## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Dailymotion Scraper

Get Dailymotion videos as structured data: search results, whole channels, playlists or individual video URLs. Each row has the title, description, duration, views, likes, comments, upload date, tags, category, thumbnail, embed URL and uploader. Channels can also return a profile row with follower and total-view counts.

The Actor reads Dailymotion's public Data API, the same one the Dailymotion website uses for public content. No browser, no proxies, no account, which keeps runs fast and cheap.

### Input

| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQueries` | array | Keywords. Sorted by `sortBy`. |
| `channels` | array | Usernames or channel URLs. Newest videos first. |
| `playlists` | array | Playlist IDs or URLs. |
| `videoUrls` | array | Video URLs or IDs to look up one by one. |
| `sortBy` | select | `relevance`, `recent`, `visited`, `visited-today`, `visited-week`, `visited-month`, `trending`. |
| `languages` | array | Two-letter codes, e.g. `en`, `fr`. |
| `country` | string | Two-letter uploader country, e.g. `FR`. |
| `minDurationSeconds` / `maxDurationSeconds` | integer | Duration filters. |
| `includeChannelProfiles` | boolean | Add one profile row per channel (default on). |
| `maxVideosPerSource` | integer | Per query/channel/playlist cap (default 100). |
| `maxVideos` | integer | Cap for the whole run. |

Example:

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["ligue 1 highlights"],
  "channels": ["https://www.dailymotion.com/france24"],
  "sortBy": "recent",
  "languages": ["fr"],
  "maxVideosPerSource": 200
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event:

- **$0.0015 per video row** ($1.50 per 1,000 videos)
- **$0.002 per channel profile row**

plus Apify's standard Actor start fee. Inputs that fail (private video, wrong username) cost nothing and are listed in the `ERRORS` record of the key-value store. Set *Maximum total charge* on the run to cap spend; the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

Example: 10 search queries × 100 videos = 1,000 rows ≈ $1.50.

### Use cases

- **Media monitoring**: track what channels (news outlets, sports leagues, brands) publish and how it performs.
- **Content research**: find the most viewed videos on a topic this week (`sortBy: visited-week`).
- **Rights and brand protection**: search for your titles or brand names and export matching uploads.
- **Dataset building**: titles, descriptions, tags and view counts for ML or trend analysis.
- **AI agents**: array inputs and flat output; call it through the Apify MCP server.

### Notes and limits

- Only public content. Private, password-protected or geo-blocked videos are skipped (listed in `ERRORS`).
- Dailymotion caps search results at 10,000 per query and 100 per page; the Actor pages automatically.
- Requests are rate-limited (4 per second max, with retries and back-off) to stay well within Dailymotion's public API limits.
- This Actor does not download video files and does not collect data about viewers or commenters.

### FAQ

**Can I get comments or transcripts?** Not with this Actor; it is designed for metadata and stats at scale.

**Why does a channel return fewer videos than its count?** Some uploads are unlisted or restricted by region; the API returns only publicly listed videos.

**Something is off?** Use the Issues tab on the Actor page. Include the input you used.
