## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Business Contact Finder - Emails, Socials & Platform

Paste a list of websites and get back the **business contacts each site publishes**: role-based emails (info@, support@, sales@, hello@...), the contact page, whether there is a contact form, company social profiles, the platform the site runs on, and whether the domain can receive email at all.

**Business contacts only.** Addresses that look personal (firstname@, j.smith@...) are counted in `personalEmailsHidden` but never returned. Phone numbers are not collected. This keeps your lists cleaner and your outreach on the right side of privacy rules.

### What you get per website

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `businessEmails` | `["help@allbirds.com"]` (same-domain addresses first) |
| `personalEmailsHidden` | `2` personal-looking addresses found and withheld |
| `contactPage` | `https://example.com/pages/contact` |
| `contactForm` | `true` if a form with an email field was found |
| `socials` | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn company page, YouTube, Pinterest |
| `platform` | Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Webflow, Ecwid |
| `domainAcceptsEmail` | `false` means the domain has no MX record, so emails to it will bounce |
| `title`, `pagesChecked`, `status` | Page title, pages read, and why a site could not be checked |

It reads the homepage plus the usual contact, about, support and impressum pages (6 by default), finds `mailto:` links, plain-text and obfuscated addresses (`info [at] site [dot] com`, Cloudflare-protected emails), and follows the site's own contact/about links.

### Why the MX check matters

In our own sample of new US Shopify stores, **62% of domains had no MX record**: an email to info@ on those domains bounces. `domainAcceptsEmail` tells you before you send, which protects your sender reputation.

### Input

```json
{
  "websites": ["allbirds.com", "https://www.example-store.com"],
  "maxPagesPerSite": 6,
  "onlyWithEmail": false,
  "includeEmpty": true
}
```

- **onlyWithEmail**: charge and return only sites where a business email was found.
- **includeEmpty**: keep a free row for sites that were unreachable or had nothing, so you see why.

### Output example

```json
{
  "domain": "allbirds.com",
  "title": "Allbirds: Comfortable, Sustainable Shoes & Apparel",
  "businessEmails": ["help@allbirds.com"],
  "personalEmailsHidden": 0,
  "contactPage": null,
  "contactForm": true,
  "socials": {"instagram": "https://www.instagram.com/allbirds", "facebook": "https://www.facebook.com/weareallbirds", "tiktok": "https://www.tiktok.com/@weareallbirds", "x": "https://twitter.com/allbirds"},
  "platform": "Shopify",
  "domainAcceptsEmail": true,
  "pagesChecked": 1,
  "contactsFound": true,
  "status": "ok"
}
```

### Pricing

**$1.90 per 1,000 websites where contacts were found** (event `site-with-contacts`). Sites that are unreachable or where nothing was found are **free**.

### Good to know

- Some sites rate-limit repeated requests; checking a few thousand sites per run works best.
- Social links are the company profiles linked from the site, not personal accounts.
