## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Xiaohongshu (RedNote) Scraper

Scrape **Xiaohongshu / RedNote** (xiaohongshu.com), China's leading lifestyle and shopping-discovery community, and get clean, flat JSON: keyword search, note details, public comments and creator profiles with recent notes. No Chinese-language skills, proxies, cookies or login needed. Pay-per-event pricing: a small start fee per run plus a fee per item returned.

### What can it do?

| Mode | Give it | You get |
|---|---|---|
| `search` | a keyword | notes: title, description, author, likes, collects, comments, shares, cover, link |
| `note` | note links or IDs | the full note record, including hashtags (billed as a *detail*) |
| `comments` | note links or IDs | comment text, likes, reply count, time, public nickname |
| `user` | profile links or IDs | profile (nickname, bio, followers, notes, likes received) plus recent notes |

### Use cases

- **Product and trend research**: see what Chinese consumers search for, save and recommend in beauty, food, travel and fashion.
- **Influencer marketing**: compare creators by followers and note engagement.
- **Brand monitoring**: find notes that mention your brand and read the comments.
- **AI and NLP datasets**: collect Chinese consumer reviews and comments.

### Input

```json
{ "mode": "search", "keyword": "咖啡", "maxResults": 40 }
```

```json
{ "mode": "note", "notes": ["https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6aa72fd3000000002802c3f4"] }
```

```json
{ "mode": "user", "users": ["https://www.xiaohongshu.com/user/profile/63ebbadf00000000260055d5"], "maxResults": 30 }
```

`maxResults` is the total number of items for the whole run. The run stops as soon as it is reached, or when the spending limit you set in the run options is used up. `xhslink.com` share links are accepted too.

### Output

Every item has a `type`: `note` (list item), `noteDetail` (from mode `note`), `comment` or `user`. Example note item:

```json
{
  "type": "note",
  "noteId": "6aa72fd3000000002802c3f4",
  "url": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/6aa72fd3000000002802c3f4",
  "noteType": "image",
  "title": "Example title",
  "description": "Example description",
  "authorName": "ExampleCreator",
  "authorId": "63ebbadf00000000260055d5",
  "authorUrl": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/user/profile/63ebbadf00000000260055d5",
  "publishedAt": "2026-09-14T10:00:51Z",
  "likes": 1658,
  "collects": 527,
  "comments": 131,
  "shares": 306,
  "coverUrl": "https://example.com/cover.webp",
  "imageCount": 9,
  "durationSeconds": null,
  "hashtags": []
}
```

Fields with no data are `null`. `durationSeconds` is only set for video notes in search and creator lists, and `hashtags` only in note details (mode `note`).

Comment items contain `text`, `likes`, `replyCount`, `publishedAt` and the public `authorName` only. The full field list is in the dataset schema; export as JSON, CSV, Excel or via API.

### Pricing

| Event | What it covers | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Run start | charged once per run | *see store page* |
| Result | one note from a list, or one comment | *see store page* |
| Detail | one full note from mode `note` | *see store page* |
| Profile | one creator profile | *see store page* |

The start fee is charged once at the beginning of every run, even if a run returns few or no items. Items are charged only when they are actually returned. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops when it is reached.

### FAQ

**Do I need a Xiaohongshu account or cookies?** No.

**Does it collect personal data?** No. It returns public content and statistics. Authors and commenters appear by public nickname (and, for note authors, public user ID) only. Phone numbers, real names, locations and private messages are never collected.

**Why is detail priced higher?** A detail needs its own lookup per note, while list pages return many notes at once.

**Does a video note include its duration?** Search and creator lists include it where available; the detail record may leave it empty for video notes.

**Can I use it through the API or on a schedule?** Yes, like any Apify Actor: API, schedules, webhooks, and integrations with Zapier, Make, Google Sheets and more. It also works with AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

**Something looks wrong or a field is empty.** Open an issue on the Actor page with the run link; the Actor is monitored daily and fixed quickly.

**Is scraping legal?** The Actor only returns publicly visible information. You are responsible for using the data in line with applicable laws and Xiaohongshu's terms.
