## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Hiring Signals API: companies hiring right now, from 17,000+ career sites

**Find the companies that are hiring right now, and for what.** One row per company, built from **1,170,000+ open jobs on 17,000+ companies' own career sites** (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Personio, Rippling), refreshed **every hour** (Workday daily). Ask *"which US companies opened 3+ sales roles this week?"* and get a ranked list of companies, each with new-job counts by **function and seniority**, top departments and locations, remote share, published **salary range**, jobs **closed** in the last 7 days, the careers page and **links to the newest jobs**.

Hiring is the most reliable public **buying-intent signal**: a company opening 10 sales roles needs sales tools, onboarding and recruiting help; a company hiring its first security engineers is about to buy security software. This Actor turns raw job postings into **lead lists** for sales teams, recruiters, agencies and investors. No scraping happens during your run, so the default run finishes in **a few seconds**.

### Why people use it

- 🎯 **Company-level, not job-level**: one row per hiring company, with counts and breakdowns, instead of thousands of job rows you have to group yourself.
- 🧭 **Hiring by function**: every job is classified into Sales, Engineering, AI / ML, Data, Security, Product, Design, Marketing, Customer success, Finance, People / HR, Legal, Healthcare, Operations. Filter to the teams you sell to.
- 📈 **Signal strength**: `high` / `medium` / `low` from the number of new jobs (and growth vs. open jobs when available), so you can work the hottest accounts first.
- 🔗 **Evidence included**: up to 25 newest job titles and links per company for personalized outreach ("saw you're hiring 6 AEs in Texas...").
- ⏱️ **Fresh**: windows of the last **24 hours, 7 days or 30 days**, from an index refreshed hourly.
- 🧹 **Real employers only**: job aggregators and recruiting marketplaces are excluded by default; a company's duplicate boards are merged.
- 💸 **$0.005 per company row** ($5 per 1,000 companies). Sample job links, breakdowns and filters are free.

### Quick start

1. Click **Start**. The prefilled input returns **25 US companies that opened 3+ sales jobs in the last 7 days** (about $0.13).
2. Change **Job functions** to the teams you sell to (or recruit for), and **Locations** to your market.
3. Export to **CSV, Excel, JSON or Google Sheets**, push to your CRM or Clay with Make, Zapier or n8n, or call it from the API or an AI agent.

### Use cases and ready-to-paste inputs

#### 1. Sales prospecting: companies building teams you sell to

Selling a sales tool? Companies opening several sales roles at once are your best accounts this week.

```json
{
  "timeRange": "7d",
  "jobFunctions": ["sales"],
  "locationSearch": ["United States"],
  "minNewJobs": 5,
  "limit": 200
}
```

#### 2. Security, data and AI vendors: who is investing in your space

```json
{
  "timeRange": "30d",
  "jobFunctions": ["security"],
  "minNewJobs": 3,
  "sortBy": "growth",
  "limit": 100
}
```

30 days scans all 1.17M open jobs (1-2 minutes) and adds `open_jobs_matching` and `new_share_of_open`, so **Growth** ranks companies whose security team is growing fastest relative to its size.

#### 3. Recruiting and staffing agencies: companies hiring roles you place

```json
{
  "timeRange": "7d",
  "titleSearch": ["data engineer", "analytics engineer", "machine learning engineer"],
  "minNewJobs": 2,
  "sampleJobsPerCompany": 10,
  "limit": 300
}
```

#### 4. Leadership hiring: new VPs and directors (a classic trigger event)

New leaders buy new tools in their first 90 days.

```json
{
  "timeRange": "7d",
  "seniority": ["executive"],
  "jobFunctions": ["marketing", "sales", "engineering"],
  "minNewJobs": 1,
  "sortBy": "latest",
  "limit": 200
}
```

#### 5. Investors and market research: who is scaling, where

```json
{
  "timeRange": "30d",
  "minNewJobs": 20,
  "ats": ["ashby", "greenhouse", "lever"],
  "limit": 500
}
```

Startups mostly hire on Ashby, Greenhouse and Lever, so this surfaces fast-growing private companies.

#### 6. Account monitoring: watch a list of target accounts

Schedule a daily run with **Only these companies** set to your account list and **Minimum new jobs** = 1.

### Pricing (pay per event)

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Company returned (row in the dataset) | **$0.005** (= **$5 per 1,000 companies**) |
| Actor start | $0.00005 (Apify's standard start event) |

Examples: the default input (25 companies) = **$0.13**. A weekly list of 200 accounts = **$1/week**. You only pay for company rows; set **Max companies** and the run stops there, and it also stops at your run's maximum cost.

### Coverage and freshness

- **1,177,389 open jobs** from **20,281 verified job boards** of **17,500+ companies** on 9 ATS platforms. In a typical week **9,000+ companies** post new jobs and **3,500+** post five or more.
- Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Personio and Rippling are refreshed **every hour**; Workday **once a day**. `index_updated_at` shows the last refresh.
- "New" means posted (or first seen) inside the window. When a company is first added to the index, its existing jobs are dated by the company's own posting date, not by when we found them.
- The 24h and 7d windows read the hourly "recent jobs" part of the index and answer in seconds. 30d, Growth and open-job counts scan all open jobs (1-2 minutes).

### FAQ

**How is the job function decided?**
From the job title, department and team, using keyword rules (e.g. "Account Executive", "SDR", "Sales" department = Sales). It is accurate for the vast majority of titles; unusual titles fall into "Other".

**Why does a big company show many new jobs every week?**
Large employers (retail, healthcare, banks) post constantly. Use **Job functions**, **Seniority**, **Title contains**, a higher **Minimum new jobs**, or **Growth** sorting to find the companies whose hiring is unusual.

**Can I get the company website / domain?**
`company_domain` is filled only when the ATS publishes it (rare). Use `careers_url` and `company` to match accounts in your CRM, or enrich with your usual tool.

**Can I get contacts or emails?**
No. This Actor only uses public job postings. It contains no personal data.

**Can I run it on a schedule?**
Yes. Schedule it daily with "Last 24 hours" or weekly with "Last 7 days" and send results to Google Sheets, Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce or Clay via Apify integrations.

**Is it legal?**
The index only contains job postings that companies publish on their ATS's public job-board endpoints, the same data their careers pages show to everyone.

### Limitations

- Company names come from the ATS. Large Workday employers are mapped to their real names (e.g. "Wells Fargo"), but some smaller Workday companies still show their short Workday id.
- A company with boards on two different ATS platforms appears once per ATS.
- No job descriptions; functions are classified from titles and departments.
- Up to 2,000 companies per run.

# Actor input Schema

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Counts jobs that companies posted in this window. 24h and 7d answer in seconds. 30d scans the full index (1-2 minutes) and also returns open-job counts.

## `jobFunctions` (type: `array`):

Count only these kinds of roles, classified from title and department. E.g. Sales = companies building sales teams (great for selling sales tools); Engineering; Security; AI / ML. Empty = all.

## `locationSearch` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs whose location contains any of these (case-insensitive): countries, states, cities. E.g. 'United States', 'Texas', 'London', 'Remote'.

## `titleSearch` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs whose title contains any of these words or phrases. E.g. 'account executive', 'SDR', 'data engineer'.

## `titleExclusionSearch` (type: `array`):

Skip jobs whose title contains any of these. E.g. 'intern'.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Count only jobs mentioning any of these in title, department, team or company. E.g. 'Salesforce', 'Kubernetes'.

## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):

Skip jobs mentioning any of these.

## `seniority` (type: `array`):

Count only these levels (parsed from the title). E.g. Director / VP to find leadership hiring. Empty = all.

## `remoteOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Count only remote roles.

## `minNewJobs` (type: `integer`):

Only return companies with at least this many new matching jobs in the window. Raise it (e.g. 10) for the strongest signals.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

How to rank companies. 'Growth' ranks by new jobs divided by all matching open jobs, so smaller companies scaling fast rise to the top; it turns on open-job counts.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum company rows to return. You pay per company row.

## `sampleJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Include up to this many of the newest matching jobs (title, location, link) in each company row. Free; set 0 for smaller rows.

## `includeOpenJobCounts` (type: `boolean`):

Also count all open matching jobs per company and the new/open share. Scans the full index (1-2 minutes). Always on for 30d.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Only companies whose name or ATS board contains any of these. E.g. 'stripe', 'Wells Fargo'.

## `companyExclusion` (type: `array`):

Skip companies whose name or board contains any of these (e.g. your own company, or staffing agencies).

## `ats` (type: `array`):

Only companies on these applicant tracking systems. Leave empty for all 9.

## `excludeAggregators` (type: `boolean`):

Skip job aggregators and recruiting marketplaces (e.g. Jobgether) that repost other companies' jobs, so every row is a real employer.
