## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews Scraper + Google Play Reviews (60+ Countries)

Scrape **App Store and Google Play reviews in one run**, across **60+ countries**, into one clean table: star rating, title, review text, date, app version, helpful votes and the **developer's reply**. Search apps by name, filter by stars, date or keyword, and turn on **monitor mode** to get only new reviews on a schedule.

Built for app developers, product managers, ASO and customer-support teams, market researchers and anyone feeding user feedback into AI, spreadsheets or dashboards.

- 🍏🤖 **Both stores, one schema**: iOS and Android reviews side by side, same fields, no second tool to learn.
- 🌍 **Every country at once**: App Store reviews are separate in each country. Type `all` and get the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Brazil and 55+ more storefronts in one run. Google Play reviews are read once per language, with duplicates removed.
- 🔎 **No links needed**: type `Duolingo` or `Revolut` and the actor finds the app in both stores.
- 🔔 **Only new reviews**: schedule it hourly or daily and receive only reviews you have not seen. A run with nothing new costs almost nothing.
- ⭐ **Useful filters**: only 1-2 star reviews, only the last 7 days, only reviews mentioning `crash`, `login` or `refund`.
- 💬 **Developer replies included** (Google Play), plus the app's overall rating and rating count on every row.
- 🛡️ **Privacy by default**: reviewer nicknames are left out unless you turn them on.
- 💸 **Pay only for reviews returned**: no monthly fee, no proxy, no API key.

### What can you use it for?

| Use case | How |
|---|---|
| **Review alerts for your app** | Add your App Store and Google Play links, pick your markets, turn on *Only new reviews*, schedule it every hour. Send new reviews to Slack, email or a Google Sheet with an Apify integration. |
| **Bug and complaint radar** | *Star ratings* = 1 and 2, *Review must contain* = `crash`, `bug`, `freeze`, `login`. |
| **Competitor research** | Type your competitors' names in *Search by app name*, country = `all`, last 90 days. Compare what users love and hate. |
| **Release QA** | Filter the last 3 days after a release and look at the `appVersion` column. |
| **AI sentiment and topic analysis** | Export thousands of reviews and feed them to an LLM. Works with the Apify MCP server, n8n, Make and Zapier. |
| **ASO and localisation** | See how ratings differ by country and what each market asks for. |

### How to use it

1. Paste **App Store or Google Play links** (or ids), or type **app names** in *Search by app name*.
2. Choose the **countries** (`us`, `gb`, `fr`... or `all`).
3. Optionally set **filters**: last N days, star ratings, words the review must contain.
4. Click **Start**. Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them through the API.

For **review alerts**: turn on *Only new reviews*, give the monitor a name, and create a schedule (Console > Schedules) that runs it every hour or every day.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no monthly rental:

- **Review returned**: $0.50 per 1,000 reviews.
- A tiny start fee per run, so hourly alerts stay cheap.

Examples: monitoring 2 apps in 10 countries with about 30 new reviews a day costs about **$0.45 a month**. A one-off export of 20,000 competitor reviews costs **$10**.

Set *Max reviews in total* or a maximum cost per run to keep full control of your spend.

### Limits worth knowing

- **App Store**: Apple publishes the **500 most recent reviews per country** for each app (up to 1,000 with *Sort = Most helpful*). Reading many countries is the way to get more: a popular app often has several thousand recent reviews across 60 storefronts.
- **Google Play**: no limit; reviews are read until your *Max reviews* or date filter is reached.
- Star-only ratings without text are not published by either store, so they are not included.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape app reviews?** The actor reads reviews that the stores show publicly to anyone, through Apple's public review feed and Google Play's public pages. Reviewer nicknames are excluded by default. You are responsible for how you use the data, in particular under GDPR if you turn nicknames on.

**How fresh is the data?** Live: every run reads the stores at that moment.

**Why is the Google Play `country` sometimes different from the one I typed?** Google Play groups reviews by language, so `us`, `gb` and `au` return the same English reviews. The actor reads each language once and labels the rows with the first matching country.

**Why are the newest Google Play reviews about a day old?** Google Play publishes reviews roughly 24 hours after they are written. The `reviewedAt` date is the real writing time.

**The app name search picked the wrong app.** Use the store link or id instead; the `APPS` record shows which app was used.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store or Google Play links, or ids: <code>https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notion/id1232780281</code>, <code>1232780281</code>, <code>https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=notion.id</code>, <code>notion.id</code>.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Don't have the links? Type app names (for example <code>Duolingo</code>). The top match in each store is used. Check the APPS record in the run's storage to see which app was picked.

## `stores` (type: `array`):

Which stores to search when you give app names. Links and ids always use their own store.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter country codes, for example <code>us</code>, <code>gb</code>, <code>fr</code>, <code>de</code>. Type <code>all</code> for 62 major countries. App Store reviews are separate in each country. Google Play reviews are grouped by language, so countries sharing a language (us, gb, au...) are read once.

## `maxReviews` (type: `integer`):

Reviews read per app and country, before the star and keyword filters. App Store shows at most the 500 newest reviews per country (up to 1,000 with sort = Most helpful). Google Play has no limit.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap for the whole run (newest kept). 0 = no cap.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest first is best for alerts and date filters. Most helpful (App Store) or most relevant (Google Play) is best for research.

## `maxDaysOld` (type: `integer`):

0 = any date.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Overrides the field above.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

Keep only these ratings, for example 1 and 2 stars for complaints. Empty = all.

## `textMustContain` (type: `array`):

Keep reviews whose title or text contains at least one of these words (case and accents ignored), for example <code>crash</code>, <code>login</code>, <code>refund</code>.

## `includeReviewerNames` (type: `boolean`):

Off by default to keep the data free of personal information.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Return only reviews not returned by an earlier run with the same monitor name. Schedule the Actor (hourly or daily) to get review alerts: you pay only for new reviews.

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Use a different name for each separate alert.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Usually not needed: both stores answer without a proxy.
