm.
- **Dead domains:** no MX record, a null MX, or a domain that refuses mail.
- **Syntax:** malformed addresses come back invalid at once and cost nothing to check.

### How to verify an email list

1. Paste your emails into **Emails**, one per line (or send them through the API).
2. Leave **Max minutes to wait** at 10. Some mail servers answer "try again later" first; the run waits for a clear answer up to this limit.
3. Click **Start**. Results land in the dataset as each email is answered.

### Output example

```json
{
  "email": "jane.doe@acme.com",
  "status": "valid",
  "reason": "accepted",
  "catch_all": false,
  "free_provider": false,
  "mx_provider": "google",
  "checked_at": "2026-11-03T15:04:11.000Z"
}
```

### How much does it cost to verify emails?

**$0.57 per 1,000 emails** with a clear answer (valid, invalid or catch-all). An email that ends as unknown is not charged. A list of 10,000 emails costs at most $5.70.

### How fast is it?

Most emails are answered within minutes. Mail servers that ask to retry can add a few minutes to a run.

### FAQ

**Is this a ZeroBounce or NeverBounce alternative?** Yes. It does the same mailbox check on your list, pay per email with no monthly plan.

**Do you send emails to my contacts?** No. The check stops before any message is sent.

**What should I do with catch-all emails?** The domain accepts every address, so no checker can confirm the person. Send to them only if your sending setup can absorb a few bounces.

**Can I call it from my code or from an AI agent?** Yes. Use the Apify API, or add the actor as a tool in the Apify MCP server.
