## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## EURAXESS Research Job Scraper 🔬🇪🇺 — Academic & Research Jobs across Europe

Scrape research, PhD, postdoc and academic jobs from [EURAXESS](https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/search) — the **European Commission's** official research jobs portal covering universities, institutes and research infrastructures across Europe. Get the full job details: organisation, country, research field, researcher profile, deadline, contract, hours, description, requirements, benefits, contact and the direct apply link. HTTP-only — fast and cheap, no browser.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `keyword` | string | Job keyword, e.g. `medical`, `postdoc`, `machine learning`, `biology`. |
| `searchUrls` | array | Paste EURAXESS search URLs with filters applied (Country, Research Field, Researcher Profile, Sector, Academic Level, Funding, Offer Type…). Overrides `keyword`. |
| `fetchDetails` | boolean | Visit each job page for the full description, requirements, benefits, contact & apply link (default on). |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max jobs to scrape. Empty (or `0`) = **all** results. |
| `proxyConfig` | object | Optional — usually works without a proxy. |

#### Using filters

EURAXESS has many facets (country, research field, researcher profile, positions, funding…) that encode into the URL. Apply them on the site, then paste the resulting URL(s) into `searchUrls`. Each is paginated automatically.

### Output

One item per job:

Far richer than a listing dump — **structured contact (email + phone), structured work-location address, languages required, education level, full description, requirements, benefits, deadline and a ready-to-use `apply_url`** — pulled from each job's detail page.

### Use cases

- **Research job aggregation** — feed structured pan-European research jobs into your own board or newsletter
- **Recruitment & sourcing** — filter by research field, researcher profile (R1–R4), country and contract type
- **Market & funding research** — track hiring by institution, field, country and EU funding programme
- **Deadline & alert tracking** — schedule runs and diff for new postings and upcoming `application_deadline`s

### Notes

- Data comes from EURAXESS search pages and each job's detail page (Job Information + Offer Description + Requirements + Contact).
- Turn off `fetchDetails` for a fast list-only run; keep it on for full descriptions, requirements, benefits and apply links.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Job keyword to search, e.g. 'medical', 'postdoc', 'machine learning', 'biology'. Leave empty to use a filter URL below.

## `searchUrls` (type: `array`):

Paste EURAXESS search URLs with filters applied (Country, Research Field, Researcher Profile, Sector, Academic Level, Funding, Offer Type, etc.). Build the search on the site and copy the URL here. Overrides the keyword.

## `fetchDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Visit each job page for the full offer description, requirements, benefits, contact, apply link, hours, start date and reference number (slower but far richer). Off = fast list only.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of jobs to scrape. Leave empty (or 0) to scrape ALL results.

## `proxyConfig` (type: `object`):

Optional. EURAXESS usually works without a proxy; enable one for large runs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keyword": "postdoc",
  "searchUrls": [],
  "fetchDetails": true,
  "maxItems": 50,
  "proxyConfig": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

All scraped jobs: title, organisation, country, research field, researcher profile, deadline, contract, hours, description, requirements, contact and apply link.
