## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Estonia Company Financials do?

Get **annual-report financial indicators for Estonian companies** by registry code. The Actor joins official e-Business Register open-data files into clean JSON with revenue, assets, equity, liabilities, profit, employees and useful financial ratios.

- Retrieve the latest annual report or up to **3 years of history** per company.
- Read company identity and current registry status from the daily basic-data file.
- See the official **data cut**, source archive and extraction timestamp on every row.
- Pay only for rows containing financial data; unknown companies and metadata-only reports are not charged.

### Why use it?

Use this Actor for **supplier due diligence, credit analysis, company research and financial monitoring** without downloading and joining hundreds of megabytes of CSV files yourself.

Typical workflows:

- enrich an Estonian supplier or customer record with recent financials;
- compare revenue, profitability and balance-sheet strength over three years;
- feed structured company financials into a spreadsheet, data warehouse or AI agent;
- schedule periodic checks through Apify, Make, Zapier or n8n.

The Actor works through the Apify API, dataset exports and MCP. It does not require an e-Business Register account or API credentials.

### What data can you get?

Each row represents one company-year and includes:

- company code, name, legal form, status, VAT number, registration date and address;
- report ID, year, period, submission date, consolidation and audit flags;
- cash, current and non-current assets, total assets;
- current and non-current liabilities, equity and share capital;
- revenue, employee expense, depreciation, operating profit, net profit and profit before tax;
- retained earnings and average full-time-equivalent employees;
- calculated **net profit margin**, **equity ratio** and **current ratio**.

Amounts retain the values and signs in the official reports. The open-data documentation does not provide a separate machine-readable currency field, so this Actor does not invent one. Empty source values remain `null`; they are never converted to zero.

### Example output

```json
{
    "found": true,
    "companyCode": "10234957",
    "companyName": "Telia Eesti AS",
    "legalForm": "Aktsiaselts",
    "status": "Registrisse kantud",
    "reportId": "3446052",
    "reportYear": 2025,
    "periodStart": "2025-01-01",
    "periodEnd": "2025-12-31",
    "submittedAt": "2026-06-30",
    "sourceCut": "2026-09-30",
    "fetchedAt": "2026-10-29T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

The example uses public company data validated during development. The dataset also contains the remaining fields listed above.

### How much does it cost?

**$25.00 per 1,000 financial statements** (`financial-statement`), or **$0.025 per statement**.

There is no Actor-start fee. A company with no available financial indicators, an unknown registry code, or a report containing only metadata is returned without the financial-statement charge. Cached results still count as delivered financial statements.

### Free n8n workflow

[Download the ready-to-import Estonia financial lookup workflow](https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/2adhfhT2wfW54leSK/records/estonia-company-financials-lookup.json). Enter a registry code and receive normalized company-year fields ready for Google Sheets, Airtable, a database or an AI agent. The JSON contains no credentials; use n8n Header Auth credentials for your Apify token.

### How to use it

1. Add one or more 8-digit Estonian company registry codes.
2. Choose **1 year** for the latest report or up to **3 years** of history.
3. Keep the small default result limit for the first run.
4. Start the Actor and export JSON, CSV or Excel.

Example input:

```json
{
    "companyCodes": ["10234957"],
    "historyYears": 3,
    "maxItems": 3
}
```

### Official source and freshness

The Actor uses the [Estonian e-Business Register open-data downloads](https://avaandmed.ariregister.rik.ee/en/downloading-open-data), released for reuse under **CC BY 4.0**. Attribution: **Estonian Centre of Registers and Information Systems (RIK)**.

Three file types are joined by registry code and `report_id`:

- daily basic company data for identity and status;
- annual-report metadata for reporting periods and submission details;
- annual key-indicator files for financial values.

Annual-report files are updated **monthly**. The Actor discovers the current archive URLs on every cold refresh and reports the source cut rather than claiming real-time financial data. Basic company data is updated daily.

The first lookup downloads only the official archives needed for the requested years and streams them row by row. Both source archives and normalized company results are cached in a persistent Actor key-value store for **168 hours** by default. Later lookups for new companies can therefore reuse the downloaded archives. Set `forceRefresh` to bypass both cache levels.

### Limits and safeguards

- 1–100 registry codes per run.
- 1–3 reports per company.
- 300 maximum output rows per run.
- 150 MB compressed-size limit per source archive.
- Network errors, HTTP 429 and HTTP 5xx use bounded retries; other 4xx responses do not retry.
- Invalid ZIP, CSV structure, report joins and numeric values count as parsing failures and fail the run.
- No proxy, browser, login, CAPTCHA bypass or paid external API.

### Privacy and scope

This Actor intentionally excludes owners, board members, beneficial owners, personal contacts and personal identification numbers. It uses company and annual-report data only. The open-data files no longer contain personal identification numbers.

### Development and validation

```bash
npm install
npm run build
npm test
npm run lint
apify validate-schema
apify run
```

The bundled smoke input looks up Telia Eesti AS (`10234957`). Unit tests use saved samples from the official CSV files and cover company mapping, report selection, financial joins, ratios, negative amounts, missing data, source discovery, retries and malformed responses.
