# robots.txt & Sitemap Analyzer: Crawlability Check (`centorprat/robots-sitemap-analyzer`) Actor

Give it domains. For each it parses robots.txt (user-agents, allow/disallow, crawl-delay, declared sitemaps, blocks-all) and the XML sitemap(s) (URL counts, nested sitemaps, lastmod coverage), and flags crawlability issues - with a signal and findings. Keyless, read-only.

## Pricing

from $12.75 / 1,000 domain analyzeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## robots.txt & Sitemap Analyzer: Crawlability Check

**Make sure search engines can actually crawl and index your site.** Give it domains; for each it parses
the **robots.txt** (user-agents, allow/disallow rules, crawl-delay, declared sitemaps, and whether it
blocks all crawlers) and the **XML sitemap(s)** (URL counts, nested sitemaps, `lastmod` coverage), and
flags crawlability issues — with a clear signal. Keyless, agent-callable.

> 🤖 **Read-only.** It fetches `/robots.txt` and the XML sitemap(s). Recommendations, not a verdict.

### 📋 What each report contains

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `signal` | `healthy` / `ok-with-recommendations` / `needs-attention` |
| `robotsTxt` | found, group count, user-agents, total disallow rules, declared sitemaps, `blocksAllCrawlers`, crawl-delay |
| `sitemaps` | each sitemap: type (`urlset`/`sitemapindex`), URL count or child-sitemap count, lastmod coverage, validity |
| `findings` | e.g. blocks-all-crawlers, no sitemap, sitemap not declared in robots, >50k URLs, no lastmod |

### 📥 Input

```json
{ "domains": ["example.com", "your-brand.org"] }
```

### 📤 Example output (real run, trimmed — apple.com)

```json
{ "domain": "apple.com", "signal": "ok-with-recommendations",
  "robotsTxt": { "found": true, "groups": 6, "totalDisallowRules": 9, "blocksAllCrawlers": false },
  "sitemaps": [ {"type": "sitemapindex", "childSitemaps": 47, "valid": true} ] }
```

### 💰 Pricing (pay-per-event)

- **Domain analyzed — $0.015** per domain.

### 💡 Use cases

- **SEO / technical SEO:** confirm nothing is accidentally blocking crawlers and your sitemap is valid and declared.
- **Migrations / launches:** catch a stray `Disallow: /` or a missing sitemap before it deindexes you.
- **Agencies:** audit crawlability across a portfolio of client domains.
- **Agents:** callable as an MCP tool — give it domains, get back a crawlability report.

### 🔑 Keyless & agent-callable

No API keys, no accounts, no paid child Actors — just read-only fetches of robots.txt and the sitemap.
