## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## NCBiR Research Grant Monitor (Poland)

Monitors open R\&D grant competitions published by NCBiR (Narodowe Centrum Badan i
Rozwoju), Poland's National Centre for Research and Development, with deadline tracking
and keyword filtering.

### What you get

One record per matching competition: title, funding body, budget as published, eligible
applicant types, application deadline, current status (open/closed/planned), a plain-text
summary, and a link to the official call page. Nothing about named individuals.

### What it does not do

No contact-person data, no attached documents, no full call text beyond a plain-text
summary. Output is limited to structured competition metadata.

### Why you might need this

NCBiR runs hundreds of research, innovation and international co-funded competitions a
year, each with its own deadline, across domestic programmes (FENG, FERS, strategic and
national programmes) and international partnerships (Horizon Europe co-funded calls,
Eurostars, bilateral agreements). A research office, grant consultant, or SME R\&D team
tracking a specific topic or applicant type has no feed to subscribe to beyond refreshing
NCBiR's own search by hand. Missing a competition's submission deadline is rarely a
small setback: most rounds are annual, so a call noticed too late means waiting a full
funding cycle before the same programme opens again, and a limited co-funding pot (e.g.
a Eurostars or Horizon Europe call) can close to new applicants within weeks of opening.

### Input

An optional keyword filter, which sources to query, and whether to return only
currently-open calls.

```json
{
  "sources": ["NCBR"],
  "keyword": "",
  "onlyOpen": true,
  "maxResults": 200
}
```

`keyword` matches against the title, summary and programme name (case-insensitive).
`onlyOpen` set to false also returns planned and recently-closed calls.

### Sample output

```json
{
  "grantId": "ncbr:/web/ncbr/polskie-powroty-nawa-2026",
  "title": "Polskie Powroty NAWA 2026",
  "source": "NCBR",
  "fundingBody": "Narodowe Centrum Badan i Rozwoju (NCBiR)",
  "programme": null,
  "description": "Konkurs wspierajacy powrot polskich naukowcow z zagranicy do pracy w polskich jednostkach naukowych.",
  "budget": "2 000 000 PLN",
  "deadline": "2026-12-22T00:00:00.000Z",
  "status": "open",
  "applicantTypes": ["research_unit", "university"],
  "applicationUrl": "https://www.gov.pl/web/ncbr/polskie-powroty-nawa-2026",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-07T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per run started, plus per matching grant call returned. See the Pricing tab for exact
rates. If you deliberately request a large, unfiltered pull (`onlyOpen: false` with a
high `maxResults`), raise your own "Max cost per run" limit when starting the Actor so
the run isn't cut short part-way through.

strony konkursu. Żadnych danych osobowych.

Filtr słowa kluczowego działa na tytule, streszczeniu i nazwie programu (bez rozróżniania
wielkości liter).

Cennik: opłata za uruchomienie, plus opłata za każdy pasujący konkurs zwrócony w
wynikach. Jeśli zamierzasz pobrać duży, niefiltrowany zbiór (`onlyOpen: false` z wysokim
`maxResults`), zwiększ własny limit "Max cost per run" przy starcie Actora, aby przebieg
nie został przerwany w połowie.

# Actor input Schema

## `sources` (type: `array`):

Which agencies to monitor. PARP is not available yet (its site is behind bot protection that blocks plain HTTP requests); only NCBiR is supported for now.

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Only return grants whose title, description or programme name contains this text (case-insensitive). Leave empty to return all.

## `onlyOpen` (type: `boolean`):

If checked, only grants currently accepting applications are returned. If unchecked, planned and closed calls are included too.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of matching grant records to output.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "sources": [
    "NCBR"
  ],
  "keyword": "",
  "onlyOpen": true,
  "maxResults": 200
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `matchedGrants` (type: `string`):

Per-grant records.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("chosen_loafer/grants-monitor-actor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
