## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## NOAA Weather Forecast API: NWS Forecast, Conditions & Alerts

Get 7-day and hourly forecasts, latest station observations (METAR) and active NWS alerts for any US lat/long, or all active alerts by state. Official NOAA API. $1.80 per 1,000.

### What does it do?

**NOAA Weather Forecast** wraps the official **National Weather Service (weather.gov) API**: 7-day and hourly forecasts, latest station observations and **active weather alerts** for any US latitude/longitude, or every active alert in a state.

- ✅ Official public data source: no login, no cookies, no proxies
- ✅ Fast: plain API calls, typical runs finish in seconds
- ✅ Clean, flat JSON / CSV / Excel output, ready for Sheets, BI tools or AI agents
- ✅ Pay only for results: no monthly rental

### Use cases

- **Field services & logistics:** plan around forecasts.
- **Insurance & utilities:** watch alerts by state.
- **Apps & AI agents:** a simple weather tool.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free**. The input is prefilled with a working example.
2. Edit the input (see examples below) and click **Start**.
3. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or pull them via API.

**Outside the US?**

No. NWS covers the US and territories.

**Input format?**

`lat,long` strings, e.g. `39.7392,-104.9903`.

**Something not working?**

Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab, and it will be fixed quickly.

### More details

Get 7-day and hourly forecasts, latest station observations (METAR) and active NWS alerts for any US lat/long, or all active alerts by state. Official NOAA API.

Pull **official U.S. weather data from NOAA's National Weather Service API (api.weather.gov)** for any list of US coordinates:

- **7-day forecast** (12-hour periods: temperature, wind, precipitation chance, humidity, short and detailed text)
- **Hourly forecast** (up to 156 hours)
- **Current conditions** from the nearest NWS observation station, including the **raw METAR**
- **Active alerts** (warnings, watches and advisories) for each point, or **every active alert in a state** as separate rows

**Uses:** logistics and field-service scheduling, construction and event planning, agriculture, insurance and claims triage, energy load forecasting, severe-weather alerting (schedule it hourly), and dashboards and AI agents that need reliable US weather without an API key.

##### Output

Location rows carry the NWS office and grid, nearest city/state, time zone, forecast zone, county zone, radar station, `forecast[]`, `hourlyForecast[]`, `observation{}`, `activeAlerts[]` and `activeAlertCount`. Alert rows carry the event, headline, severity, certainty, urgency, area, onset/expires and the description and instructions.

##### Notes

Coverage is the US and its territories only; points outside NWS coverage come back as `found: false` and are free. If no alerts are active in a state, you get one free informational row. Data is U.S. Government public-domain data from NOAA/NWS. Not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA or NWS. Do not use this Actor as your sole source for life-safety decisions.

##### Pricing

Pay per event: **weather-record** at $0.0018 ($1.8 per 1,000). Charged per location forecast returned or per active alert returned. You pay only for results; not-found and error rows are free. Apify platform usage is included.

##### Example input

```json
{
  "locations": [
    "39.7392,-104.9903",
    "51.5074,-0.1278"
  ],
  "hourlyPeriods": 3,
  "forecastPeriods": 4,
  "alertStates": [
    "AK"
  ]
}
