## FEC Contributions — cited campaign-finance totals

Federal campaign-contribution totals for a U.S. election cycle, aggregated **by
contributor state** or **by recipient committee type**, returned with a full
citation receipt. Built for AI agents and analysts who need a number they can
defend: every answer carries the exact public source it came from, when it was
retrieved, what it covers, and what it does not.

Data comes straight from the **Federal Election Commission** — the primary,
public-domain federal record. No aggregator, no opinion, no scoring.

Money is always integer **cents** (`total_cents`) — no floats, no rounding
surprises. `retrieved_at` is when citature fetched the record; a source's own
as-of date, when it publishes one, is a separate field.
