## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US Business Entity Search & New LLC Filings — Official State Registry Data (NY, CO, CT, OR, TX)

Search **Secretary of State business entity records** and pull **newly registered LLCs and corporations** every day, straight from each state's **official open-data registry**. No login, no CAPTCHA, no headless browser, so runs are fast and cheap and they don't break when a state redesigns its website.

Use it for **KYB / business verification**, **new business leads** (fresh LLC filings for B2B sales, insurance, accounting, banking, merchant services), **registered agent lookups**, and **due diligence**.

### What you get

One clean, normalized record per business entity, whatever the state:

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `state` | NY, CO, CT, OR, TX |
| `entityName` | Legal name |
| `entityType` | LLC, corporation, nonprofit… (the state's own wording) |
| `status` | Active / Good Standing / Delinquent / Dissolved… |
| `formationDate` | Formation or registration date (YYYY-MM-DD) |
| `sourceId` | State entity / registry / account number |
| `principalAddress`, `mailingAddress` | Street, city, state, ZIP |
| `registeredAgent` | Agent name and address (CO, NY, OR) |
| `naics`, `businessEmail`, ownership flags | Connecticut extras |
| `sosFileNumber` | Texas SOS file number |
| `sourceDataset`, `sourcePublisher`, `sourceUrl`, `retrievedAt` | Provenance for every record |

### Modes

- **New filings**: businesses formed in the last *N* days, newest first. Schedule it daily to get a fresh lead list.
- **Search**: look up entities by name (contains / starts with / exact), city, ZIP prefix or entity type.

### Example input

```json
{ "mode": "newFilings", "states": ["CO", "CT", "NY"], "lastNDays": 3, "maxResults": 2000 }
```

```json
{ "mode": "search", "nameQuery": "coffee", "states": ["CO", "OR"], "activeOnly": true, "maxResults": 100 }
```

### Example output (Colorado, real record)

```json
{
  "state": "CO", "sourceId": "20268275661", "entityName": "ORYNTEX LLC", "entityType": "DLLC",
  "status": "Good Standing", "formationDate": "2026-10-18", "jurisdiction": "CO",
  "principalAddress": {"street": "308 Uvalda St", "city": "Aurora", "state": "CO", "zip": "80011", "country": "US"},
  "registeredAgent": {"name": "Artifact Uprising LLC", "street": "4045 Pecos Street Suite 250", "city": "Denver", "state": "CO", "zip": "80211"},
  "sourceDataset": "Business Entities in Colorado", "sourcePublisher": "Colorado Department of State",
  "sourceUrl": "https://data.colorado.gov/d/4ykn-tg5h"
}
```

### Data sources and freshness

| State | Official dataset | Publisher | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| NY | [Active Corporations: Beginning 1800](https://data.ny.gov/d/n9v6-gdp6) | NY Department of State | Active entities |
| CO | [Business Entities in Colorado](https://data.colorado.gov/d/4ykn-tg5h) | CO Department of State | All statuses |
| CT | [Business Registry – Business Master](https://data.ct.gov/d/n7gp-d28j) | CT Secretary of the State | All statuses |
| OR | [Active Businesses – ALL](https://data.oregon.gov/d/tckn-sxa6) | OR Secretary of State | Active entities |
| TX | [Active Franchise Taxpayers](https://data.texas.gov/d/9cir-efmm) | TX Comptroller | Active franchise-tax entities |

Each state refreshes its portal on its own schedule. When we checked (Oct 19, 2026), the newest records were 1–2 days old for NY, CO and CT, and about a week old for OR. Texas posts new entities with a lag. Results are only as current as the state's dataset.

### Pricing

Pay per result: you pay only for records delivered, and **Max results** caps your spend.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** Yes. Every source is the state's own public open-data publication, accessed through the official Socrata API. The actor doesn't scrape any login-protected or CAPTCHA-protected pages.
**Using emails for outreach?** You are responsible for complying with CAN-SPAM and similar laws. Set `includeEmails: false` to drop emails.
**Need more states?** Open an issue. States are added as their official open datasets become available.
