## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Taiwan Broker Financials API (證券商財務資料・月計表・收支概況)

**How much did Yuanta, KGI or Fubon Securities make last month, and how is each Taiwan securities firm's balance sheet put together?** This Actor returns the monthly balance sheet and income statement of every Taiwan securities firm back to January 2013, each firm's complete trial balance and income-and-expense accounts for the latest month, and the register of firms and branch offices with headcount — all from the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and checked against each other.

Many Taiwan securities firms are unlisted subsidiaries, so their numbers never show up in a listed-company financial-statement feed — and even for the listed ones, quarterly filings are consolidated and three months apart. The exchange publishes every firm's own figures **monthly**: a condensed report since 1999, and the full 746-account trial balance as open data. This Actor turns both into one clean dataset.

### Output

Five record types in one dataset, told apart by `record_type`. Real rows:

**`monthly_financials`** — condensed balance sheet plus the month's and year-to-date income statement, per firm per month, **history from 2013-01** (證券商月報・證券商財務資料)

### History

| Record type | History | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `monthly_financials` | **2013-01 →** | one spreadsheet per firm category per month |
| `income_statement` | latest month | open data, no history parameter |
| `trial_balance` | latest month | open data, no history parameter |
| `firm`, `branch` | today | register snapshots |

The exchange's monthly reports go back to 1999, but before 2013 they use the old ROC GAAP chart of accounts (受託買賣借項, 營業外收入 and so on) in a different layout. Those years are not included rather than forced into IFRS columns they do not match.

Firms are reported in five categories, each its own file: `integrated` (綜合證券商), `broker` (專業證券經紀商), `futures_firm` (期貨兼營證券商), `two_business` (經營二種業務證券商, from 2017-07) and `dealer` (專業證券自營商, from 2022-08). A sixth category, 兼營證券商 (banks and others that run a securities business on the side), is published as PDF only and is not included.

A month's report appears on about the 20th trading day of the following month.

### Verification

- **Every firm's accounts add up.** Asset lines sum to total assets, liability lines to total liabilities, assets equal liabilities plus equity, revenue minus expenses equals operating income, and operating income plus other gains equals pre-tax income. The report rounds each printed figure to the thousand, so a sum of *n* figures may miss its total by up to *n*/2 thousand — that is the tolerance, derived rather than picked. Across all 651 files from 2013-01 to 2026-08 (11,435 firm-months) asset and liability totals are exact and the balance-sheet equation misses by at most 3 — no breach anywhere. A breach fails the run. The result is on every row as `identities_hold`.
- **The total column is the sum of the firms.** Each file closes with a category total; every line of it must equal the sum of the firm columns. The one exception is a known blank: every file from 2019-01 to 2024-09, in every category, prints 0 for the total's right-of-use assets while the firms carry them. That is logged, not treated as a parse error.
- **The open data and the monthly report are the same numbers.** The trial balance divided by a thousand is the monthly report's current assets, total assets, current liabilities and total liabilities; the income statement's pre-tax income, net income and other comprehensive income are the monthly report's, month and year to date. On the issue of 2026-09-25, 244 of 244 balance-sheet figures and 366 of 366 income figures agreed within rounding; the largest gap was 2 thousand, on a total-assets figure that the monthly report builds by adding seven rounded lines.
- **That match is also how the open data is dated.** The feeds carry only the date they were issued (`issued_on`), not the month they describe. The Actor finds `report_month` by matching the figures to the monthly reports of the preceding months; if nothing matches, `report_month` is left empty and a warning is logged rather than guessing "the previous month".
- **Net income = pre-tax income − income tax** inside the income statement feed, exactly, in whole TWD — 65 of 65 firms, month and year to date.
- **Headcount adds up**: men + women = total for all 867 offices.

### Traps in the source that this Actor handles

- **The trial balance's "debit balance" is not a debit balance.** The column is titled 借方餘額, but liabilities, equity and revenue print positive and contra accounts such as accumulated depreciation print negative: each account is on its own natural side. The field is published as `balance` and the README says so, rather than inverting signs.
- **The year to date is not always from January.** The report's footnote lists firms on a non-calendar fiscal year (on the 2026-08 report: 港商麥格理, 港商野村 and 大和國泰, from April). `ytd_start` and `ytd_end` are read from that footnote for each firm.
- **The line between operating and pre-tax income was renamed.** It is 營業外損益 until 2018 and 其他利益及損失 from 2019; both are `other_gains_losses`, and the identity holds on both. Right-of-use assets appear from 2019 (IFRS 16) and are null before.
- **The exchange's CDN challenges fast downloaders.** www.twse.com.tw sits behind an anti-DDoS service that answers an address making parallel requests with a challenge page — an HTML page with status 428 instead of the spreadsheet. The Actor downloads one file at a time, checks that every file really is a spreadsheet, and never parses a challenge page as data.
- **File formats change mid-history**: `.xls` until 2016, `.xlsx` from 2017. The listing API names each file, so the format is never guessed from the year.
- **Some names use private-use glyphs.** 6010 犇亞 is printed with a Big5 extension character in several years; `broker_name` is null there rather than garbled. The code is always present.

### Input

- `recordTypes` — any of the five. Default: `monthly_financials`.
- `startMonth` / `endMonth` — `YYYY-MM`. Leave both empty for the latest published month.
- `brokerCodes` — keep only these firms or branches (`9800`, `9A00`).
- `brokerCategories` — `integrated`, `broker`, `dealer`, `futures_firm`, `two_business`.
- `accountCodes` — account code prefixes for `trial_balance` and `income_statement`, e.g. `1` (assets), `401` (brokerage commissions), `902` (profit lines).
- `maxRequests` — cap for long backfills (default 250; 2013 to today is about 670).
- `useApifyProxy` — for a full backfill.

A default run (latest month, all firms) is 61 rows for 2026-08. The full history, 2013-01 to 2026-08, is 11,435 firm-months.

### Limitations, stated plainly

- **These are the firms' own unaudited figures** (自結數), filed monthly. The audited statements are on MOPS and may differ.
- **Figures are standalone, not consolidated** — a firm's subsidiaries are not in its numbers.
- **The trial balance and income statement cover the latest month only.** The exchange keeps no history of them; run this Actor monthly to build one.
- The open data covers 65 firms and the 2026-08 monthly report 61: four firms — 0200 遠智, 0250 基富通, 0290 台灣巴克萊 and 0A10 好好 — appear only in the open data, and the PDF-only 兼營 category is in neither. No firm is invented to fill a gap.
- One firm's income accounts in the 2026-09-25 trial balance (0250) are all zero while the income-and-expense feed carries them. Both are published as issued.

# Actor input Schema

## `recordTypes` (type: `array`):

Five record types in one dataset, told apart by record_type. trial_balance is large — about 48,000 rows, 746 accounts for each of 65 firms — so it is off by default; use brokerCodes or accountCodes to cut it down.

## `startMonth` (type: `string`):

Leave both months empty for the latest published month. Fill them in for monthly_financials history, which starts in 2013-01. The other record types have no history at the source and are only included when the range reaches the last three months.

## `endMonth` (type: `string`):

Last month to include. Defaults to the current month when a start month is given. A month's report appears on about the 20th trading day of the following month.

## `brokerCodes` (type: `array`):

Keep only these firm or branch codes, e.g. 9800 (Yuanta), 1020 (Taiwan Cooperative). Codes are four characters and may contain letters (9A00, 9B00). Leave empty for all.

## `brokerCategories` (type: `array`):

The exchange files firms in five categories. Leave empty for all.

## `accountCodes` (type: `array`):

Keep only accounts whose six-digit code starts with one of these, e.g. 1 for assets, 401 for brokerage commission income, 902 for the profit lines. Leave empty for all.

## `maxRequests` (type: `integer`):

A safety cap for long backfills. Each month is up to five spreadsheets plus one listing per year, so 2013 to today is about 670 requests. 0 lifts the cap.

## `useApifyProxy` (type: `boolean`):

Turn this on for a full backfill. The exchange's CDN serves an anti-DDoS challenge to an address that downloads too quickly.
